[Archived] Steve Kean video

Recommended Posts

You're asking why the source of this video didn't release it until now?

In your desire to try and identify him, you have somewhat answered your own question.

Regardless of timing, I'd say this guy has stuck his neck on the line in posting that video.

The delay in release obviously demonstrates his reluctance in being identified so people should respect that.

I am told the guy who did it was recognised by Kean, says he was a funny looking guy smiling, bowing and with slits for eyes!

Sorry to pour cold water on all this, but as long as Kean is holding the tape with Mrs. D and the donkey then I presume he is still safe ?

Although, should that have got wiped by mistake, I presume Kean's performance would merit dismissal without compensation ?

We all know that Venky's operate in a different way to 'the norm' but I think Coco will be off to India as though nothing has happened.

In organisations that I have worked in, he would have been dismissed by midday today, feet wouldn't have touched the ground - given obligatory interview, asked to explain then goodnight Vienna.

Sorry, but if he gets on that plane with his wife, he's safe IMO.

This is absolutely feckin disastous - not only is his record as a manager diabolical but he has, IMO, been a key figure in destroying our club and bringing it into disrepute.

TBH, I am sick to the feckin teeth with football in general and Rovers in particular. Why the hell does the ordinary working guy bother when imbeciles seemingly get away with, figuratively murder, and are able to bank huge, huge sums of money.

As I said earlier, if Venky's choose not to sack him it just makes them look even worse. They're the cancer, so anything that hurts them is good. More ammunition for the media and fans to fire at them in future. Desai is being made to look an absolute fool time and time again, long may it continue as long as she holds power at this club.

It's not just legalities he'll be worried about. Not a nice thing if you get unwanted attention and made to look bad in the public eye. His employers or future employers may take a dim view of being involved in something so sleazy like this expose. He could be portrayed as untrustworthy as a result.

Also anyone can sue anyone for anything. It doesn't mean that they'll win but it wouldn't be pleasant for the young man who released it. That's if he could afford to fight his corner.

if coco gets sacked for it, then the guy is a hero and a collection shpuld be made for any legal costs

The video shows the man to be a numpty, which we already knew, But I dont see it being that dammning now at this time to be honest, this will no doubt blow over soon and Kean will still be here.

The people who had the video should have released this a long long, long time ago, I actually put them also at blame for the death of our club, that had a tool to stop it and the selfishly didnt use it until it was too late.

are you joking? I know the lads involved; they travel everywhere to follow rovers; hence their presence in hong kong. To blame them for the death of our club and to brandish them selfish is ridiculous and ill-thought.

If I had been involved in the filming of the video, i would only have released it as a last resort, which is effectively what they have done. They have jobs and lives away from rovers; do they really need the kind of publicity they are potentially about to get, and further the worry of any legal ramifications?

At the time, these lads were of the opinion that kean was okay in the sense that how many other premiership managers would have a beer with them in a bar and socialise with them? Or indeed be so candidly frank in his views with them! It must have taken a lot for these lads to almost 'betray' kean. Whilst I have never liked kean, I have only really 'despised' him in the last few weeks. I am sure these lads probably feel the same, hence the timing of it's release.

Further if they had released the video midway through the season, and we had subsequently been relegated, they would have been derided by sections of rovers fans and the media for destablising the clubs fight against relegation. Dammed if they do, dammed if they don't.

Funnily enough, a friend of mine said to me this morning that he wouldn't be surprised if somebody on brfcs blamed these lads. I dismissed this and thought it was nonsence that anybody would do that. Clearly i was wrong!!

As for the video itself, i don't think any of the points Kean makes will bring about his downfall. As Kamy and others have previously said, his constant swearing in the video and his overall demeanour will hopefully not impress Desai!

Is this a breach of contract that could result in dismissal without compensation?

I think the financial aspect of this could be the swaying point for Mrs. Desai. If they can fire him without having to pay a penny in compensation for early termination, then he will surely have more chance of getting the boot!

Don;t think it is a risk in that sense at all. Loads of these sorts of videos come out, no one is ever prosecuted for not seekeing permission in my recollection.

As far as I'm aware that only relates to surveillance (tracking someone's whereabouts) doesn't it?

Problem is that if Kean has dirt on Venky's he'll wanna take them down with him.

I know it's a law for companies with call centres... They have to legally state they are recording conversations, but maybe different rules for individuals? I would imagine there's definitely legal remit for something like this though. It's a privacy breach.

But given this was taken in a public bar, with Kean and (probably) the fans intoxicated then it probably would be easy to get the case dropped if Kean did take legal action. Even so, no one wants to get taken to court regardless.

surely the LMA should have something to say about it ... have they been sent a copy?

Yes they have along with an email asking why he did not get manager of the year at the award ceremony last night considering their glowing defence of his dignity earlier in the season.

The LMA will now deplore the "invasion of privacy " and the wilful " continuing abuse" of Saint Steve..

Venky's will now reward his success at working under such traumatic conditons by awarding him a lifetime contract as joint CEO/Secretary/Finance Director, Manager and Chief Coach !

Kean has been seen and heard to call or rather infer that the owners of Rovers believe Sam Alladyce to be a CROOK. That's what he said.

This has to be a matter for the PL (Sam may be there next season) and most certainly for the LMA.

IMO we will hear S F A from either esteemed body.
