  1. What Evans to Stoke? City?.....No, Mandeville..( I am here for 3 more nights!)
  2. Quite. I guess there are a few new things for which to thank Venky's. e.g. I now hate Wigan and Luton-two no-mark clubs that would never have even crossed my mind.......before the deluge...
  3. I spoke to Don once at a friend's 21st back in 1975 He told me that when Ken Furphy was leaving for Sheffield, he turned round to Don and said, "I suppose you'll be cracking out the champagne now, Martin?" Don's reply- "I'll wait until you're out of the fcking door first!" When Don the Eskimo gets here, everybody gonna run to him...or summat
  4. What....like tipping off Sir Alex about the details of Phil Jones' release clause? Anyone might think Big Sam would hold a grudge lol
  5. Didn't know where else to post this. The points are well made about the reality of football culture!
  6. Snow can burn your eyes, but only Oldjam makes you cry
  7. I remember going in there one night in 1974 with my mate. Our game at Bolton had been postponed and in came most of the Rovers squad. They were quite happy to chat to us. I was surprised -even then-at how many of them smoked! I remember having a good natter with Terry Eccles and that John O'Mara took the piss ( in a nice way) out of my mate's hippie ( Vulcan /Queen's)clothes. Kit Napier and Barry Endean were great to talk to and even dropped me off at home at the end of the night.
  8. How nicely put lol..I don't even remember what I came here to get away from! And I knew I was WRONG, as soon as I read your post. Come to think of it, I think his last league game for Rovers was that relegation night match at Ewood, where there was a demonstration of loyalty to John Pickering. Of course, Kendall was at Rovers for the two following seasons.... before he joined Bailey at Goodison.
  9. Yes Arma should be included! This made me think. Most of the Rovers managers in my time have not only taken on players and staff they knew, but players they had previously managed. From the top of my head: Furphy-brought in Field and O'Mara, who he said he had always wanted to pair together. He brought Garbett and Endean who had been at Watford. Then he took Garbett, Field and Bradford to Sheffield Utd. Lee-took Sir Roger and Oates to Newcastle Smith-Svarc and Garner from Colchester Kendall took Arnold, Bailey, Keeley (one game!) and Heaton to Everton Saxton-Randall Mackay-Hendry from Dundee, Dobson and Livingstone from Coventry Souness brought in Brad, Bjornaby, Babbel
  10. You're dead right. He clearly feels under pressure..I was being facetious.
  11. Lol..What do you expect? Critical journalistic analysis?
  12. Henry Fonda, I presume. I agree with you that the neglect of the pitches and the Storm Christoph are separate things. I honestly don't know if the weather would have caused a postponement without the neglect etc. What is clear, though, is that the postponement has provided a channel for all the pent up frustration and anger from the last few months (if not the last 10 years!) I think this is a very serious moment because it shows that the whole club is losing credibility even with the hopelessly committed.
  13. Interesting.. I think that the very act of giving back word to Warnock and Jepson, in order to install Coyle actually typifies the Venky's dire model.
  14. Every team seems more fluid and fluent than our disjointed team of crabs and backpassers.....
  15. Unbelievably soft goal! How many times have we felt that soul destroying sensation , watching Rovers-even this season? No signs of resolution in God knows how long. Sick of the mind numbing predictability. The three of us in front of our TV uttered a collective-in unison-"Fck 0ff!"..........(again)
  16. "Venky's said" "Gove promised"...hahahahaha...
  17. But I know..I know...and I am under no illusions. Given all the unsatisfactory crap with the squad, this loan deal helps a little-if only in the short term
  18. Not quite nothing...It allows time for a) Ayala to recover, b) Lenihan's (inevitable)time out injured.....and c)time to review Warton's progress in the next window?
  19. We have been saying the same re Sherwood...but Paul Shepstone? Harsh with a long memory lol
