If Henry is in to cover right back, it's a good deal. To be fair if Hanley or Duffy got injured we would have been down to bare bones at CB too, so a good signing either way.

Now just get another decent striker in and we're looking good until January at least.

grant hanley and shane duffy are only one booking off getting a ban so that why I think he got henry in for cover and he can play at right back

We have knocked back a loan to buy offer from Derby for Ollson. Think they are trying in on with us in an embargo, anything close to getting us out of it and i would accept. Clement has worked with him before.

Couldn't agree more. He is a good player but not crucial to us, I'm sure we can get in a loan signing who is a suitable replacement. If there is something in the three centre halves idea, it means we wouldn't have to play Spurr either!!!

Thinking about it he is out of contract in the summer so we wont be getting anything close to the embargo amount for him.

He will probably go on a free in the summer and take the hike in wages with going on a bosman i would guess.

Ah yes of course. I have no idea how far the negotiations are with that. I think Derby are playing games with this in mind as well. If I'm honest, I wouldn't have thought we'd get great money for him either way.

I reckon we might see three at the back soon.

I was speculating about this the other day when we were trying to work out a way of playing two up front with a view to giving Rhodes some help.

I had Hanley- Duffy - Kilgallon at the back.

This was before Henry signed.

I had , Marshall - Evans- Lawrence- Akpan- Conway in midfield.

No place for Ollsen I'm afraid !

Rhodes and Koita up front.

Maybe Lambert is thinking the same way.

Lambert was only saying yesterday that if he brought someone in, it was not to sit on the bench.

Henry will play, I've little doubt about that, therefore I'd expect him to replace Henley. Having a CB come RB turned out more than alright for us with Michael Keane (boo) so I'd imagine that Lambert sees Henry playing a similar role.

I'm not a great fan of centre backs playing full back. On the right or left side of a back three is OK, purely at full back not so good. For every time it's been a success I could name nine failures. Full back is a specialised position. Not many guys with the physique to play centre half have the pace and nimbleness to play full back.

Having said that I haven't seen much of Henry. Maybe he can play there. Time will tell.

From what I have heard Lambert is also trying to get in a young midfielder by the name of Thompson at Norwich.

Is this information you're privy too credible? That rumour has been knocking around for almost a month on various websites etc...

Henry signing has to be for right back. Henley had a nightmare first 30 minutes at PNE and the game could have been out of sight.

Clearly, also offers more cover at centre back.

No qualms about this signing.

Its a funny one with O'Sullivan.

He signed a new contract as recently as March or April which keeps him at Ewood until the end of this season. After that I expected him to feature quite frequently this season as the embargo limited our options, yet he has been barely seen under Bowyer.

Suddenly Lambert arrives and he gets a new deal, despite Lambert only being here for a week and him not even making the bench at Preston on Saturday.

I do wonder if this was another like Corry Evans where the groundwork had been done before and the offer was on the table, and the arrival of the new manager has prompted O'Sullivan into getting it signed. I can't believe Lambert would start offering new contracts out to peripheral players like O'Sullivan without having a good look at him first and seeing what he can offer.

I'm not disappointed though. I like O'Sullivan and would like to see him and Lenihan given more opportunities in the first team.

Lambert did try something similar at Villa, so he's certainly not averse to a 3-5-2 lineup. Even if both Marshall and Conway have some decent attributes to play as wing backs in that formation, Olsson was practically born to do it.

Still, more likely Henry's been brought in to offer some proper competition for Henley at right back.
