Exiled in Toronto Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Not sorry if Diouf goes - he was part of the bitter cup we had to drink in order to stay up. He's way to slow for the way we have been playing recently; his 4 goals from 62 appearances was frankly pathetic for an attacking midfielder, and the only thing he was good for was holding play up and getting free kicks. New era

BuckyRover Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If Larsson is his replacement then it's a great move. Buy low (earners), sell high (earners) while maintaining or even improving the quality.
Hughesy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 But one of the best players for us so far this season. Early part of season yes - now he's struggling to get a game ahead of Hoilett. He's slow like people say - and everyone knows about his wind-up skills....he's a decent player, but one which needs replacing in the next 6 months if we want to move forward......AND if Larsson is a deffo then it makes sense.
modes98 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Arsenal will definitely be in the market after this news reported on the BBC: 1715: Meanwhile, BBC Radio 5 Live are reporting that Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen will undergo surgery on a torn Achilles tendon on Tuesday and is expected to be out of action until March. Scott Dann of Brum out for the rest of the season so they might be out shopping as well now. Wenger is stubborn to the point of stupidity so you never know with him. Birmingham may be in the market but more for a Left back. Ridgewell slots in nicely at CB and that still leaves them with depth at CB. LB they only really have Murphy, who they used to rate, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either a specialist LB or a CB who can cover both positons. If Larsson is his replacement then it's a great move. Buy low (earners), sell high (earners) while maintaining or even improving the quality. Judging by the comments from Birmingham and also from the north east I don't think his salary will be that mcuh lower. The talk is he is looking for something in around the £40k mark and I would presume that is similar to what EHD is on. However I still think it is an upgrade and worth it.
thenodrog Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 My concern is people see you getting away with it with Nicko (who, as you say and give as much as he takes) and they assume they can get away with it with other people who are less understanding of the ways on internet debating. Glenn, you must admit that nicko rather does over egg the pudding on occasions. Coyle was one and similar with his sudden overwhelming support for Steve Kean. Where did that come from? Sorry but I don't buy into divine inspiration, burning bushes and the face of God appearing in the clouds. Adams is as good as he is, Lionel Messi he is not.
thenodrog Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Once again I am just shocked and appalled by people wanting Dunn to leave. I understand that if he does not overcome his problems he may not be in our starting 11 anymore, but we need someone like him around the club. Some people here believe that a player who actually cares for the club he plays for is at best some unneeded bonus that we can easily do without. The time comes when everybody needs to be stood down MrE. It happened with Bryan Douglas and Ronnie Clayton and they never beggared off to Birmingham nor uttered threats about moving on in order to secure a new contract like Dunny did just 12 months ago. Don't for goodness sake feel sorry for someone who's enjoyed a Prem league contract for the past dozen years or so. on SSN has just said that EHD can leave rovers on a free transfer and one PL club is interest but are in the bottom 3. interest news Then we could sign Seb Larrson now rather than wait to the summer. would tie in to what nicko was saying I can imagine this. Like Dunny Diouffy's another Allardyce man and Kean's obviously intent on getting shot of em all and asap.
nick123 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Tell you later Is it the fact we are fed up of his late night antics hours before games ?
Valois Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I suspect Diouf leaving is a mixture of things. Surplus to requirements, big wages, lack of pace, controversy which seems to follow him around like a bad smell. His interview in regards to the Warnock/Mackie incident wouldnt have done him any favours. Kean said he was going to investigate the whole matter, and speak with the players who were around Diouf when it was all kicking off. One of those was Nelsen, who is as honest as the day is long, perhaps he has told Kean how it was, Diouf over stepped the mark, made some comments which may have been out of term, and then Diouf denied saying anything on SSN. Maybe Nicko can clear up the matter later on.
thenodrog Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 OK it is only the Daily Star but they report on Kean seeing Vazquez as the long term replacement for Dunn. The article also carries some more strong words from Dave Whelan about Rovers' new ownership and urging them not to listen to that agent. That is lazy journalism by the daily Star philip. Those comments were lifted straight from a Radio 5 interview which Dave Whelan gave to Stuart Hall before yesterdays Wigan v Fulham encounter. I did post about it somewhere on here but I cant rem where and it might easily have been moderated out by now.
Ricky Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I'm excited about Johnson, I really think that's the positions we've been struggling for since n'zonzi got injured. Hopefully we can shift keef and have grella put down. I'd let Dunn go. If Vasquez is half as good as he looks he'll take dunn's place. I can't see how anybody can complain about our transfer operations so far. We just need to sort the left back now and I'll be happy.

Struggling because Kean prefers Hoilett's style/pace. I think Diouf can do a job still, he has been performing well so why shift him out now? At least wait until the summer or demand a fee for him..

I have to say, Jones fits the bill in terms of what we need so much. Box to box, can get stuck in, and also pick a pass when need be. Him and a replacement for Big Dave would see our midfield be very promising.

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If Larsson is his replacement then it's a great move. Buy low (earners), sell high (earners) while maintaining or even improving the quality. Can't see Larsson coming here as a " low earner ". I'd wager he'll be adjacent to Diouff on the wages front if we do sign him. I can't see the point unless he can play centre midfield as well.

Guest linganzi Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I can't see the harm in having him around till summer unless there things we don't know

I would agree Ricky, IF these players sign and are as good as we believe they are, certainly, Roques first touch an link play yesterday was one that has been lacking, hopefully with a stronger midfield we can push on!

Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I respect Keith Andrews' work ethic and I don't begrudge him coming to us at all, and I certainly don't hate him like some on here do, but if we get a couple of new midfielders in it's time to pack him off to the Championship. El Hadji can go too, get him off the wage bill. I'd be sad to see Dunny leave again, but if we get half the moves we're working on then he won't be starting much. Exciting times.
thenodrog Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 B- If you are going to make statements don't hold back, say what you BELIEVE to be the case or say nothing. Either way is fine, express your opinion or not, your choice, but don't hint to it and say nothing. Sorry I can no longer say what I believe to be the case. I'm no longer allowed to post anything directly negative about the new owners, the manager, Kentaro or Jerome Anderson. Only positive spin can be applied from now on. Oh btw RoverMad86..... The same applies to you and everybody else who wishes to post on here so you'll have to get used to it. btw 2 Don't blame the owners / admin of the board either!
SergioPeter89 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Norwegian 11`o clocker today Nicko? Same time zone as Holland.
thenodrog Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If Larsson is his replacement then it's a great move. Buy low (earners), sell high (earners) while maintaining or even improving the quality. If you pay peanuts you'll get monkeys. However I don't believe Larsen will be cheap and RSC's wages will totall blow your theory out of the window.
