Really interesting insights from Andy and Kevin here about the impact losing Travis would have on and off the pitch, also touching on the wider issue of us not getting new deals done for experienced players. They sound worried about the season. Justifiably so.

Baynes is a miserable bastard at the best of times.

The replacements for outgoing players will be loans from PL U21 squads, cobbled together in the final days of the window. We all know from experience, those players have absolutely no impact other than filling a place on the squad list.

More than likely.

To be fair, Iโ€™m feeling pretty miserable looking at our current squad and how things might get worse. Relegation season incoming I think.

Very good interview.ย
ย

Itโ€™s quite obvious that they are both of the same views at the moment. They believe rovers transfer dealings, both in and out, for a few seasons now have been poor and is a major reason for concern. โ€œA couple of the new boys didnโ€™t turn upโ€.
Basically they believe the club is heading into dangerous waters. I 100% go along with them.

Alebiosu did well and scratching my head as why others thought he was poor. Looked threatening going forward and looked solid enough at the back.ย

People have to remember he's got zero support going forward with Ryan fuckin Hedges.ย
ย

We look fine at RB with Miller and Alebiosu...It's the right wing ย we need to be worried about.ย

100% agree. Alebiosu was doing all the work on the right practically on his own with the non-existent Hedges ahead of him.

I was really concerned about him before yesterday but he pleasantly surprised me....maybe my expectations have dropped through the floor in recent seasons but he seemed ok to me.

Aye, much how I saw it, I was shouting to give it him every time we had the ball. Someone yesterday suggested playing him in front of Miller, seems like a plan to me.ย

Alebiosu was quite alright, especially considering it was his debut, but against a very average WBA side just OK is a downgrade on what we would have had. I think Brittain would have really troubled that WBA team yesterday.ย

Unless there is some sort of miracle before the transfer window closes, I think our best bet is to play Gueye, Kargbo and Miller every game. Smash long balls up to Gueye, get Miller on every throw in, tell Kargbo to run at people. This was where we looked most effective yesterday and pre season - particularly against competent opposition. I donโ€™t think we are scoring many goals otherwise.

It won't be pretty but points on the board is what matters!

As always, the legend of a player grows as soon as he leaves.

Brittain is a good Championship RB, but he's not a worldie and he's not a game changer.

Alebiosu rolled a ball across their 6 yard box and absolutely nobody attacked it. Brittain would have been similarly frustrated yesterday.

Miyoshi on the bench for Bochum today. Not sure if it affects his GBE status unless he comes on ?

Rumour has it we've been after him for months and he's keen to come - as the season has now started I'd be amazed if that transfer gets done.

'A very poor clearance from one of the new boys Alebiosu'

Well Kevin, it's pretty hard to do a good clearance when you're being wrestled to the ground.

I agree with the sentiment, but we did exactly that for 30 mins yesterday and created absolutely nothing and had no shots on target.

I think we looked more threatening at the end of the first half with Hedges coming inside to make room for Alebiosu to overlap. That also didn't look remotely threatening either, but slightly more so.

We should have swapped Hedges and Kargbo over once Alebiosu went off. Miller offered no threat aside from the long throws.

Agreed especially henriksson, I know his season is under way and has fitness under his belt but this is a different league should have came off the bench. Ohashi should have been the 10 with Gueye up top

If weโ€™ve learnt one thing from yesterdayโ€™s game it is the Gueye and Ohashi arenโ€™t on the same wavelength. I could see that when we tried it the last time against Millwall last season. Ohashi is a penalty box player, pure and simple.

Whilst the pending exit of Travis is another of the growing and continued long list of Fcuk ups from the boardย

citing relegation after one game is crazy particularly away from him against a team notoriously known for being decent at homeย

it doesnโ€™t excuse the performance and doesnโ€™t shy away from the obvious failings of the team but come on we need to see what happens come first international break to get a clear pictureย

look at Norwich at home yesterday spent well beat at home sheff u hammered at home watford deemed to have done good business then obviously Derby too

one game (whilst underwhelming) canโ€™t be the barometerย

Alebiosu was OK in a knock-it-and-run down the wing and cross or win aย corner kind of way.

Still should have done better for the goal regardless of the attention of the opposition player.

He doesn't worry me as much as De Neve and Hendriksson did ,as we have another potentially good option there with Miller.

Axel had one training session before being thrown into the starting line up. Iโ€™m not reading too much into his debut. Iโ€™m one of the few who thought Alibeouso (sp?) did ok. Beat his man and delivered a couple of decent crosses. One early in the first half went right across the box with nobody there to take advantage of it.ย

Travis is going to go and I think thatโ€™s pretty obvious now. He will be a big loss in the centre of the park. Not sure heโ€™s going to be easy to replace. I do wonder if Axel may be his replacement in there.ย

I agree on Alebiosu who looked ok on debut but he got forward and try to do what Brittain did for us. Replacing Brittain was always going to tough task given his qualities and how he played the right back role.ย ย

I agree. Regarding Miller - he didnโ€™t do much wrong but I couldnโ€™t escape the feeling that he is a centre half playing fullback. The same feeling I get when Carter plays right back.

I think attacking wise Brittain was a game changer at times and could have been yesterday.ย

Obviously nobody is saying he's a world class player. Silly comment.

One game?

Well, in our family, we all "knew" after Coyle's first game against Norwich. The suicidal transfer window was a key issue then, as well..
