i find it a strange appointment,is he any improvement on carrick??? don`t think so myself,he`ll be under big pressure if boro don`t start well,especially after spending big last season

Best time to play the likes of Soton, Ipswich and Leicester away is either at the very start or very end of the season IMO. More chance of catching them off guard either before they've got settled down or after there's nothing left to play for.

I'd rather play one of them first game than a Charlton, Birmingham or Wrexham bouncing from promotion.

I wouldn't mind playing Southampton on the opening day. Got a new head coach there and probably best time to catch them off guard.

Think Rob Edwards appointment there is a surprising move by Middlesbrough. Has promotion on his CV but he has the time to shape his own team and style there. Need a quality striker or 2 in there. But he couldn't turn Luton championship form around last summer. 

I thought they would have go for Danny Rohl or Dave Challinor

I am not bothered who we play first game , as long as the Rovers fans sing 'we want Venkys Out'. 

Forget the wild Rover this should be the  go to chant/song at the beginning and end of every single game! 

Regardless of result!

Yeah, newly promoted teams are a no/no first up. They’re still full of confidence, all their squad to pick from and an enthusiastic following cheering them on.  Best time to play them is after a few months when they’ve had a few bangings, lost a few players to injury and suspension and their fans are getting restless.
