I still cannot get over the fact those at Ewood thought he was a suitable replacement for Hyam.

Absolute extreme cost cutting and downgrading that was.

Was he not more of a Baath replacement?

Doesn't make him any better but still.

Some people have given Miller some stick on this site, deservedly man of the match. He gives 120% every game, if the rest of the team followed suit, we'd be out of the relegation zone.

I thought Cashin was MOTM tonight. Miller is pretty limited but do agree that you can never doubt his effort, always gives 100%.

Younger, on decent money, think they saw him as someone who they expected to become the main centre half.

Gudjohnsen must be nowhere near fully fit otherwise he'd surely be starting.

He did look very clumsy when he came on tonight. Don't think he's ready to start again yet.

Well we made hard fucking work of that tonight, especially considering we were 1 nil up after 12 minutes against the worst side in the league, who have minus 7 points and 1 win all season.

In fairness I do think Wednesday put a shift in. They battled like they were fighting for their lives, even though they're long dead. I guess they're playing without pressure though, and for pride. I was surprised they never let their heads drop though, respect. They've been losing regularly but not often by large margins.

The lack of enthusiasm from fans and players at the final whistle told a story. We hobbled home against a poor side, when we were hoping for a resounding win to boost our morale in time for a crucial game against Norwich. I'm not convinced this is going to be enough to change our momentum. But anything short of a win would have been a death sentence.

Miller Carter Cashin

Alebiosu Baradji Tronstad Morishita

Jorgensen Gudjohnson Afolayan

3-4-3 or 5-2-3 - this should be the team for the next game, drop De Neve and Cantwel, Sonny captain

Awful performance . Everything is so laboured and dull.

Why we're playing a centre half at left back when we've two solid left backs. Pickering also has shown he's useful at set pieces AND he's actually our own player.

Not sure of Morishitas best position.  Could imagine,  a bit like Emerton, him being more effective coming from deep in a wing back role..

Cantwell,  never seen anything in him.

Agree regarding Joseph. Give him a go.

Rather see Atcheson play over Mclouglin

He's a tiny, slow lad. What on earth would possess you to play Morishita at WB?

Also Pickering's set piece tonight was awful - as they have been throughout his time here.

Why hasn’t carter been playing all season??

Always hurt, it seems.

Tronstad, for Captain.

Morishita has value, leads Rovers in assists (5).

Thats a decent team there.

Miller and Cashin future tag team champions of the world. Morishita looked better, and Baradji looks like Patrick Viera at times. Really thought we did well in first half. Second half was a mess, probably panicing.

Grateful for 3 points

Grateful for injured players coming back

Grateful Oxford lost despite being gifted the opening goal.

Grateful Rovers hierarchy were faffing about potting Ishmael on deadline day so Pickering is still a Rover and not at Oxford.

Grateful Baggies are in free fall.

Very much doubt Johnson had much effect given Ishmael trained them and the starting line up was such a mish mash.

Reason for hope going to Norwich but that wasn't a game to instil confidence in anyone.

Considering our position, our form, our season, I couldn't care less if we played worse than that. We needed those 3 points.

If we play the same against Norwich and win the game. Bring it on.

Finally, I don't care what people say about Lewis Miller. I bloody love him. Cantwell, as captain, could learn a lot from him. He may not have the best technical ability but he gives 100% no matter what. I know that if he's playing, we will have at least 1 player who will be fighting for us fans to win that game. I just hope the other players look towards him to see the effort he puts in and tries to mirror that.

I could well have misheard but I thought Wednesday fans were actually singing 'we want Venky's out' last night.

No way we can play Morishita at left wing back.... He can't get up and down, and even if he could he cant physically compete on the ball.

Our only real hope for 352 - based on no evidence i can point to - is Afolayan can do it. But is he even left footed? This says no : https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oladapo-afolayan/profil/spieler/487850

If we do try it I guess we might just use Pickering but expect him to tuck in and focus on defence, and give Alebiouso free rain down the right and let the LCM (Mori below) focus on getting forward in the left channel. Still its obvious for the opposition to target our left side in 352 as Pickering/Riberio can get done for pace easily, and De Neve has such incredibly poor defensive awareness.

                    Miller Carter Cashin

Alebiosu Baradji Tronstad Morishita Pickering

              Jorgensen.   Gudjonsen

I think 352 goes in the bin till Hedges is fit or we use it to close out games.

On the positive side having Ohashi to bring on fresh should improve our ability to close out games significantly. And I agree Cantwell needs to be dropped. Absolutely horrendous decision making and execution of passing recently, though cant fault him for effort.

4231 obviously suits us better defensively now. But then as we have no comfortable wide forwards, offensively it looks very unsatisfying. I guess we could just push Alebiouso forward... But his game is about the overlap. Gah, such horrendous squad planning.

                               Toth

  Alebiouso.    Carter.   McLoughlin.  Cashin.

Last night was the worst possible advert for English football. A sorry tale of 2 clubs decimated by horrendous owners played out on the pitch, and it was objectively one of the worst games of professional football you’ll ever see.

We often hear about a “lack of quality”, but last night the majority of players on the pitch showed that they are a fair way off Championship standard. It was more a lack of competence.

I’m glad we had one or two more competent players than them and took all 3 points, but if that’s our level of performance for the rest of the season they are the last we are getting.

Wednesday might be on minus a hundred points and be without a goal in months, but I’d gladly swap positions with them. There’s light at the end of the tunnel for them, while we are stuck with Venky’s.

Up until now matches were an escape from the farcical running of the club, you could try and set that aside for an hour and a half and “get behind the lads ffs”. I think it’s changed now, last night the football felt fairly incidental to the rest of the circus going on around us. The subdued atmosphere (although definitely more home fans on than against Watford) was odd.

I’m sure there will be another Suhail inflicted crisis in a day or two anyway.

Cantwell was awful last night but let’s hope it was just a bad day at the office, it was really really bad though. We come up against one of his old clubs next so let’s hope he’s up for that one and puts on a proper performance. The problem of no goals in the team nearly struck again last night but fortunately we managed to nick one.

Agreed with the comment earlier about it being Cantwell or Baradji but not both together. I’d actually be tempted to have TGH in the middle as at least he has a bit of an engine and will put a foot in. See he got married at the end of January and doesn’t seem to have had a look in recently. He was awful at right wing back but I’ve not thought he was as bad in the middle. I’m only assuming they’ve decided they won’t be signing him so aren’t going to play him.

The Sheffield Wednesday supporters, were singing your going down with the Wednesday, if our performances don't improve, from last night, who can disagree. Hopefully we'll see an improvement.

They might be forgiven slightly, for last night's performance. We got off to the perfect start, ahead after 12 minutes, it was a 6 pointer in front of a new man in the dugout, nerves started to creep in, after failing to put the game beyond doubt. Let's hope it gives them the confidence, to put on better performances.
