Even if Axel isn't a "Wide Forward, #7, or Winger" he certainly is an improvement on Hedges. Hendrickson probably touched the ball more last night then Hedges will in August.

Did you watch the game last night? Axel was absolutely awful- makes Hedges look like Messi.

That's an insult to Kuqi. He would mop up in the Championship at the moment.Β

Bellamy & Dickov were the stars of his team. The flying Finn scored 7 in 42 appearances. Couldn't trap a bag of cement. Are we talking about the same guy? Even Gueye will get that.

No way. Henriksson was a little rusty, sure. But there’s a player in there, he found more space in between the lines, threaded passes in behind, and looked more dangerous in 50 minutes than Hedges has looked in his entire time at Rovers.

Same people writing off Henriksson are the same people who wrote off Szmodics when he first came.Β

Harsh, he's played two games and looked suspect in both. I'm not saying he can't improve- I bloody hope he does!Β  He's a young lad in a new country and is clearly a bit nervous..Β  However, to suggest he's done more than Hedges in these two appearances is ludicrous..Β  Hedges, whilst he most certainly has his limitations has also had some cracking games for us. Once/if Axel actually starts playing well I'll gladly shift my opinion..Β

Lets hope we are closing in on a right wing/sided attacking player given whatΒ Mafoumbi's account has done. I hope its someone who can have instant impact and play some part on Saturday game against Birmingham. Miyoshi was be very good but if its him then we should have got that transfer done weeks ago.Β

A right winger signing should have been one of the biggest priority of us.Β

On the Travis Situation, I'm not shocked that Eustace and Derby wanted him. Eustace and Travis were always close. No the contract situation should have been sorted before now which has lead us selling Brittain and Possible selling Travis if our asking price is met plus the fact he wants to leave isn't great. I always thought Travis might leave this summer with Brittain and Tronstad being the once to sign new contracts. Ismael confirmed Rovers have put good contracts offers to them. I don't expect Travis to be here come September which is disappointed but if he wants out then lets get the best deal and sign a replacement. I would be looking at Reading centre midfielder Charlie Savage from Reading. Preston centre midfielder Ali McCann or Watford centre midfielder TomΒ Dele-Bashiru. Who replacing Travis as Captain, I see 3 candidates, Sonny Tronstad, Scott Wharton and Todd Cantwell

Before the window we deffo need another forward who can play up front but also wide. It appears that Leonard won't be part of Ismael's plans this season. Maybe another signing if Buckley leaves which I hope he does for himself and his playing career and a replacement for Pears if he does leave

We shouldnt be loaning a replacement for Travis. Nor obviously should we sign someone injured.

Use a couple of loans to add additional attacking power on top of buying a right winger and any direct replacements for outgoings.

We Shouldn't correct.

But we know the Travis fee isn't getting spent so it will be a choice of a loan or a cheap foreign punt

No way Cantwell is captain material, and Wharton isn't a guaranteed starter off injury and up against McLoughlan.

Tronstad or Hyam are the options, neither of whom are particularly inspiring or vocal leaders.

Squad's been absolutely decimated hasn't it?Β

His through balls were promising. But he was nowhere for their first goal - I think he even looked towards the free man, but stayed still. Hedges at least has defensive discipline and work rate. Would it have stopped that first goal? Who knows, but Axel was asleep for it.Β

Same guy put in one of the best crosses I ever saw. Right on MGP’s foot from 40 yards away against Fulham.

That was when we were in the Prem, completely different kettle of fish. And it was 7 in 33 actually. When Kuqi had been in the Championship the season before with Ipswich, he bagged 19 in 43.

Gueye: Hedges, Tronstad, Dolan

Shefki: Bellamy, Tugay, Pedersen

Of course, there are always many factors and context. And stats are never the whole story. But I don't think there is much difference between the 2, but for me Shefki is better.

It’s only my grandson that keeps me interested. I now think the Chicken Chokers will outlast me unfortunately but I’m pretty sure they won’t outlast him as he’s only 18. I desperately want to keep the love of Blackburn Rovers in my family. His dad only maintains a watching brief via the TV nowadays. I am away on holiday. This was our text conversation after last nights game -

Grandson Β - β€œ That’ll teach me for going to midweek cup games β€œ.

Me - Β β€œ Yeah, anybody play well ? β€œ

Grandson - β€œ Tavares my MOM, Β Cantwell didn’t have a good game but you can still tell he’s a step above the rest β€œ β€œ Let’s hope Toth doesn’t get injured cos that Michalski is awful β€œ. β€œ Travis off to Derby as well β€œ.

Me - β€œ Mm, Birmingham up next. β€œ

Grandson - β€œ Ticket already bought β€œ.

Me - β€œ Good on you Luke, it won’t always be like this ! β€œ

He’s a great kid, off to Uni this year and one of the reasons for the Uni he chose was so he could get over to watch Rovers.

Β

I'm in the unfortunate position whereby my daughter has split with her hardcore Rovers supporting partner and the almost 16 year old twins support Manure now.

When I go, that's my lifetime support meaningless 😒

I only used Shefki as a yardstick to say that Gueye wasn't going to score many for us. Both big strapping lads but not the best footballers, they both have larger than life personalities so easy to warm to them but if you need goals - well neither would be my first port of call.

We defo need a striker or we're dead in the water, that's my point. If you have warm memories of Sheki then great but apart from his goal celebrations I have little else to get misty eyed over.

Apart of the fact we were in the Prem then obs!

So that the right thing to do then? Writing players off after their 2nd game, having literally just walked through the door? Β Gotcha.Β

You were pointing out some peoples initial opinions could be wrong. I’m just pointing out sometimes those opinions are proven correct.

Also, who wrote him off? The comment was on his game last night, and if that poster thought he looked awful then what is he meant to do. Lie and say he was ok?
