JCRovers Posted August 12 Posted August 12 (edited) Could get really ugly come the end of this transfer window. VI is more or less accepting defeat on a number of players with one year remaining on their contract. Travis and Hyam could both be out, maybe that's why Miller played centre back today? Only one who looks like staying until the end of season is Tronstad. Pears and Buckley are no longer wanted, Dolan, Batth and Weimann already left on a free and Brittain got sold so we're basically clearing out the entirety of last season's squad. Recruitment team might be panicking a bit as well now that all the ESC slots are taken. We're gonna have to sign a whole lot more than just a winger and a striker I'm afraid. ย Edited August 12 by JCRovers 2 Quote

Ricky Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Weโve done well with the loan market before but I canโt see the current lot paying the loan fees to get the better players. Itโs probably our only option now to get out of the mess we are in and actually get some attacking threat on the pitch. Absolutely toothless again today. Just didnโt offer enough going forward again.ย Happy with Tavares, thought that was a promising start and he looks like he could be a decent signing for us. Early days but the new signings donโt look too bad. Not convinced with De Neve but heโs popped up with a well taken goal. The new signings were better than the over promoted youth team players who look nowhere near the level they need to be at. Iโd argue playing them will damage their future more than letting them play more under 21 games. They are not ready and shouldnโt be pushed into starting competitive games.ย Quote

Colt Seavers Posted August 12 Posted August 12 In the interests of retaining at least a bit of stability at the club I would look to now keep Buckley and let him battle it out with Tavares who I thought looked extremely promising tonight. No need to replace Travis, our immediate pressing need is for a goal scorer and that's where any money must go. Quote
Popular Post bluebruce Posted August 12 Popular Post Posted August 12 I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I find it highly depressing that our homegrown club captain has asked us to leave in order to join Derby fucking County. After our manager and two other players we've allegedly wanted to keep have also chosen to go there (possibly Brittain would have too if Boro weren't in). No disrespect to Derby, they're a solid old club, but this really shouldn't be the state of affairs here. Venkys have utterly ruined us. It's a miracle we're still a Championship side for now, let alone that we were in a position to barely miss the playoffs last season. But the fact all these players and the manager wanted off to Derby despite our utterly different league placings last season shows all is rotten behind the scenes. We're a sinking ship and the rats want out. 23 Quote

I'm absolutely done with him. He has had far too many chances and doesn't even have the right attitude. 7 Quote

Obviously the RAT rats are steering the fucking ship, through a sequence of icebergs, whilst telling us they have a plan, just not telling us that the plan is to remove all the rivets and silverware and sell them off to buy themselves a luxury yacht. pick32 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Can see us going in for Isaac Hayden when Travis goes, previous interest big tall athletic, decent experience and is free Quote
Paul Mani Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Midfield: Not as worried about losing Trav since watching Tavares. Hes a good player, much higher ceiling. Now shitting myself about cover because Forshaw cannot be first sub and Montgomery isnโt readyย - Baradji for Trav. RW: Needs bringing in asap. Replacements for Buckley, Pears, Hyam? and I reckon Cantwell also need to be sourced, if and / or when they leave. Iโd also do a couple of forward / creative loans too because we look light on goals. So, thatโs potentially between 2-8 players in and 1-5 out. In the next 20 days. What could go wrong? ๐๐คฌ๐คฃ ย 1 Quote

Why would he be wearing his Rovers training kit, from last season if I'm not mistaken? The latest is that we rejected a fairly derisory bid. And yes that he wants out, but unless a much bigger bid has been made I can't imagine he's on his way down there just yet. They played these games with Brittain too and somebody came in with a better bid and they lost out. Hope it happens again, it would really rankle to see him go there right now. yankfan Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) Donโt get me wrong here, as the asset sales of our core squad highlights the dysfunctional status of our club. But weโve been poor in the attack for a while and I think part of that is down to the fact that Trav and Trondstad are both deep lying defensive minded players. Neither one provide much going forward and replacing one with a more box to box player that can help in the attack. Should they be sold, of course not the should be in competition with one another.ย Edited August 13 by yankfan 2 Quote

VI has openly said he doesn't favour loans, in fact he was describing them as 'pointless' at the kit launch as they just obstruct development of our own youth players. To an extent I do agree with him, but you at least need some decent options in your youth team to bring through. Now whilst Adam Wharton has set the bar high, I'm not seeing anyone looking remotely close to being first team ready coming through! Ideally you want to be bringing youth players through when we'reย stable and doing reasonably well on the pitch, not for our relegation battle that's looming. Hopefully he has a rethink and recognises we need some decent loan players in ASAP if permanent are beyond us! 2 Quote

If we are eventually reduced to seeing what's left on the loan market at the last minute (as usual) I think we'll be sadly disappointed. For every Elliott/Van Hecke/Beck there's a lot more Barry Douglas's/Clarkson's/Poveda's/Cozier Duberry's/Woodrow's/ Dennis's who are either completely shite and/or a complete waste of money. It's the only thing I agree with VI on. 2 Quote

Thought Axel looked better tonight, than Saturday, I think he'll be a decent signing. Cantwell looked decent off the bench. Buckley back in the cold felt odd. Take away the goal, de neve did nothing. Seemed reluctant to try and impress himself on the game. Axel is worryingly keen to make a late tackle but also not to track runners. We can't afford to carry a player who won't do defensive duties. On the plus side he played some decent through balls, but then stopped.ย 3 Quote

B16Rover Posted August 13 Posted August 13 A secondary frustration to Trav going Derby is how close some fans are to making the mental leap away from 'Eustace is a snake who wants our players' to 'Maybe there's something wrong with us if our ex manager and starting 11 all want to leave to a second rate team' 1 1 Quote
