Boro have appointed Rob Edwards as Head Coach for the new season. Seems to be a fairly mixed reaction from the Boro fans that I've seen on Social media.

Surprised by this appointment - Gibson going to be treading water again.

Really surprised by this one - no real track record and bombed in his last two jobs.

Twitter rumour that we are away at Southampton on the opening day. Would be a horrendous opener.

Better on a Saturday in August than a Tuesday in January tbf, not that I believe it's a legit rumour like.

Best time to play the likes of Soton, Ipswich and Leicester away is either at the very start or very end of the season IMO. More chance of catching them off guard either before they've got settled down or after there's nothing left to play for.

I'd rather play one of them first game than a Charlton, Birmingham or Wrexham bouncing from promotion.

Think Rob Edwards appointment there is a surprising move by Middlesbrough. Has promotion on his CV but he has the time to shape his own team and style there. Need a quality striker or 2 in there. But he couldn't turn Luton championship form around last summer.

I thought they would have go for Danny Rohl or Dave Challinor

I am not bothered who we play first game , as long as the Rovers fans sing 'we want Venkys Out'.

Forget the wild Rover this should be the  go to chant/song at the beginning and end of every single game!

Regardless of result!

We Want Venkys Out!

Yeah, newly promoted teams are a no/no first up. They’re still full of confidence, all their squad to pick from and an enthusiastic following cheering them on.  Best time to play them is after a few months when they’ve had a few bangings, lost a few players to injury and suspension and their fans are getting restless.

First game of last season was against newly promoted Derby 😉.

It doesn't really matter who it is but from a personal preference it would be one of the longer distance away games.

From a Rovers perspective, I think another 'standard season' of mediocrity is the best we can hope for. Just stay away from the drop zone!

Let's be honest, short of a change in ownership (which isn't foreseeable), the absolute realistic ceiling for ambition is to scrape sixth and lose to a parachute payment, moneybags club in the PO semis.

Plenty of clubs, eg Cardiff and Hull, thought they had enough to stay up but didn't. That has to be the key concern.

I'm just too ground down and fed up by 15 years of this s**t to hope for any better! As much as we the fans deserve a competitive side after all these years and (finally) a trip to new Wembley, the owners DON'T.
