NeilInBristol Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Great to see glad for the lad 🦾 I know he doesn’t play for us anymore and I know some aren’t happy about that but I will always consider him one of our own thinking about it, when was the last time one of our own youth players made it to start for England? In a competitive game too! can’t have been for a long while? Edited 9 hours ago by NeilInBristol Type 3 Quote

islander200 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Nixon saying on his bluesky account that Wharton has to make 5 competitive appearances for England before we are due anything from Palace Quote

Looked unsure positionally and no moments on the ball in open play (albeit, looked like Bellingham was determined not to be outshone by him). But that's just the highlights and understandable given the moment. I hope he gets more chances, maybe, with a defensive player alongside him. Edited 7 hours ago by riverholmes Quote

One would hazard a guess that he was under instructions to reveal that info, as it means that there is no possibility of reaching 5 competitive caps before the transfer window, so it gives them another excuse as to why there is next to no transfer budget come January 3 Quote

Why would we play him next to a defensive player? whoever the 6 player is whether Anderson or Wharton will play next to Rice surely? So who is this defensive player then? Quote
47er Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago No point fantasising about additional transfer money coming in from Wharton's future England appearances. Haven't we learned anything about Venkys yet? Quote

Kent Exile wasn't far wrong when he/she joked it would be dependent upon Adam scoring the winning goal in a penalty shoot out in a semi final in the Southern Hemisphere etc etc....... Uddersfelt Blue Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Anderson may be a better player but its a squad game and we need decent back up should injuries disrupt. 1 Quote

I also think your inability to question things is summed up by how you are interpreting these stats. Because Anderson is top of a list of random stats, you stated that hes the best midfielder in the Premier League the other day. Now you are passing on these stats today as if they prove your point or that he was more effective. They are different types of players and they featured in different ways and at totally different stages of the game. Anderson was on for much less time but the game was totally different, Albania had conceded, they were knackered and England were totally dominant. He won all of his "ground duels" (very vague phrase) which was 1 of 1, for example. The stats quoted are seemingly from fotmob but they have also been cherry picked. Wharton has a higher rating, and created the most chances out of everyone in the game apparently. Point being, dont just take randomly selected and inherently flawed stats as proof of certain conclusions. 1 hour ago, roverandout said: Hate to say it but Anderson is a better player right now Are you basing this purely on a few England games against poor opposition? 1 Quote
