Totally agree - why not give tickets for a fiver to all season ticket holders, plus anyone buying a ticket for the Sunderland match ?

This type of thing just slowly erodes the fan base - and atmosphere.

A few grand saved is nothing compared to the long term implications.

You'd have to go down there and prize open a few heads to spray in some WD40 to get the rusted cogs going before they'd ever come up with anything like that.

To them it's just sod it we'll charge a tenner, get 5k in and celebrate saving a few grand from having the BBE closed regardless of losing a good few off the gate.

As a consequence of closing the Blackburn end for the Cardiff match it will take even longer to be served on the concourse. If the club gets a percentage of the takings then it is a self defeating policy as unless you are prepared to queue and miss parts of the game you won't bother whereas with the Blackburn end open for the game you will still get your refreshments. However if the club gets a bog standard price for the catering rights swag is not bothered what the sales are.

No area for smokers at half time. The bogs will be crowded.

DON'T GO.

On the contrary every Rovers fan should go to Ewood and try to force their way into the BBE. If there are enough the crowd will spill over onto the main roads and stop the traffic. I wish.

SOMETHING has got to be done about Swag and these stupid owners.

For the first time in years we have a manager / coach who is taking the cup competitions seriously yet here we have a CEO who clearly does not. Has it not occurred to the £300,000 a year CEO that a decent cup run brings money into the club and excitement for the fans and a spillover of higher attendances at league games?

Steve Waggott the "inspiring leader".

And if someone should die because an ambulance could not get through, how would that be spun ?

I've only just seen this and I am absolutely flabbergasted.

Having one stand open will reduce the crowd considerably, hammer the atmosphere and make us look absolutely tinpot. Cardiff will be shooting towards their fans second half, we will be shooting towards a void of blue seats.

It's absolutely stupid and I hope those in a position to communicate it do so robustly.

It's all very deliberately done to erode the fan base. Fewer people around who can jump up and down about the sorry state of things.

With the way things are looking we'll be dropping into league one in a couple of years. All in a very managed and deliberate manner.

The Blackburn End was open for the Walsall game---1st Round and lower-grade opposition.

It doesn't make sense.

So in recent years we've seen Blackburn End Upper - closed, Darwen End for Rovers fans - closed. Radio Rovers - closed, RoverVision - closed, town centre shop - closed, matchday programme - closed, Brockhall - almost flattened, and now the cherry on the cake, the entire Blackburn End - closed.

'We will absolutely respect the Jack Walker legacy'.

But, but, but, but, how would we survive without the generous Venkys?

Waggott demonstrating his imagination and ambitions for the club there.

New stand? Will look into it

Sensible proposals to try and increase catchment area and numbers turning up? Will look into it

Refurbishment of Ewood / pitch? Will look into it

Any degree of ambition, forward planning, growth, improvement met with vague future considerations and possibles, 'Will look into it'

Meanwhile he is very effective at doing things the other way - cutting, shutting, downscaling, reducing. He has no problem at all with finding ways to do that. Those schemes don't need 'looking into' they just happen.

Making us one of the few clubs around not to bother with a programme. One of the few clubs around to have zero presence outside of our stadium e.g. in the town centre or across our catchment area. One of the few clubs to not bother arranging supporters coaches. One of the only clubs to stick bin liners over seats to make lettering rather than pay for some new white seats.

Absolutely tinpot. Cheers Venkys and Waggott. What isn't tinpot is his salary.

The first thought that occurred to me was, is this a sign of how close to the financial precipice we are? Let’s hope it’s just all about Waggott being Waggott.

It would have made far more sense to just close the Darwen end and relocate 200 visiting fans.

No way does 1500/2000 punters even at reduced rates not at least cover the cost of half a stand opening.

You are assuming 1500/2000 fans won’t go as a result, but clearly someone else is assuming they will.

Given Cardiff fans’ reputation, putting them in  a same stand as Rovers fans would’ve been madness.

I'm clearly pointing out there are enough fans going in there in a game like this to comfortably cover the costs, why alienate anyone from attending.

Your second point is plain daft there'll be no more than 150/200 tops  on a Weds night it's hardly a fixture the nutters would target. They could very comfortably be put in the  far end of JW lower and use that for away fans instead there's more than enough room for segregation.

I've shared stands with them at various times, including a 1-1 draw at Ewood in 2014. Not a hint of trouble at any of the games, and that reputation is very much a thing of the past - mainly since they left Ninian Park.

Nothing about Cardiff to suggest they couldn't be segregated the same way we always have done.

That being said, I'm not advocating an even more embarrassing closure of a 3rd stand!

You’d have thought last year’s cup run would have given him a clue…

What about those people who have paid for membership and access to the Blues Bar at half time in games?

Will provisions be made for them to travel from the JW stand to Blues Bar and back again?

Or is this another occasion where the club take people's money and then don't provide what was promised?

swag is the worst ceo in the history of the game, that head of marketing fraser read can **** off as well,he`s stealing a living, just exactly what does he market??,you could get a decent crowd against cardiff if you actually do some work and try to attract people to come to the ground, this club badly needs a revamp and restart, once jdt leaves i think it will implode, there is no way we`ll get a manager as good again,we were extremely lucky to land him imo
