gazsimm Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Great find from Sparky, he is going to be a great player for us lets all do the samba, lets all do the samba
blue phil Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I think rover6's answer is naive in the extreme. Seemed a perfectly reasonable post IMO that was jumped on by a couple of posters acting like schoolyard bullies .
Pugg Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 When The Axe scored yesterday and it was replayed on the big screen, his reaction was amazing. I just hope he carries on like he has been doing. Apart from a couple of dodgy clearances I can't fault him.
OJRovers Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Samba was huge again for us on sunday. He was MOTM on the BBC player rater and also in the Guardian. I can't wait for him to get his first goal for us, I think he'll go crazy!!
Pugg Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I can't wait for him to get his first goal for us, I think he'll go crazy!! I hope it's in front of the BBE end . Mind you judging from his reactions I think he'd have a heart attack!
3rdpillar Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 definitely feeling 'samba-time' on the new red and black away next year Samba shirts come in XXL only!
Perth_Rover Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Samba shirts come in XXL only! Ive got an inch in height on samba
Hasta Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 He's a legend already. I do think though that sometimes opposition players can charge into him, knock him off balance and the refs let them get away with it purely because he's so big.
broadsword Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Samba was huge again for us on sunday. He always is, though, isn't he?
RevidgeBlue Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 On the evidence of his form thus far, Samba's contract needs to be ripped up and re-negotiated immediately with a release clause in the order of 30m. And I'm not being facetious.
Hughesy Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Top class samba. Full credit to Hughes and his team for finding another gem. We need a song for him though.
LeftWinger Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Samba Career Stats I can't think this is right - but seen it in two different places (the above link and wikipedia). Samba has made 24 career appearances at club level before joining Rovers!?!?! If he's this good now - imagine what he'll be like with a few games under his belt.
Pugg Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 We need a song for him though. What about in the tune of Tugay, you are my turkish delight.... Samba! He is Congolese! You come up to his knees! You come up to his knees! Yes, i'm joking hehe.
b12_simon Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Top class samba. Full credit to Hughes and his team for finding another gem. We need a song for him though. Let's all do the Samba!
Neil Weaver Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I can't wait for him to get his first goal for us, I think he'll go crazy!! His sister was sat in the row behind me yesterday. She's, errrrrrrr, enthusiastic. If she's there and Big Chris scores (*), well I'll make my will now. * - guaranteed not to be from an MGP corner. Surely they can't get funnier than yesterday though - his 'shot' went out for a City throw on the halfway line. You've got to laugh.
Paul Mellelieu Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Hang on a minute Blue Phil. Rover6 says something, in my opinion which is a tad stupid, and I point it out. We all know how Hughes has brought these players into the club - a point made by PhilipL - and that amounts to bullying. I don't think so.
LeChuck Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Why didn't you question how Philipl got his "1000 players" figure? (Not saying it isn't true by the way).
Paul Mellelieu Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I presumed he was not being literal. Maybe I was wrong.
92er Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Samba is looking a superb young centre half at the moment who really could develop into a legend. The areas he needs, or the club coaches need, to look at are when he gets slightly out of position and rescues the situation by sticking out a leg and, thus far, getting away with it-I just worry that eventually it will go wrong, the other team will score and it will affect his confidence. He has also, later on in a couple of matches, got out of position, ended up more as a right back, been skinned but got away with it as the other team didn't score. I'm not sure if this is due to physical or mental tiredness but it is something to be looked at. I am certainly not looking to be critical!
daren Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 He's been immense. He gets away with the leg out because his leg is so bloody long it can go around a player without touching him. Credit to the team for realising what potential the lad has when he came over. This system of taking players on trial first is really working out exceptionally well. He does seem a little unsure positionally in certain situations, but you cannot fault his workrate, tackling or the fact that you'd need to pass a ball off the Interanational space station to get it over him! He's only young, and I'm sure will improve. Which is a scary thought (for opposition, that is)!
philipl Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I presumed he was not being literal. Maybe I was wrong. I am being literal and it is the truth from inside the club. Certain posters on here share the benefit of their internet compilation handiwork with us from time to time so you can imagine what goes through the ether to someone who actually makes the buying decisions.
brfc fan Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Samba half an unsung hero. It's really good of them to do a piece about that. Personally I think ALL the Rovers players are unsung heroes but that could be a good thing considering the interest in McCarthy and others.
