From a purely football perspective, Iโve never thought he is much of a player, very limited ability wise. Maybe limited, ability wise, but a big influence on a game, and when he isn't in the side we do seem to struggle. Perhaps it is time for a new broom though...and a new style of play to emerge from the chaos around the club. Quote
Ricky Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago See Hull have picked up John Lundstrum on loan. Another good signing for a club with a transfer embargo. Probably done better business than us this summer.ย Quote

Must be difficult working with a shoelace.ย No sign of a loan either which is good. 2 Quote
TimmyJimmy Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Buckley AND Pears! Now I understand what RG was on about in his interview. He said exciting, I say taking a Hail Mary. VI obviously made it a condition of joining that doing the same things over and again and expecting different results is not on. He's decided to bin most of the team and start again. Brave man. With the exception of Brittain I'm not going to miss any of the departures, DB maybe but as others have said - ageing and injury prone. I doubted it before but I think Trav going may actually be on the cards given the clear out. VI is taking his punt and for good or bad reasons RG is going along with it. We could be looking at a near completely new team this year. Someone somewhere is confident and backing themselves though I confess it's not me. Good luck VI, you're going to need it I think. 1 Quote

I'm not keen on Trav leaving at all either, although I do rate him ability-wise more than most. I think describing him as very limited is always a bit harsh. He's not the most technical of players sure, but I don't think he's as bad as people make out. Quote

I expected them to be about as good as a bottom half Championship side, but they moved the ball really really well. I have a bit more respect for the Eredivisie outside of your PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord types now. We were chasing shadows for 3/4 of the game. All their players were technically accomplished, fit and faster than us. Pass and move off either foot. Play in to runners. We play walking football, they played running football.ย 4 Quote

I was thinking of that season where Garner and Sellars were both out for the start of the season after their groin surgery had been delayed at the same time. I don't think they returned until January! Didn't they sign an injured lad from City then, Beckford or something ? Played about ten mins. Difference is the club was truly skint then not just owned by clowns dripping in gold. 1 Quote

Popular Post roversfan99 Posted 2 hours ago Popular Post Posted 2 hours ago Brittain, Batth, Beck and Dolan were all part of our best 11 last season and will be huge misses. Weimann will also be a miss as a squad player who can pop up with goals. No point pretending otherwise. 11 Quote

Think this is spot on. For once it seems that there is a strategy and execution around the recruitment, targeting more athletic profiles in an age group where they have first-team experience but young enough for growth and resale value. Too bad the financials means it has to be a high degree of gambling.ย Given that it takes probably at least 6 months or more to adapt to the Championship, we're probably not going to see much impact from them before the latter part. That's if they are able to cope at all.ย Still I prefer this approach to scrambling around deadline for some second rate Premier League youngsters and some veteran cast-offs where the legs has gone.ย For the upcoming season I would be satisfied to avoid a relegation struggle with this squad, the ultimate bonus would be to finish above Derby 1 Quote

We have people even implying that Brittain wasnt as good as he was. Most if not all teams will have lost players that were important to them last season.ย Quote
