Looking at the picture of him in the training top i can't help but wonder just how naff they will look without the Macron logo to make it look "authentic"...

Pretty sure a change of formation to a back three is coming for next season given this signing (De Neve will be used as wing back) and rumours about getting centre backs in. A team looking to play with intensity and hitting teams on the break rather than relying on individual quality. Makes sense if you are cheap and not looking to spend money to get quality wingers or strikers (to replace Dolan for example). Wouldn't be surprised if Kargbo is shifted to a number 10 role if this scenario plays out.

Be interesting to see how Ribeiro and Pickering fit into this as neither is suitable for a wing back role. Pickering can act as a back-up in central defence but wouldn't surprise me if Ismael is looking to add athleticism across the park.

We need to have at least 2 options in every position but particularly in attacking areas. You need options off the bench more than ever, especially if Ismael plans to play a pressing game, he is known for regular subs on the hour mark once he has run his players into the ground.

Kargbo and De Neve can presumably just rotate with one starting and the other coming on.

Ohashi has been a good pick up for the cost, Gueye a poor one and both Toth and Kargbo have not really played much.

Hopefully this lad will be a shrewd addition.

Would be similar to his Barnsley side which made the playoffs, so would make sense. Was also on a strict budget there.

Kargbo was a 10 at Cesena, so deffo fits there, and can imagine he'd be a good foil for Cantwell.

Ohashi was very good, but you're being unfair on the others, Kargbo is an unknown after a couple of cameos, but Gueye was our best player in Jan-Mar until Ismael joined, and Toth looks a much more assured keeper than Pears.

I dont think I was too unfair, especially as I essentially reserved judgement on 2 of the 4.

Gueye for the majority of the season was really poor. He did have a decent run of games but that proved the anomoly and it didnt last for 3 months. I dont rate him personally, he only scored 6 goals and of our 19 league wins, only 6 came in the 23 he started.

Toth in his initial games was really shaky but looked much better in the last 4 or 5 games, albeit he was rarely tested as we reverted to being excellent defensively. Like with Kargbo, there is something to cling to in terms of something to build on but neither has proven themselves as a success yet, for circumstances beyond their control.

Either way, I certainly dont see evidence in our foreign recruitment to just assume theyll get it right.

I disagree. As mentioned above, poor goal record (worse than all but one of your mate Gallagher's seasons here), we won significantly less games when he started and he was a liability more often than not.

First thoughts on this signing other than he looks like he hasn't slept in a while is that I worry he may be a bit lightweight for the championship. I'm just speculating, we won't know until he plays of course. He just looks like a half decent championship defender would snap him in half.

Onwards...only about 9 or 10 other players to bring in 😂

He says in his first interview he needs to work on his duels, so you might be right on the physical side there.
