1864roverite Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 The only thing that I can recall about Andrews was that he was KEAN, KEAN and KEANING KEAN (in otherwords he was kak).

Rover_Shaun Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Think his assistant has enough credentials to support him. Been at four teams that got promoted out of the championship. You are referring to Darren Moore, his rookie coach in his first major coaching role. "He had been a youth coach at Albion following a 20-year playing career" Moore was promoted four times as a player and not as part of a management team. Totally different, as Berg showed. Appletons assistant manager is 36 year old Ashley Westwood who also is rather green in the coaching world but came through the ranks with Appleton at Man Utd, so that's ok then. Phew at first I thought he was a nobody lol ;-)
Josh Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Whats happened to the signings ? What signings? if you mean the loan signings then the window isn't open until Friday
Stuart Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 What signings? if you mean the loan signings then the window isn't open until Friday Woah. Ever since the transfer deadline it's been Thursday. Who changed it?
Robbo Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Woah. Ever since the transfer deadline it's been Thursday. Who changed it? Me too. I'm pretty sure last week everyone was talking about thursday being the day. Anyway, Friday is here and we won't have to wait much longer to find out who's coming on board. Hopefully we get a few in.

Though I agree that I hope we get in a few decent additions - I must say us footie fans are very fickle. On one hand we want the owners to buy us new players, on the other hand we want them out - and on the other hand (where did the third hand come from) we worry about them sending us into administration. All on crowds of 13k !

All on crowds of 13k ! Agreed on some points there DMTP. We are extremely fickle. We often forget that we can kick and stamp all we want, they own the business and so decide what they do with it. However, last summer they were prepared to @#/? 35k+ on the likes of Murphy and Etuhu, so my hope is that Appleton can convince them to pay wages for a couple of players that could push us on nicely. Yes, we're the ones to blame! Sigh! Not the point 47er. This is not our fault, but by the same token unless you have a a spare 25million lying round there is nothing we can do about it. Hope that their intentions are as good as every manager keeps saying (including Appleton). Sadly i believe their will be heavily split intentions in the family, and the decision maker may well be thinking of dropping us like a stone

neophox Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Very quiet.... What about Pajtim Kasami from Fulham on loan?

But lets be nice to them in the meantime anyway! Bit defeatist, abject even?
LeChuck Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Very quiet.... What about Pajtim Kasami from Fulham on loan? We don't need attacking midfielders!
rovers11 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Williamson and DJ now confirmed. Have to wait a bit longer for Thomas.
Mike Graham Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 we are turning into a team of loanees and wannabee footballers
LeChuck Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Williamson is 30 years old and has played at League One or lower for the last 14 years. .... I'm entitled to be sceptical. Yeah...but it'd be nice if you didn't use twisted facts to form that opinion. He signed for Watford in 2007 when they were in the Premier League. After a few games in the top division, he played for Watford, Preston and Sheffield United in the Championship. He dropped down to League One with Sheffield United's relegation in 2010-2011. So the last six years (what does anything prior to that matter?) he's played the vast majority in the Championship, some in League One and a bit in the Premier League.
Backroom Tom Posted February 8, 2013 Author Backroom Posted February 8, 2013 The fact is Keith Andrews who was thought of as the worst player we had in years would probably be our most effective central midfielder this season Williamson may end up being just what we need Happy enough with DJ but would have preferred a winger
greggyk Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 He's a different type of player to Andrews...likes a tackle this one.. That IS what we need..Just have to hope he's good enough.. Good luck to him
thenodrog Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Its indeed very important to get Thomas in. I think DJ Campbell would be a useful addition to the squad. Only if Rhodes gets injured before he leaves. Palace couldn't afford his wages, I doubt he'll go on loan anywhere after the farce. From the press down here the JT deal isn't off, it just might not be straight away Nobody replaces the wages of Prem players these days. Was told by a Brighton fan at the match last month that of Wayne Bridges 70k pw 60k is still being paid by Man City with Brighton stumping up 10k. .....I would try to get Gabriel Obertan who I think is a really good player. Based on what exactly? Everytime I have seen him I just assume that Man Utd were suckered by a Grabbi type con.
G Somerset Rover Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 One of those that will go either way IMO. We still need a winger if we want to keep our very faint hopes of the playoffs alive.
thenodrog Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I guess the issue there is that Appleton obviously wants to add pace to the wings with King out for a while. As good as Bentley is (was?), he won't allow us to stretch teams using pace. No need for pace when the ball can do the running. I rem Franz Carr had frightening pace and could go past players for fun.... unfortunately he couldn't cross to save his life.
Roverthechimp Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 2 solid sensible signings for our current circumstances (3 if you include recalling Orr). How long is since we could say that? No need for pace when the ball can do the running. I rem Franz Carr had frightening pace and could go past players for fun.... unfortunately he couldn't cross to save his life. Oh wow - nostalgia trip. He was so unbelievably fast and tricky but managed to be completely useless at the same time...
yoda Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 No need for pace when the ball can do the running. I rem Franz Carr had frightening pace and could go past players for fun.... unfortunately he couldn't cross to save his life. did he not forget the ball sometimes when running, seem to remember having a laugh about it,
thenodrog Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Stuart console yourself with the fact that Lee Williamson could be the next Mark Atkins! It's a sign of how far we have fallen when I now think Keith Andrews could be an impovement to our midfield!
