We have Evans and Lenihan who are good enough..

Byrne is unknown at this level

Lowe ok but prefer him at right back

Akpan is decent but we could do better.

Hardcastle is good young player but can he step up?

O'Sullivan could do a job there

We could do with 1 more but I think we need a left back and 2 striker 1st

Depends on what your exoectstions are Chaddy, not sure any of those are good enough to push for top 6... Not that it is a realistic expecation, its just that what every team should be aspiring to.

Spot on. And every team needs a couple of players who are of that quality in their team. We've got that in a few places (for now) but cm along with full backs and keeper look the weak links in our team Imo.

Agreed but with our finances the way they are I don't see how we could afford Bridcutt?We have other positions that need prioritising

The CM options we have are pretty good, the best we've had for quite a while. Evans was a regular in a side that got promoted to the Prem a few years ago. If he stays fit he'll be a very good player in this league, as he showed when he joined and started to show again last season. Doyle could be a revelation if he's as good as rumoured. Lenihan showed last season he could turn into a 'proper' midfielder, as Souey used to call em. Akpan is a decent squad player but hopefully nowhere near being a regular, He seems to be missing a football brain and is far too slow to react to situations. Lowe is more suited to RB but again could do a job in midfield occasionally. Not sure Guthrie will ever be fit eniough.

According to today's LT a striker, left-back and goalkeeper are the positions still being looked at. Whetther that's true or not...

Dreading the potential sale of Hanley or Duffy. More than anyone we need to keep those two.

easy done. ..... We've still only 2 strikers and if Mansell makes the step up then fine that's 3 we still need another one , one that offers something different to what Graham and Stokes bring , whether that's someone with blistering pace or a big big lump and I also think there's room in the squad for someone like Gomez/Gally/Powell who can link the midfield to the forwards , Fryers is interesting because he can play L/b C/b and the left of a 3 at the back if we go down that road , which seems to becoming popular again ... And as far as a keeper is concerned , why not offer Shay Given 12months ??? Yes I know he's Over 40 now but we forget , in terms of a GK they don't reach there peak until 30 and so Steele and Raya could learn so much and improve so much working alongside him

Coyle waxing lyrical about Scottish players. Not sure 'they punch above their weight' anymore, they stopped producing great players about 30 years ago. Hendry's generation were perhaps the last and even they were a downgrade on the times when the likes of Souness and Dalglish's were developed.

Matty asked Bowyer last season away at Rotherham if he could sign him Bowyer replied that he couldn't afford him at the time.

I'm dammed if Matty couldn't be a very good third striker at Rovers in this current moment. Lads who want to play for the club ignored for another agency's bitch. They know Matty and Gally would play for the shirt and probably put their men out of place.

Just out of interest why did he ask bowyer when lambert was manager when we played Rotherham away

What he really means is that they're cheap.

The fact a lot of players from Scotland go to League 1 teams and vice versa shows the standard of Scottish football. Still give it a year or so and that'll be our level.

This is why it is so difficult to judge how good or otherwise a signing Anthony Stokes is. He's better than Chris Brown though, that is for certain.

Gomez has another 12 months at Sunderland.

He's been told to find another club. I don't believe there would be a fee involved. But do we want him?

If he where to come on a ,Pay as you play deal, with no lucrative contract to sit on, then yes.

. Agree very difficult to assess from Scotish league,just hope he's not another Goodwille,still think the most influencel player will be Byrne.
