The fact that he has crossed the threshold of our club is enough.

Oh behave, it's not that bad. Yes he's a fat 33 year old who had a 'habit' and his best days are well and truly behind him but who knows ? There are a few on here who have already sacked Ince before we've even played a game FFS.

And my son in law (a bluenose) is # himself.

Till so far, I felt Ince did nothing wrong (But if he did sell Brad, then he did very wrong.) From the way he keep working on our backroom staff, it mean he is really going to put in effort to improve our current player. For fowler, if he really join, it won't be too bad if we get him cheap. If he pass down his experience to our young player like Matt. Then he it will be very good for us.

:rover: come on folks FOWLER has not signed, you must be short off something too do at work today :brfcsmilie:

Correct. We have offered the guy a trial. At 33 if he can prove he is good enough to mix it with Roque, Benni, Roberts & Derbyshire then he is obviously fit again. Its all about if he has the hunger to make it a success, if not then im sure he wont be offered a playing role at the club.

Give Ince time.

Still very early days in his tenure and cannot properly accurately judge much..... however, Ince is showing a few signs of being 'raw' as a manager. Few concerning things appear to be going on.

Should not compare because everyone is different, but whilst Hughes was raw at the start, I always thought his natural intelligence helped him.

Ince on Sky News.........

On the day Pompey sign Crouch ...Rovers take a look at has-been cripple Fowler whose last meaningful contribution in the Prem was er 10 years ago. Keegan gave him a last chance at City about 4 years ago and apart from being injured (again and again) he looked slow and useless. Has a new manager anywhere ever made a worse first impresssion?

I think Souness picking Darren Peacock- who had been out of the team for being rubbish- "because he'd heard of him" comes quite close.

Adrian Heath, ex-Everton player and Burnley manager, now lives in Austin to manage the USL-1 Austin Aztex (think the Championship, but without promotion/relegation). I had drinks with him after an Aztex match the other night, and his impression of Ince was not favorable.

He says the word he's heard is that Ince used his reputation to basically bully the lower level players into playing better. That won't work at the Prem level. In addition, he was disparaging of his intelligence and tactical acumen. Now, the guy is an ex-Burnley player/manager, so he might just be having a go at the team, but that wasn't the impression I got at all. He predicts a bottom 5 finish for us next year. I'm kinda scared, I have to say.

Adrian Heath doesn't rate him?

I'll take that as a good sign then.

Probably hacked off we didn't appoint Chimpey chops so he could have come as his assistant.

Quite a Friday on the BRFCS messageboard.

Around 1000 posts, with more than 900 slating a new Rovers manager who has yet to take charge of a game, or sign a single player, or sell a single player.

And why??

Because two stories - written by Alan Nixon - appeared in the Daily Mirror.

The Robbie Fowler story - confirmed by the club we all support - is hardly worthy of 1000 ranting posts. He might only be around for a couple of weeks. He won't cost any money if he does last longer. It's a non-issue until he's a registered player at Ewood playing in the 1st team. Move on.

The Brad Friedel story has led to all sorts of crazy reaction, and there isn't any justification for any of it.

Tribal Football is generally seen as the crappest source of rubbish internet gossip. They had 76 new stories about Premier League transfers today, (even this - "Cisse favours Blackburn over Panathinaikos".

But even Tribal haven't bothered with the "Martin O'Neill wants to bid for Friedel" story in their 76 gossips today. Nobody has - except Alan Nixon.

I think it's bizarre that people have posted 900 times to slag off the manager of Blackburn Rovers on the back of one piece of tabloid speculation. Has Ince been allowed any input today? Have Rovers? Has Friedel??

Nicko has often dissed other unlikely tabloid stories linked on this forum from fellow hacks as "plants" by clubs or agents to raise speculation about players and so prompt some movement.

For me, Nicko's Mirror speculation linking Aston Villa to Brad Friedel bears all the hallmarks of such a planted story. The only likely destination for Friedel if he leaves Ewood Park is the City of Manchester stadium. Nicko as a freelance based in the North West needs friends in high places ... and wouldn't it be good for him if his story about Brad+Villa ended up with Mark Hughes taking Friedel from Rovers to Man City???

Heaping the blame onto Paul Ince is totally unfair, his last public statement on the matter was not only that he'd be aiming to keep all his best players at Rovers, but that he'd be delighted to use Brad Friedel as a trusted source of information and support. Those are not the words of someone who is about to push one of the best keepers in the PL through the exit door by choice.

If Friedel leaves, it'll be because HE wants to - Nicko's trouble-making report opens the door - and if Mark Hughes wants the player the player will go to Mark Hughes.

In terms of this website, well it appears to have toppled from being a site for supporters of Blackburn Rovers Football Club to being a site for supporters of Alan Nixon, freelance reporter. Rovers the club seem to come a poor second for most contributors, because what Nicko says is untouchable gospel truth - whatever the club or manager or players might say or not say.

For me, I will pin my colours to the Rovers mast and will support the club, manager and players both on this (sadly deteriorating) website, and in the ground as I always have done. Whoever they are, and whatever people do to undermine them.

I think I'm suffering from deja vu. I'm sure I've read Tris's post somewhere before............. oh, wait................................

Things are never simple for a Rovers fan :rover: Be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I think Ince is going to be a disaster and I'm gutted with myself for putting him with Terim and Van Gaal as my choices to replace Hughes. I was unaware he had no coaching badges and assumed he would be doing better than employing Ray Mathias if he did come.

To think we interviewed Laudrup but didn't give him the job is mortifying. I think we are about to enter a humiliating period with Ince in charge.

Santa Cruz trained with Bayern for 8 years and then moved onto Hughes' young team of coaches. Now he's getting told how to play from Ray Mathias and Archie Knox.

Jesus Christ, it's scary...

I'd be happy for him to do one now...

The only thing that is scary is people like you. Dont get caught up in all the media speculation and doom and gloom.

Archie Knox is a highly respected coach in football and has worked under fergie twice so no harm in bringing him in. Mathias is his trusted assistant - like Bowen is for Hughes. Ince is also looking to bring in a specialist Defence coach, something that is needed, last year our defence made many errors. So applaud him for that.

Yes he doesnt have coaching badges, but neither does Alex Ferguson. Is he therefore no good for Rovers either?

And as for Laudrup, he came in at the last minute, when asked if he would be interested he said he wasnt sure. He wanted more money to spend and had several reservations/ requests that he wanted adding into his contract. Im glad we didnt touch him.

Ferguson got rid of Knox 17 years ago FFS. Mathias is an old codger who only knows the lower leagues. Bowen was Hughes' trusted assistant becasue he's one of the best young coaches in the games, as is Eddie Ned.

Are you happy Ince sees Robbie Fowler as a serious proposition for a team who finished 7th last year? Do you reckon Mathias and Knox are an improvement on Eddie Ned and Bowen? Are you happy with what Ince has been saying in his press conferences so far?

Hughsey is rignt. I think we're being a tad hasty here. I was very impressed by Paul's enthusiasm and I'm sure he hasn't lost it already. Whoever is in his team, he is the Manager and if any do not perform, be it backroom staff or player, I'm sure he will get it sorted. Give him a chance.
