Didn't Eamonn Rogers (sp) also have a career ender shortly after joining us.  Never saw him olay but heard he was good.  Have we somehow gotten away from the transfer thread.  Bet there's a few of us tearry eyed with some of those memories.  I truly loved Blackburn Rovers.  Might still, dunno, easier from afar perhaps.  Never.missed home games and only a few away but now if I was still present I can't say I would still go.

You mean after leaving us ? Eamon Rogers was great, a David Dunn who could tackle as well. He was an attacking midfield player but he could play in most position. I saw him play as an emergency right back once and he looked like he’d played  there all his life.

He did it more than once. Indeed, the manager liked him so much in that position, Eamon was worried about losing his place in the ROI team and he refused to play as a full back. He promptly got dropped, as a disciplinary measure.

I was merely asking your opinion. Not what you think Ismael thinks, Gestede thinks or plans, Jackson thinks or what "Nicko" thinks we will do. Do you agree that we need at least 2 more? And would you be disappointed if we didnt?

I think I am pretty sure that Ismael wouldnt "want" a striker who has spent 2 years injured and hardly set the league on fire before that as any choice any time soon. Just as he probably doesnt imminently plan on bringing an academy player through that hasnt even been in the first team extended squad in pre season, which was another of your pre-empted attempts to justify that you seemingly dont expect more than one more attacking player being brought in.

Like I said we discussed yesterday where I said I would bring in another striker over centre midfielder instead.

We will see what happens in the next 5 weeks. Let's see what happens with which positions we signed players for and who we sign, then take from there tbh RF99

I dont need justify anything as I am just passionate Rovers fan and STH.

They have done more than we have then!!!

Our only signing with Championship experience is a bang average McLaughin and certainly non of our signings are world beaters!

With Brittain about to leave (and Travis to follow) and the paucity of our recruitment, it will be Rovers fighting relegation.

Sadly I agree on the relegation bit, we are being steered in that direction.  Lord know their reasoning.  Does me head in, just a few mill from a real.crack at some serious income and they put the brakes on.  Nuts.

We have plenty of championship experience in this squad

Who says Brittain is about to leave? no bids for the last 2 weeks?

Yes you said the same last season about chances yet you still don't learned from your mistakes

How about this.

If Brittain is still with us when the season kicks off, I will pay £100 to a charity of your choice.

If Brittain has gone when the season kicks off, you pay £100 to a chaity of my choice.

Speaking of "YouTube" players. I wonder how (2009) Carlos Villanueva would fare in the 2025-2026 Championship?

I bet 2009 Aaron Mokoena would be the best player in the division. Wonder how many other of our "bang average" players of Pre-Venky (Premier League) years would be absolute studs for us now... Jason Roberts, Zurab Khizanishvilli, Alan Fettis (🤣), Shefki Kuqi, Vince Grella (💀), Keith Andrews (👈).

Eamon was a mercurial talent "they call him Eamon Rogers, they call him the king of the land, his hair hangs over his shoulders tied up with a blue and white band".

Played nearly 200 games for Rovers and his goal record was about 1 in 4 (mainly from midfield).  Moved to Charlton with 'Dumper' Endean coming the other way as part of the deal.  Sadly, affected by injury after leaving Rovers and I seem to recall he was forced to retire from the game 2 or 3 years after leaving Rovers.

A class above anyone we have now.

Blimey, Endean was terrible!

If Rogers was as good as everyone describes we didnt half get shafted on that deal.

I don't know why you say this sort of thing to Chaddy when he has repeatedly told you he doesn't gamble at all. Or is that precisely why you make these offers?

When you say compete do you mean towards the top or towards the bottom?

I think if we don't get at least 3 players in who can hit the ground running that we're in a bit of trouble. Especially a striker and a winger.

Rovers have never competed under venkys. All we've done is make up the numbers.

Fine hairstyle.  Seem  to recall he went to Millwall.

Gestede said more than once that incoming fees will not be added to the budget that was set.

We are fine with ffp...we spend penny's on incoming transfers and the playing squad wages have been cut way down from what they were previously.

So going off your logic we should sell Hyam, Brittain, Tronstad and Travis this summer as they all have one year left.

Do you think we would still be a championship club going into 26/27 if we do this?

We should sign them to long term extensions and if they refuse to sign we shouldn’t allow them to run down their contracts. A normal club, this is not the case, would either sell the asset or secure it. We seem to do neither.

Chaddy doesn't gamble at all?

Have you not seen him post about the football bets he has made!!!  Is that not gambling?

Why do I make such offers?

Well @chaddyrovers makes posts with such apparent  certainty and if he was convinced about such certainty then surely he wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth!!!  If I'm pretty certain about something, I put my money where my mouth is.  Simple as.

We have gambled massively so far on signings. Other than McLouglin nobody has a clue if these mystery lads are going the way of Tronstad or Telalovic.

At this point you have to expect it’s a weaker side than last season.

Attacking wise especially, Dolan and Weimenn were major goal contributors and have yet to be replaced.

Bruce, I do gamble but I won't bet with other people on here and I deffo won't be publicly showing off like Mercer does.

Like I have repeatedly told you previously I have no interest betting you.

Why don't you get the message Mercer?

The bids for Brittain was pre Stanley friendly since then over 2 weeks has past and he has been playing for us in 3 friendly including Friday game and he flew with Rovers on Saturday. Yes a journalist on Tuesday, Derby bid was accepted, yet he has played in friendlies on Tuesday and Friday, so clearly not true.

Agree with people's statements to say on paper we're weaker (currently) than last year...Of course hard to tell for certain until we've kicked a ball.

We just have to hope Gestede has an exciting RW lined up and if these signings turn out to be duds, then it's imperative we keep Travis and Tronstad. If we loose one of them then we could end up in a sticky situation - That's how important they both are.

That was our starting 11 for the opening game last season.

Much of a muchness really between that and the one we are likely to field at the start of this season.

Even if we go with the starting 11 of the last game it's still going to be similar:

You swap Batth and Dolan out of that 11 for McLoughlin and De Neve and as it stands that's probably the starting 11 we field against WBA.

I don't think the team is weaker as such but it definitely hasn't improved at all.

It's not how it starts it's how it looks a few months in and just like previous seasons mid way once injuries, fatigue etc begins to bite we'll struggle again.

It's inevitable with such a low budget and amount of lightweights in the squad so we need a great run of form and many points again before that kicks in.
