Backroom Madon Posted 13 hours ago Backroom Posted 13 hours ago I've been watching it, he played awesome in the first half! 1 Quote
Exiled_Rover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Can only assume the standard in La Liga is shite then. Quote
Wheelton Blue Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I've watched both Espanyol games so far, tonight's game was entertaining. Dolan has done well so far on the right wing. His crossing has noticeably improved. Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Can only assume that some members of the Ewood Park jury were wrong. When is he disappearing without trace Nyambe style then ? 4 Quote
Backroom Silas Posted 11 hours ago Backroom Posted 11 hours ago Not being funny, but there's all high praise on here, but google has him lowest ranked of the 6 attacking players. He's actually joint second lowest from the entire Espanyol team at 3.7. Haven't watched a minute since he's been gone. But there's either some misty eyed confirmation bias going on from his longstanding supporters. Or google is way off the mark. To quantify, google is pretty close to the mark on Rovers games etc I do watch. Certainly ballpark. So something doesn't add up here. I'll make an effort to view with my own eyes though, just to head off the cheerleader backlash. 😉 1 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago The fact he's even at a club like that starting games in La Lige kind of suggests he was never as crap as his constant knockers on here like to make out. Frustrating yes, crap ..no. 8 Quote
Andy Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I think most of the frustration from Rovers fans were down to us believing that there was a player in there - he just never seemed to grow out of the unnecessary stepovers and pivots. Had he stuck to the basics and worked harder on things like crossing and finishing, he'd be much higher rated. However, hopefully a fresh start for him will help him kick on. 1 Quote

I always thought he’d get a better move than being here by letting his contract run out, but surprised he ended up at somewhere like Espanyol. But in two appearances he has looked good for them. Just look on twitter. These are just a handful of examples. Edited 10 hours ago by Hasta 1 Quote
Ossydave Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago He will play well on his first start, his problem will be doing it on a regular basis, same as it was here. 1 Quote
Ghost7 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I've seen enough of Dolan to know that in the long run it won't work out for him in La Liga. I don't even need to monitor it. He got a free transfer move to a nearly relegated La Liga side. They look absolutely desperate and have put together a side of almost entirely free transfers and loans again this year. After spending nothing the year before. I'm thankful we don't have to watch him running down blind alleys, hitting tame "shots", weak crosses and taking on no one in the Championship anymore..... Amar'i Bell and Cauley Woodrow made Premier League appearances. Move on. We needed better. Him leaving should absolutely benefit our attack if we spend a bit of money. 1 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago To be fair, I dont think anyone expected him to do well in La Liga. Its more that some were trying to suggest that he had ideas beyond his station and should have accepted our poor offer, especially as he didnt accept something straight away. 1 Quote

Happy to be proved wrong. I'm rooting for him, honest. But I find this love-in a bit odd. Can totally get it with Adam W and others. But Dolan. Hmmm, suspicious that some are desperate to be proved 'right'. 1 Quote

John Buckley's agent should, in my opinion, be sounding out a move like that. He maybe could do something in a slower and more technical league. Albeit, it would seem that technically he has regressed, on the occasions he appears. Personally, I feel at one stage he was near Adam Wharton's level of technicality, though not, it has proven, the mental side. Quote

Buckley hasnt done that. The type of player whose style makes him look graceful and elegant, but when you watch him for a bit, you realise hes not very good. Quote

What a difference from the first game of the season vs Swansea in (I think) 2021-22. I really thought Buckley (in the ‘Rothwell’ role) and Dolan (up front) were going to develop into PL quality players, they were both superb that day. Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Find it a bit bizarre that the Dolan haters, having already been proved wrong on whether or not he would get a decent move, are now doubling down by saying he won't make it in La Liga etc etc even though he appears to have made a decent enough start. I really dont know what he's done to warrant such hostility. At worst for us he was a solid performer who unlike most gave 110% every time he was out on the pitch. 4 Quote
Mattyblue Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago End of the day those that were ‘pro’ Dolan on here merely said he was no world beater but just a decent Championship player and would have no problem getting a decent move. The ‘anti’ Dolan posters said he was crap, a few said he would end up in League 1. The ‘pros’ were always right, not because they were a set of sages, but because it should’ve been blatantly obvious to anybody they watches a fair amount of Championship level football. 8 Quote
Tim Southampton Rover Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago Whatever you make of his time at Rovers - brilliant, frustrating, somewhere in between - I genuinely hope he does great in Spain. He always came across as a great guy who respected the fans and had time for them. And if he shines over there, it reflects well on us too. Come to Blackburn, prove yourself, and who knows? You could follow Dolan to La Liga or join Wharton and Raya in the Premier League. 2 Quote

Hmmm, suspicious that some are desperate to be proved 'right'. Proved right about what? That he could get an upward move than Rover? That was obvious. I don’t think anyone was saying he would be a top Prem or La Liga player. He’s done better than the vast majority expected (with regards to his move) so people are curious to see how he gets on.
