Jordan Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Feeling confident about this game. I would like to see the following team start against Boro Friedel Warnock Emerton Nelsen Ooijer Bentley Pedersen Tugay Savage Roberts McCarthy Subs - Brown, Samba, Mokoena, Santa Cruz, Derbyshire I imagine that Hughes will pick the same with the exception of the defense where he will play Ooijer at right back and Samba at centre back and emerton on the bench. Result - Boro 0 Rovers 2

1864roverite Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 What ? No Samba against an inexperienced defence ? Your obviously sauced up jordan !
Jordan Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 What ? No Samba against an inexperienced defence ? Your obviously sauced up jordan ! I think Ooijer would cause just as many problems. Oh and yes I have had a few I like Samba however I would rather have the experience of Ooijer.
92er Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Oh no-it's all looking as though we are starting off the season too overly confident. Come back Jim!
philipl Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Boro much fitter after exacting pre-season Doesn't say a lot for McClaren does it that he could not get his players fit?
Cocker Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Boro much fitter after exacting pre-season Doesn't say a lot for McClaren does it that he could not get his players fit? To be fair, listen to every team and they all say that every year.
Blueboy Downunder Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 as i always say..."i would be happy with a point away from home" especially this being the first game of the season and against a team who should be looking to impress for the first game, infront of their own fans. i reckon santa cruz will start the game, and providing that we are infront in the second half, then robbo will come on.
SuperStella Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Too much confidence on this thread Prediction: 5-0 to Boro
Rovermatt Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 We'll win this 2-1 with McCarthy getting both goals.
brfc fan Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 We haven't won the opening game since the 5-1 trashing of Wolves at Ewood. I reckon we are in for a hard game at Boro this season. Boro 3 Rovers 1 If it was anybody else I'd say we'd lose but I just always feel really confident against Boro. I remember when we played them 3 times in the 05/06 and I thought we surely can't win all of them and we did so even though it's the first match I expect us to win and probably quite comfortably too.
Hughesy Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Everton are sniffing around Yakuba - so hopefully that will unsettle abit. I think 3-1 Rovers - McCarthy, Roberts & Bentley
Finch Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Normally, this should be a game we should win, but this is our first game and so first-day nerves come into play. Am I right in saying we don't have the best of luck on 1st days in the past? The exception to this was the opening day of the 2003-2004 season when we beat Wolves 5-1 and started the season top of the league
Roost Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Well, what a result - just been given two tickets for a box for saturdays game - happy days Roll on saturday!! One Love - BRFC
Oklahoma Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 1-2 for Rovers. Benni and MGP score. Don't really care who scores for them lol.
Gav Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 2-1 Rovers and 1500-2000 expected to travel according to ticket office this am.
Martin Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 The thing M'boro have that many teams don't is a massive inconsistency. It could quite easily be 3 or 4-0 either way.
Craigman Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I would say 3-0 to Middlesbrough with Brad saving a penalty and Ooijer and Nelsen sent off, Nelsen's to be rescinded by mid week.
Eddie Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Well, I'll try to start the season with a positive prediction: 4-0 Rovers
LeftWinger Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Loving the optimistic predictions at the moment. If we lose, come 5pm on Saturday, it'll be the usual "what a load of rubbish", "hughes out", "dunn not good enough" etc. etc. For the record I think we'll win 2-0
OJRovers Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Any update on the sort of numbers we are taking? Someone yesterday mentioned 1500-2000, that would be great. I'm going - can't wait.
frosty Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I think if we can get an early goal we will go on and win - the fans would get on their backs and the players heads would drop.
LeftWinger Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Betting Preview Teamtalks betting column has tipped a Rovers win and McCarthy to score at anytime.
