Evening all, I’ve not posted in awhile, but I’ve just sent a message to Rudy on LinkedIn and he responded. Little bit shocked that I got a response I’ve just replied.

Fuck sake, he signs his messages and mails off using “best” - just when I thought he couldn’t become any more of a danger

Those who wanted Gregg out should be ashamed...look.where we are now

With Gregg and JDT and an normal CEO we would had been in the Premier League by now.

Revisionist history in the extreme. At the very least, at least Rudy can send a fax on time on deadline day

Wonder if Pears still touches the ball the most in that alternative timeline.

It was incompetence of the recruitment team twice? TWICE? Are you sure you believe that?

Yes I do it’s not uncommon for deals to fall through due to this

it should never be the case  that’s why I class it a failure but happens every window even last night

Charlton couldn’t get the paperwork done on time for fofana - it’s just awful admin work/timing from the recruitment teams

I’m yet to see anyone sound, sign an email off with ‘best’.
Always the arrogant goons in my experience.

Rudy Gestede proving my point nicely.

Damn you beat me to it 😄

Leonard looked very good (think he got the assist too) we will regret letting him go for a million quid. Peterbrough will get £5M + just hope the man stays fit

I hope they do - I hope the lad thrives.

Eh ?   Since when was his departure, JDT's meltdown and the collapse almost to relegation anything to do with a few fans on here wanting him out ?

You seem to have omitted 'If Gregg was actually allowed to direct as Rudy is and him and JDT didn't have their backing pulled we might have made the Prem'.

Interesting post on LinkedIn from Gregg Broughton. I imagine he is looking at this situation with a great degree of vindication. In hindsight, he did a good job not just on transfers but also contract renewals.

The key difference to Gestede, he didn't seem to be an arrogant, ego driven piece of work (note his praise for others). Rather someone who genuinely had good intentions and wanted the best for the club. Likely why he was shown the door.

Sad.

He also was responsible for both O’Brian Brierley, and  McGuire debacles. He took responsibility for them, though not sure they were directly his doing. What’s clear though is he walked into a club with a functioning recruitment department as those three signings were already targets upon his arrival. There were big steps taken to expand our scouting network but few of the international signings under him were successful. Siggy, Telalovic the biggest disappointments.

GB suffered from the same challenges as others, budget restraints, disconnected owners, and a fan base that has been ignored. While probably not completely his fault, he’s the one that saw the sale of Wharton and Phillips for well below market values.

Up yesterday I was happy with the signings.

Not having a quality CB ready and waiting is nothing short of a disgrace.

Best we can hope for is a temporary CB.

Of course it happens...but it does not happen twice in 2 years!!! I'm sorry but if you believe that then you've not been reading/listening to what's been going on these past 2/3 years.

For about 18 months there we looked and operated like a normal club. We had an ambitious coach and a dof who had experience putting sides together. I do think had it lasted we would have been promoted but after the first season it was clear JDT and GB were being lied to and the project they signed up for became something entirely different. Promotion aspirations quickly changed to stay up and blood in the youth.

I have I been well tuned in and voiced my concerns.
iv been a big advocate for people coming to the fore so everything I’m basing my judgment on is Gregg the egg and his interviews re what happened

what is your tangible evidence of foul play other than assumption?

Is anyone aware of whether we are considering any freebie centre backs? Craig Dawson would be a good shout and scores a few goals. Surely if we had any sense this would be something we are looking into because we currently have only Scott Wharton who has just missed more than a whole season through injury as our only recognised CB available for the Watford match and thats just ridiculous.

Well, I bet they weren't. However, the angry response from what is left of the fanbase may cause them to consider something like this...

We won’t sign one, they will want good wages and they will have had good offers. Remember we need “young and hungry” and to “create assets”

Dawson would be pick of the bunch but could he serious be arsed dropping from over 40k a week to 10k for this crackpot regime? Only thing potentially in our favour is him being a northern chap, although not sure he still lives in the area.

Unless Umtiti fancies it 😒

Think we may recall our centre half who are doing well at Doncaster in league one instead.

Someone mentioned Liam Cooper last night, don't know what he's up to, he was watching Leeds last week.
