Just don't read anything into it, the post had nothing to do with his "situation" although he can see why people thought it would, and he's still a "Blackburn" player and that he will see us on Saturday. RevidgeBlue Posted Thursday at 12:33 Posted Thursday at 12:33 Cantwell really is a tosser isnt he. It's not up to him to hint at Dolan's departure when Dolan himself hasnt publicly committed himself at this stage. If Dolan wants to go Public about his intentions then that's up to him and vice versa if he wants to stay tight lipped. Cantwell should have respected that. Any gushing crocodile tear tributes should have been saved until after Dolan's departure had been announced. 4 Quote
Tomphil2 Posted Thursday at 15:47 Posted Thursday at 15:47 Thought it was a bit of a stupid thing to do by Cantwell surely he's not that thick he didn't realise it was mischief making for the sake of it. No need, especially if he's supposed to be your mate. Panicking fans into thinking he was off before weekend is low by anyone's standards but maybe he wants sacking himself. 1 Quote

I dont know if it would make people think Dolan was leaving before weekend necessarily but it's a totally unnecessary distraction leading into a vital game. Some fans might not be as behind Dolan as they otherwise would have been, Dolan's been forced into a sort of half hearted rebuttal and when he does leave, any words he does utter about his time at the Club wont sound as sincere as a result Cantwell would be furious if someone did the same to him. 1 Quote

He like every other player in the championship has off days and rightly so he's got pelters for it...To hope he leaves is a ridiculous comment. Sorry, he has some ability, but nowhere near as much as he thinks he has and I think he's been absolutely dreadful over the course of the season. Quote
Hasta Posted Friday at 12:51 Posted Friday at 12:51 (edited) Cantwell is OK but massively over-hyped. I don't know what he was like when he was younger to get the reputation, but he's just a decent Championship player. I'm still not sure what his best attributes are meant to be as he gives the ball away and get's dispossessed far too easily. Technically comparing him to Adam Wharton is clearly unfair, but someone like Tom Cairney was leagues ahead of him on a technical level. Rothwell had more drive. His vision isn't the best. When he signed I felt it was a coup and we were lucky to have him and that it would probably be for just one season. Now I'd be surprised if someone with genuine promotion aspirations came in for him. However, like Dolan, if he left the chances are the replacement would be unproven or unready. TimmyJimmy Posted Friday at 14:07 Posted Friday at 14:07 Poor days are usually a required investment for the good days to come. The pain of growing into something worthwhile just has to be taken on the chin as we look forward to better times. The foolish approach is to suffer the pain and then let the finished product walk away for free. Dolan has found the escape tunnel, he's not for turning back. A lucky break for him, a win for whoever signs him and a kick in the b*ll*cks for us fans. It's been a rocky road with him so far but just as we see good days ahead we get the middle finger treatment. 'Twas ever thus. Quote

waynerovers Posted Friday at 22:52 Posted Friday at 22:52 If we go up he'll still be here next season. If we don't, he's off to Derby. Quote
roversfan99 Posted yesterday at 00:35 Posted yesterday at 00:35 Everyone seems to assume Derby but for a minimal compensation fee, surely he can do better than Derby. As ever, the dreadful running of the club under Venkys continues. 1 Quote

Inferi Posted yesterday at 18:56 Posted yesterday at 18:56 I think he is a decent Championship footballer with excellent work rate. His lack of pace as well as his decision making on the ball are obvious weaknesses. He also is a very inconsistent performer. What makes me worried about his potential departure is that I don't believe we will sign a replacement of similar or better quality. Fully expecting us to scrape the bottom of the barrel once more. 1 Quote

As ever, the dreadful running of the club under Venkys continues. I imagine he'll have plenty of interest from many Championship teams. Derby may appeal if he had a strong bond with Eustace and enjoyed working under him. If Eustace gets backing in the summer then there's no reason he can't do with Derby what he did here and at Birmingham. I suspect it'll come down to a combination of club reputation/prospects and money. I don't expect a parachute club will necessarily come in for him (not guaranteeing first team football, anyway) so the offers aren't likely to be too far apart. Quote

Keep an eye out for certain journos linking him with one or more of: Boro, Sunderland, Birmingham and Coventry (if they fail in the play offs) this summer. I would add Charlton and Hibs too but won't, because they aren't seen as upgrades on Rovers. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Derby is an easy assumption to make. It might happen as it sounds logical due to the Eustace link, but let's see. Quote

He was playing against borderline PL players - they always have him in their back pocket. He simply doesn't have enough in his locker to trouble them. Case in point that shot right at the GK when unchallenged 20 yards out. He should be burying that. 1 Quote
