JacknOry Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 As long as his fitness stands up - I reckon we're going to get a fantastic season from JRC. Love his passion - have to admit I thought he was heading for the scrap heap. Fair play to him as aside from Wharton, he was probably my favourite player last season. 1 Quote

BRFC4EVA Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 Delighted to see the new contract signed. Ever since the Junior H debacle I always get a little nervous when a new contract is supposedly a 'done deal', yet weeks go by and you hear owt. Fully deserved, hopefully he carries on his form from last season into this! 1 Quote
arbitro Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 I've been told the early prognosis on Joe's hamstring injury is twelve weeks out and potential surgery. That's a huge blow to both Joe and Rovers. 1 Quote

I think he would have scored quite a few goals this season, he was making some great runs into the box from CM and clearly has a knack for scoring (one of the few in our team that does have that knack). We desperately need to strengthen in January. 1 Quote

As you say we need to strengthen in January in a few areas. 1 Quote
47er Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 JRC is injury-prone--another one. So unlucky. We will miss him hugely. 1 Quote

It's amazing how quickly all those positions have become major headaches. 2 Quote

We are going to be hampered by the lack in depth, due to limited funds which led to limited recruitment. Only one part of the club to blame for this and it isn't the coaching staff or the physios 4 Quote

riverholmes Posted Friday at 15:48 Posted Friday at 15:48 (edited) Joe Rankin-Costello still only 25 but injury-hindered, over the years, leaves for Charlton. My overriding thought is where is the next JRC coming through the ranks? In his early days, he was a real prospect and contributed 100+appearances having some decent runs in the team. He came through with likes of Travis and Buckley, so an end of a cycle may be arriving. He had some tremendous moments, as well as falling away badly. One game sticking in the mind was the Newcastle tie in a cup when he played in a back three, if I remember rightly, and looked impressive on the ball, albeit, his lack of pace wasn’t tested. Mattyblue Posted Friday at 16:13 Posted Friday at 16:13 Not a single post on his thread for over four years says a fair bit. Decent run of form under JDT, but largely average displays either side (when not injured). Bits and pieces player. 1 Quote

That game away at Huddersfield, under JDT, he was like a man possessed and almost single handedly dragged us back in to the game for 2 down, Hedges last minute leveller. 4 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted Friday at 16:23 Posted Friday at 16:23 Good luck to JRC was a good squad man for a spell but clearly slowed up by injuries. Sensible signing for a few hundred grand for a newly promoted club he seems like a good pro to have around the place. Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted Friday at 17:39 Posted Friday at 17:39 was the right time to move on,was brilliant under jdt but never got a look in with eustace or val, gets injured a lot was well Quote
Hasta Posted Friday at 17:55 Posted Friday at 17:55 As mentioned, he had that purple patch under JDT including Huddersfield and QPR away but just hasn’t done it regular enough. Good luck to him, but he’s one of the ones we can afford to lose. 2 Quote

roversfan99 Posted Friday at 22:21 Posted Friday at 22:21 We don't want him to boost Charlton, we need them to be as crap as possible. We want as many teams as possible to be worse. Quote
arbitro Posted Saturday at 06:11 Posted Saturday at 06:11 In some ways I'm sorry to see Joe leave but it's absolutely the right move for his career. He is 26 now and needs to be playing and keeping fit although the latter was, I believe one of his downfalls at Rovers. Tomasson got the best out of him and his performance at Huddersfield a few seasons ago was outstanding (although we only drew the game) but one of my best memories was against Bradford in the League Cup. We had Phillips and Morton as centre halves and they had a grizzly old centre forward called Andy Cooke who was bullying them physically and verbally. Joe smashed him with a couple of tackles and got in his face when we equalised. Job done. He also got stuck into Cork after the final whistle when that lot beat us at Ewood. Cork had gone over the top on Dolan and should have been sent off. Good luck to Joe. 6 Quote
