I suspect that - should home fixtures be altered at the whim of Sky which impacted Chaddy's ability to attend - his tune would change.

'I'm alright, Jack', used to be the phrase, I believe.

My attendance of home games wouldn't be impact by Sky changing the kick off times.

That's not what I said. Rather, I implied that 'if' your attendance was affected, you would have a different take. You know, a hypothetical situation....

I enjoy reading a lot of your posts, Chaddy, But more often than not, you either cannot see, or refuse to see, the opinion and situation of others. It comes across as all about you, I'm afraid.

I have an alternative name for the Season Ticket thread.

I call it (like plenty of others, actually) the Chaddy Show.

Chaddy is one of those posters that rile up people with some of the stuff he posts but he'd be missed if he wasn't here and you can't doubt his dedication to Rovers

I have very good reasons why I cannot attend away games currently. So please don't go there.

Its not about just you and how you are affected. My point about away games was that others who do attend WILL be affected. That last quote sums your lack of empathy up to a tee. As long as you are ok.

His next reply will be write to the club if you don't like it,

i'm surprised we are on so much.Sky usually go for teams with the biggest support to get the viewers,Leeds,Newcastle and Villa come to mind when they were in the championship

Guys, given that Football fixtures have been moved for the last 30 years for TV coverage since the Sky came into Football. We have also have games moved Police reasons, Cos we played in Europe on Thursday, etc.

You should by now that if your team is doing well in the Championship then there is a high chance a number of games will be moved for TV coverage. Just imagine if we get promotion this season and get the Premier League we will have games moved TV coverage, other teams European games and possible other reasons.

Yep, typical response. No empathy for anyone with potential inconveniences that he doesn't. Also the fact that games in general have been moved for TV historically doesn't mean that is fair or even unfixable to be arrange with the current lack of thought towards match going fans.

Maybe after 30 years off having games moved I have accept it part of football and that is how British football is. Sky and TV companies have been great for British football and raising the profile of the British football.

Yes it does cause inconveniences for some fans cos kick off times, changing of days, etc

How it took me so long to realise this, I'll never know!

There is no reason for that sort of comments cos I don't agree with you and other posters on different subjects or that I am willing to accept the situation more quickly than others or understand the problems with manufacturing and Logistical problems from the Far East in terms of Shirts for example.

You are missing the point again. Of course everybody knows why games get moved, but that doesn’t mean that match going fans, especially the travelling support are not massively inconvenienced by it.

And it does have an adverse effect on season ticket sales for a club like us magnified more by rising prices.

I have never suggested that games shouldnt be on TV. I merely proposed a potential capping of them broadcasting more than a certain number of games for one specific team within any time period to minimise disruption to any individual fanbase. Sky dont care about inconveniencing supporters though, and seemingly because it doesnt affect you personally, neither do you.

If what Sparks posted about the fee being paid to Rovers of 100k per Saturday morning k.o is correct then unfortunately we, as fans, need to accept the reality of it being more financially beneficial to be on tele than at 3pm.

There's no way we gain an extra £100,000 in match tickets per game. I'd argue we'd be on for a fraction of that in the majority of cases

100,000 at £30 a ticket is over 3,000 walk ons. Do we get that per Saturday 3pm game? And that's assuming everybody pays £30

Finances talk in football and clubs clearly enjoy the financial benefits of being on TV

It is what it is. If we stay towards the top we will be on a hell of a lot by May. ‘Those who pay the piper’ and all that.

It’s the disregard for fans re timings that annoys me. Rovers v Cardiff on NYD at noon, ridiculous for any travelling fan and there could easily have been a different slot found over the festive period, but that wouldn’t even have been a consideration by the broadcaster for a second.

Though some of the blame has to be on the EFL for even scheduling such fixtures on a festive bank holiday. It should be local/local-ish fixtures only like it used to be. So Lancs/Yorks fixtures for clubs around here and then if chosen for TV it wouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.

But why would any TV company to cover games that don’t involve the teams at the top of the league.

It does affect me but I just accept that games get moved for TV purposes (or for other reasons like Police reasons or clubs in Europe) and its been like that for 30 years now since I started going to Rovers. Its part and parcel of football nowadays.

I can justify it to myself a bit more when the TV deal is worth £150m or whatever it is these days.
For moving a game to Sky in the Chammo we get about £75k apparently! Covers about 5 players wages that week.

Having said that the bigger issue for me is what Matty was saying with the EFL scheduling these types of matches. Sunderland and Cardiff as the festive fixtures, it’s a joke. We have a pool of Burnley, Wigan, PNE, Blackpool in Lancashire, with Huddersfield not much further. The 6 of us should be playing each other in those fixtures.

Unbelievably the Prem has pretty much got that as correct as it could this year (London games, South coast games, then North/Midlands games) across Boxing Day and New Year - although I hate that there are matches on 27th and 28th.

The TV companies at the end of the day are interested in viewers rather than league positions. They are more likely to choose teams towards the top because that might bring in more neutrals but any game involving the likes of Sunderland, Sheffield United, West Brom are going to bring in more simply because they have more fans.

I understand that but the fact remains that Sky are picking almost every game of ours for TV coverage.

Nobody said that teams at the top of the league shouldn't be shown. Just not every single bloody game to the point whereby there isn't a 3 o clock kick off for a couple of months.
