I only knew 2 of West Brom players. the other 9 I had no idea who they were.

You should try watching some football now and again then.

Well done to Steve Kean today. I hope he makes the right signings in January because ultimately this is where he has the opportunity to shine. I don't expect this result to change anything in terms of how people perceive him - most seem to have made their minds up already.

3-1 made me smile.

Give Kean a chance. 10 games is a better time to judge rather than after 3.

Personally, as I've said before, I think he's got something about him and I think he will get better as a manager and we'll get better as a team. Frankly, our luck in the previous two games was awful... Turn about is fair play though.

What a terrible article that is, someone who doesnt really no what they are talking about, trying to be clever, but in reality the article doesnt make any sense at all.

Quite frankly I am fed up of the negative press we always seem to get. We got it when BFS was in charge, for playing negative percentage football, then when BFS was sacked, and even now because a BRITISH coach has been given a chance to prove himself. How often to we hear the media, former players complaining there isnt enough British coach's been given a chance to prove themselves. I cant understand why the press are getting on his back, because their beloved BFS got sacked. The same BFS they ridiculed when he said he could manage Real Madrid, the same BFS who employed negative tactics they would question.

I for one am sick of the chicken jokes and puns in the paper, on SSN, its been done, get over it, its not funny anymore Geoff Steling. Why are there never any jokes or puns about West Ham owners sullivan and gould, who made there money from selling sex toys and porn?? I like most people feel the way they went about the sacking of BFS was wrong, but they want us to be a team that plays positive football, clearly BFS isnt the right man to do that. I'm still not 100% Steve Kean is either, the time to judge will be at the end of the season. Whilst he is in charge lets get behind him, and the players, the support today from the fans was top class.

Will be interesting to see what negative spin certain sections of the media will put on the result, perhaps they will focus on Kali's poor challenge, rather than the good football we played, and the good positive support we had today.

Just happy to see egg on a few faces...some that seem to be ducking for cover right now.

The lack of respect shown to someone who was a coach for the past 18 months and has fully served his apprenticeship has been quite disgusting.

The bandwagon-jumping blethers have shown a few folk up too.

You judge this regime at the end of January when their 'plan' starts to take shape - and signings are made. That was an astonishing result in the circumstances. Your bench at Sunderland will be full of unknowns now too.

There will be three or four managers who will find their clubs don't back them and their judgement in the transfer market next month...at least your owners had the bottle to make that decision sooner.

How about the lack of respect shown to the last manager?

Desperately important result today after the crap of the last fortnight but nicko you must surely know that one swallow does not a summer make?

Fantastic result today! Sunderland lost 2-0 at home to Blackpool so why can't we shake them?

I think Salgado got a yellow so he's suspended. Kalinic is suspended.

My formation against Sunderland would be with players available:

Robinson/Bunn

Emerton, Nelsen, Samba, Olsson

Hoilett, Pedersen, Dunn, Morris, EH Diouf

MB Diouf

I think this is the game to give Josh Morris a chance, if Samba has other thoughts then play Hanley.

Injured:

Roberts

Grella

Andrews

Nzonzi

Suspended:

Salgado

Kalinic

Jones is also injured

Another change could be too put in Givet as left back and set Olsson as a left wideman.

The writer comes across as a right

Not often I result to name calling.....but

What a @#/?!

And reporters actually get paid for writing stuff like that?

What a cocknose

In my opinion you're all being a little too polite about this 'tard who gives a bad name to a profession who often make footballers look articulate and of moderate temperatment.......

A quote from the duffer last year -

By Derek McGovern 22/08/2009

"A year ago the Red Devils signed flop Dimitar Berbatov for £32million.

Fergie publicly backs the bone-idle Bulgarian but privately must be searching everywhere for the receipt.

Fergie also picked up Michael Owen on a free but was still robbed. There's even talk that Fergie's job is on the line, with Hills quoting him at 9-2 not to be manager at the end of the season. But United are not a firing club. United are a misfiring club."

I'm surprised he even stoops to mention minnows like us - we should be honored not annoyed.......

Important quote from Kean in that article, in regards to Samba:

Kean added: “I spoke to him today and I was saying to him ‘let me know what’s in your mind’. He went, ‘I haven’t asked to leave the club. I’ve not put in a verbal request or a written request. All I’ve said is that if a bigger club comes in then I might want to go, but I’m not seeking to move’.

“Since I went to India and came back and gave him the information that the new owners want to build a team, first of all to maintain a top-ten position this season and then kick on next season he was very positive and said, ‘I’m happy with that. I’m very happy to stay and be part of this’. That was really positive news.”

Silly talk.

One swallow does not make a summer. 18 months as a coach means he's served his apprenticeship? You can't be serious, surely? 18 months as second- or third-in-command does not mean that you're overdue for a manager's job in the Prem.

He wins one game in three and suddenly there's egg on faces.

I think there's a bit of bias going on here.

It's called giving someone a chance. Kean is certainly well qualified. He hasn't been a manager before, but as he said himself, he's done everything but. There will be blips along the way, but after today's match I have every confidence that Kean will prove himself. He may not produce the histronics pitchside like some (which are most entertaining but not really necessary) and conducts himself in a quiet, calm manner. I'm willing to bet that he doesn't miss much though. I wondered, for example, when someone would realise that Givet has been a bit of a liability of late and Lo! there he sits on the bench. Whilst I like Gael a great deal he has allowed a few unnecessary goals to be scored rather too easily by the opposition.

Kean has more difficult choices over the next few games than Sam ever had, with current injuries and suspensions rife. No doubt his critics will be licking their lips in the hope of failure - shame on them.

Mrs Desai will get extra flak because she's a woman, but I have a feeling that she is a lot smarter than most recognise, and also that whilst it may indeed be true that she does not know a great deal about football, she learns fast.

Granted the PR has been awful over the recent past - but it's all part of the learning curve, and hopefully will improve.

My main concern at the moment is whether the new owners will stand by their decision to provide funds to improve the squad, without pussyfooting about and missing/losing targets.

really? After everything that's happened with Venkys and all the negative comments attributed towards her and the brothers have you seen even one mention of her gender as being a detrimental factor in her ability to help us out? That's almost as bad as saying that anyone who doesn't like her and her brothers must also be racist too, as they're Indian.

Yes, and how did she get out the kitchen anyway to answer the questions to the reporters?

Did they make her chain too long

Actually I remember seeing someone say something like "that's what happens when you put a woman in charge", albeit jokingly.

Have to admit that it all balances out because I also read a ridiculous article written by a woman, gushing over Mrs Desai and heavily criticising Big Sam, that was about as feminist as an article can get.

It shouldn't really matter though, we have plenty of female managers at work, no one with a decent level of maturity has any problems with them.

Actually, on the subject of our female owner, I wondered if the reason Sam was fired was after he made the "they defended like a bunch of women with handbags" comment after the Bolton game!

Well done Steve Kean for a superb win in all the circumstances and with our injury problems.

Was I guilty of a knee jerk reaction in suggesting Mr. Kean needed to be replaced after Sunday's game?. I really really hope so.

Nicko has been absolutely steadfast in his support of Kean and as such I think he is more than entitled to dish out a bit of flak. Whether it continues is of course remains to be seen. But a couple more good results and what's the betting we have a squad full of happy campers and it's a case of "Sam who?"

Looking at the broader picture we're probably three points behind where we'd ideally like to have been had Sam remained in charge but no-one would have expected us to get anything much at Sunderland so if Kean can pull out a win there as well it's 28 points and probably as you were.

Three goals in an away game. That's not actually allowed is it?

As long as he accepts flak in return.

Something he's not very good at at times.
