Small article, suggesting Tony likes a 3-5-2 with wing backs when he doesn't have 2 outstanding Centre-Halfs.

Tony: you don't have two outstanding centre backs, so expect to see this formation.

I have seen him mention he had made a mistake not getting a big 6 foot 4 centre half in at Coventry, to assist the younger players.

Disgracefully, we still don't have a specialist right back worthy of a place so you may well be right. Forgotten what a decent right back looks like at the Rovers. Come back Branagan all is forgiven.

I actually think Nyambe would be a pretty good at Right-Wing back, he has the energy and speed to get up and down. He is so concerned with being out of position, might be better to have a right centre back covering in behind.

Lowe or Conway would be the options on the left.

With three in midfield, he might play two deep and one more advanced. The more advanced should be Mahoney with Akpan and Mulgrew/Evans/Guthrie in behind.

Best 11 in that system:

--------------Steele----------------

----Lenihan Hoban Mulgrew------

Nyambe-------------------Conway

----------Akpan---Guthrie---------

--------------Mahoney-------------

----Gallagher----------Emnes-----

Im not convinced. Few play 4-4-2 and we will have three lads marking one and then passing it back and forth at the back in possession. We will end up with five at the back penned in.

I'd go 4-5-1, with maximum focus on clean sheets, hoping to nick a goal here or there. I wouldn't be changing too much too soon, nor confusing folk. I would also look to play players in their best / recognised positions.

I'd demand the same level of committment as demonstrated when in the shop window for the United game. He can't affect fitness immediately, but tactics, formations and selection matters are key.  We need to stop conceeding two each week, or we will go down.

No idea who Mowbray will go for... Probably our best team is

----------------------Steele

Nyambe---Hoban---Lenihan----Williams

Bennett---Mulgrew---Evans----Mahoney

---------------Gallagher----Emnes

Not sure who is fit or otherwise.

No Danny Graham?!!

Read on Rovers twitter feed this afternoon we had sold 1300 for this, not bad for a Friday night.

Quite a few people will be going because its a new ground, I'm travelling with three people who have not attended a home game this season and the other person going is a season ticket holder going to there first away match of the season. There is also the #Coylepotted bounce.

Out of the 5 of our group going 1 guy has attended 1 home game but between us most away games. And as you say it's a new ground plus people do like the nostalgia of a terrace. To be fair when I bought our tickets (before Coyle had been sacked) 1,200 had been sold so even if chimp head was still here there was still going to be a decent following. No Coyle means an extra 200

I really hope Mowbray picks Mahoney and starts every game until the summer

Football isn't like that. It's not a video game, it's real life. He's a young guy just starting out. He could play well for the next game or two and then run out of steam. You can see the lad hasn't got a full 90 minutes in him yet.  Nobody should be guaranteed a place irrespective of form.

Pick the best starting eleven and subs to win the next game and take it from there.

We need the bounce on this one.

Hard to call as Burton are Buzzing after beating Norwich and will fancy there chances

This game has taken on an even greater significance in last 2 days, new manager and the +\- effects that may have, but also Fulham doing us a massive turn by beating Bristol City.  Sounds from the comments on other teams message boards that Mowbray's instinct is to try to win first, and draw if not.  (Coyle seemed to take not losing as the goal, and losing narrowly as a positive).

I'd love to see Mowbray pick a team set up to be solid, but with enough ball players to keep possession and pass it forwards.  3 -5 -2 system might come eventually others have said Mowbray likes it, hopefully not this Friday,

I'm hopeful that certain of the players that Coyle ignored or demotivated would be up the game if selected.  Wonder if there is a recall clause in Whartons loan if Hoban isnt yet ready?

I expect we will start with considerably more pep. Our slow starts are what have killed us this season. It will be tricky in Burtons small stadium, with an energy fueled atmosphere. Our lads need to stand up and show their character. I think we have enough experience. I would just love if Mulgrew was captain. Although I think changing that now, may be too big a move for a new manager. Making Lowe captain was another questionable legacy from Coyles reign.

I am going to this. I fully expect us to lose sadly. I am looking forward to seeing a new ground and am curious to see how we set up but I don't think we will see progress so soon. We need to scrap like mad to stay in touch these next few games until the new regime bears fruit.

It is vital that our 'footballers' Emnes, Guthrie, Mulgrew and Mahoney are heavily involved to take some pressure off the beleaguered defence.

I hope Mowbray is given a strong reception; I am confident he will be.

We'll be going into this game with Burton as favourites I'm afraid. To be honest I can't see us getting much out of this, I just hope I'm wrong.

We're used to losing and so is Mowbray at the moment. I was looking for a guy to come in with more of a recent history of success. That's one of the reasons I would have liked to see Keith Hill in the job. He's a younger, very confident and opinionated guy and he would have been a breath of fresh air at the club.

However we are where we are and Mowbray will have my support for the immediate future. If we do go down it won't be totally his fault. Do I think he'll see out the 18 months ? Probably not.

Bloody hell can't do 90 minutes after years of training and matches. Tell me you are joking. We are talking basic fitness not form.

As posted earlier, thought we'd even win this one under Coyley (Burton's Tuesday night derby game would take its toll) but even more confident now that we will have a new manager bounce.  You can get great value on a Rovers win with a number of bookies offering 12/5 - almost a licence to print money!

Feeling much more confident about Rovers' prospects now.  Always said we have some very decent players who just needed more pre match preparation re the opponents and some decent organisation and structure.  10 points from our next 4 games, 3 of which are at home, would be no surprise to me.

It's funny but I feel since Mowbray came in a point would be decent whilst a loss would feel 10x worse than it would have before.

Apart from the new manager bounce and fairly competent tactics and radical things like playing players in their best/most productive positions not much Mowbray can do quickly following the holiday camp/ doughnut fest at training over the last 24 months. wouldn't be too disheartened whatever the result   on Friday.

Hopefully at least a point though

Just how much of a handicap will his two sidekicks prove to be ....as neither have shown they can achieve sustainable results even at the lower academy level ?

That's probably ruined Friday night now Mercer

Mercer must have ruined Nigel Adkins night earlier this week also by placing him in a Blackburn town centre hotel of all places
