JHRover Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) Some malicious lies emerging from Preston where it is being reported that a US-Saudi businessman has held talks about investing in Nob End. Apparently nobody has told him or the media that nobody would buy or invest in a 'small town' loss making 'unattractive' Championship football club. You are supposed to just exist with disinterested owners who at least pay the bills and never get taken over Or is it a different rule book because they are a city? If Rovers fail to beat them at Ewood then there really is no hope for survival. Quote

Hopefully Leicester use the same data metrics that we do which all apparently showed Ismael to be by far "the outstanding candidate". Get shut of the useless twonk and 2.5 years compo on top. If Carlsberg did approaches.............. Edited Sunday at 18:44 by RevidgeBlue Quote

Obviously he wasn't nearly as shit (*), but I always thought that Souness was teetering on the verge of the sack when Newcastle paid us compensation to take him to the North East * Souness was great for us in the most part but did seem to be self destructing and falling out with everyone just before he left Edited Sunday at 19:34 by KentExile 1 Quote

I nearly posted "Unfortunately I doubt this will be another fairy tale Souness type solution". We got extremely lucky with that. 3 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted Sunday at 21:18 Backroom Posted Sunday at 21:18 (edited) Souness was just a right place, right time kind of thing. It worked until it didn't, and it was obvious he wasn't going to turn it around, so Newcastle's approach was a blessing in disguise for us. Souey's only real sustained success in management after his stint with Rangers in the late 80's was with us. He needed a specific environment to be successful, and for whatever reason that was us during the majority of his time here. He wasn't a particularly good manager in his post-playing career, but for us he was great for a decent period. Sometimes it just clicks for a while between a manager and a club. It was an unfortunate end with some really poor signings and fallings out with players, but nothing can take away the achievements of the previous years. It'll be interesting to see who Leicester appoint. Clubs in the Championship aren't averse to looking abroad for young, on-the-rise head coaches, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's an appointment of somebody that few on these shores have heard of. I can't imagine many would have been able to tell you much about Kim Hellberg, Vitor Matos, Eric Ramsay, Julien Stephane or Sergej Javirovic before they were appointed at Boro, Swansea, WBA, QPR and Hull. Leicester aren't exactly flush with cash, either, and are looking at a likely points deduction in the near future, so they aren't going to be hugely attractive to bigger names. Clubs around us picking up points and we have 2 home wins all season. And there's no way we're sacking VI. Genuinely think we have to start preparing for lge 1. And it's fully deserved sadly. 2 Quote
StHelensRover Posted Monday at 21:58 Posted Monday at 21:58 I've said it a couple of times recently. If we drop this time round and are still owned by the Venkys this club will be down in the lower leagues for a generation, we won't bounce back. It will be proper dire stuff. Gates will be lower than they were on Saturday. When we're not in a promotion race and we're stuck in midtable L1 or worse, the novelty will wear off very quick. We'll be like Wigan. Sadly it might take that happening to get more people to boycott or protest against the owners. If relegation comes this season it will be catastrophic in the next few years for this club. 5 Quote
bazza Posted Monday at 22:02 Posted Monday at 22:02 Norwich are a far better side than us on that performance. Who are worse or as bad? Pompey? Oxford? WBA? We're down 1 1 Quote
JHRover Posted Monday at 22:57 Posted Monday at 22:57 Rumours that Rowett is on the list for the next Leicester manager. Would be a sensible appointment for them to guide them through the next few months especially if they get a points deduction. Quote

StHelensRover Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago Bet John Eustace never even thinks about us now, but at least we waved some snakes at him while he beat us twice. Our fans are idiots for targeting him and our owners are even bigger idiots for forcing him out. He had the last laugh when he sent Brum down after they ditched him, wonder if he'll laugh when we're down. Probably won't care if he gets Derby into the playoffs. 1 Quote
