RibbleValleyRover Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 He's suffered a setback: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10258924._/ We seem to be picking up a lot of injuries either in training or games. Olsson, Williamson, King, Richards and now possibly Best. Not a good sign.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 It's a worry given he's had two massive injuries to the same knee now (unless I'm mistaken). Not many people make it back from there as the same player. Niggles like this are going to be a regular occurence one would imagine. Ah well, DJ and Rhodes it is .
Backroom Tom Posted February 28, 2013 Backroom Posted February 28, 2013 Real shame I imagine he was due some game time soon
davulsukur Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 It does say that he will get a late check for Saturdays game, so i can't be that bad a set back?
LeChuck Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 It does say that he will get a late check for Saturdays game, so i can't be that bad a set back? Yeah I think it's not unusual for players to get minor niggles when returning after a long period out of the game. If he's still in contention for Saturday then it's obviously not anything to worry about.
Majiball Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Better safe than sorry on this one as the last thing we need is a relapse. Don't include him the squad there's no point as we have bugger all to play for really. He's bound to have issues coming back with this type of injury but caution is now required. I do wonder now whether since training has increased massively whether recovery is being given the holistic approach needed and required.
Mercer Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Knee injuries are notoriously bad and recovery from major surgery / injury can lead to the onset of tendonitis, through repetitive overloading of the knee during rehab, which can finish a player (Owen Hargreaves). Rovers will obviously want to play this setback down but I doubt if he has any chance at all of coming under consideration for Posh. To me, the ominous bit is that he has suffered 'a reaction', rather than a knock - unfortunately, don't think this augurs well.
Stuart Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 The cynic in me starts to see why we were able to sign a guy of Best's quality.

Better to write him off, get a pre-season under his belt, and see where he stands (or IF he can stand, that is).

Its now one on each knee of the same injury i think which is grim news, both knees knackered...

RibbleValleyRover Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 When else are we going to suffer injuries? I don't understand your point. I am concerned about the amount of injuries we have picked up in such a short space of time. It could just simply be a case of bad luck, or it could be that we are doing something wrong in training. It doesn't help that in my opinion the management team was at fault with King's injury. It was clear going into the game that he was rushed back too soon having picked up hamstring injury in the previous game, he then tore that hamstring early in the next game. You have also got to keep in mind that this team has looked unfit under the previous two managers, are the current setup pushing the players too hard too quickly? Could that be why we are seeing so many injuries? I think it's valid question to ask.

Ok well Olsson was clearly bad luck/freakish KIng, silly bringing him back too soon Williamson - run of the mill injury Richards - as above We aren't invincible

I don't belive the type of injuries are down to poor training regimen, I think there you see hamstring and strains of various nature.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 It just gets worse, even Grella and Gilliver played a few games.
Alex Rover Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 There's a lot of Physio's on here http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10273262.Leon_Best_in_frame_for_Blackburn_Rovers_cup_start/?ref=twt
ABBEY Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 any truth he's been slagging PLASTIC ROVERS FANS ? anyone who critices is a plastic fan. I woke up with a couple of texts from different people saying this, ive found nothing though. I am not slating him ........yet.

I haven't heard or seen anything but I will slate him for his attitude and lack of effort. In this respect he matches Murphy and Etuhu and that takes some doing.
G Somerset Rover Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 He certainly doesn't seem interested from what I've seen. He'll be off like a shot if (when) we go down.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 He would be no real loss. I thought the signing was a bad one in the first place considering his history with knee injuries and poor goal scoring record.
allan Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Best was a poor signing. Totally over-rated. Was a one season (out of 4) success at Coventry and a bit-part player at Toon. Has a poor sulky attitude, lazy and injury-prone.
Torgeir Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 He's just come back from a serious knee injury, give the lad a break. It takes up to a year to recover physically from an injury like that and up to another year to recover mentally and trust that the knee will hold up. Some never recover fully because of one or the other. This season is a write-off and Best shouldn't be playing too much, but at the moment we don't have enough quality and options either. Squad needs a major overhaul, but Best may still come good - especially at this level. Just give him some more time.
