He is a great talent but that would be a big ask.

Replacing Modric is near impossible but I think he’s already better than Camavinga at Real Madrid and any player City or Arsenal have in that specific position.

He’s a perfect player in midfield to dictate the game & be a perfect foil for the likes of Bellingham, Rodri and Rice to have more freedom to get forward.

Top top player and hopefully he’ll move again soon to keep the lights on for us for another 6 months with the sell on fee!

Liverpool target Wharton

New

Exclusive

By Alan Nixon

Liverpool are ready to try to tempt Adam Wharton to quit Crystal Palace in a £50 million plus swoop.

The Kop transfer team are focusing on the outstanding midfield talent whose passing could make Arne Slot’s team tick.

Wharton has established himself as a Premier League player of real promise since his move from Blackburn Rovers.

And Wharton’s ability to see the picture and deliver quick balls to attackers has marked him out as a future elite star.

Liverpool are keen to land him and Wharton could be interested in a return to his native north west.

However the snag will be whether Wharton gets enough game time to keep him on an upward path.

Wharton has been frustrated by injuries this season and that has restricted his appearances in a campaign that should have seen him take off for club and country.

If Liverpool can sell a plan to him, especially with Champions League football available, then Wharton may take the chance.

Palace are already facing a siege for their players this summer and will demand a huge fee for the Dougie Freedman discovery.

Blackburn are due 15 per cent of the profit over the £18 million Palace paid for their home grown hero in January 2024.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also admirers of Wharton but he has not played often enough this season to make those interests concrete.

“The Dougie Freedman discovery”?

Fuck off Nixon.

Freedman has done a good job in terms of recruitment at Palace. Surprised Man Utd or Newcastle haven't targeted him or even good foriegn club in Italy or Spain

Palace have probably taken over from Brighton and Brentford in the “spotting up and coming talent “ league.

It’s his ability to spot an opening coming and deliver the perfectly weighted  pass into it that sets him apart from any other player in the Prem at the moment. He sees opportunities before the defenders have realised the opening is coming. Then he plays that instant killer ball. It must be great playing in front of him because you know you’re going to get the ball exactly where you want it and when you want it. That was obvious in his time at Rovers to anyone with eyes that aren’t painted on. Modric is/was a World class player but if anyone can come close to filling his boots it’s Wharton.

I wouldn't agree at all with that.

People didn't rate Ayari here now less than 12 months on he is starting games at Brighton

Manchester City would be the perfect move for Wharton. Guardiola’s precision pass and move game is made for him, though he would have to work a lot harder than he does at present. Pep is a fan and City will be busy in the transfer market this summer so it could happen sooner rather than later

It doesn't matter which team he plays for, I still consider him "one of us".

Very few Rovers players I have that fondness and respect for once they've left.

I've said before an England midfield of Wharton Bellingham and rice would be the most complete midfield in international football.  There's a case for rodri pedri and olmo but in terms of having everything u want in a midfield, that midfield would be perfect

Newcastle bound.

No, no, no ,no, no, no. Don't do it Adam! literally anywhere but there (or The Dingles, obvs)

As much as it pains me to say it, their midfield 3 of Tonali, Bruno and Joelinton is pretty damned strong, he wouldn't be playing every week in that squad, although they are likely to have Champions league duties to contend with also.

Just don't go there Adam, please, I beg 🙏

I watched the Copa del Rey final on Saturday; brilliant game.

What a bunch of whinging, spoilt children the Madrid players are when it doesn't go their way, Bellingham included.

The point Richards makes about always looking for a positive ball rather than going sideways is so true. So proud of this guy, just wish we could have enjoyed him a while longer

The plan was always to sell him in that summer

But instead we sold him to the first bidder that came along when other potential bidders were not in the market due to ffp.

Archie gray went that summer for north of £40million. And he's not the player wharton is.

I don't understand how people argue that we got a good price for him. A once in a generation player for our academy.
