But in an earlier post you stated that we should look for players for the future (ie potential). That is exactly what those players mentioned, are.

In an earlier post I said we should be looking to building a squad for next season, ensuring we aren't starting from nothing. I also stated the aim should be promotion within 3 seasons. That's very different from a sole focus on bringing through academy players with potential, even though they do play a role.

there does`nt appear to be much ambition around ewood unfortunately, unless gregg and jdt pull out a few really good transfers this window and next summer,im`e not expecting much,in fact im`e expecting more of the same aimless stuff we currently have to endure

I've a lot of faith in GB. He's exactly what we need. JDT has us playing some pretty bland stuff, however points wise I do think he's over achieved with the squad we have. I'd hope there are more signs of things clicking next season and we're left just needing the final pieces of the jigsaw.

One of my biggest hopes is that Broughton is truly empowered and JDT will be judged on results. A long way from what we experienced with Mowbray where he was king of the castle.

Every time I have seen him, he isn't an out and out number 9, talented player but likes to drop off and possibly better suited off a main striker.

Thanks. Don't most strikers now come drop deep someone and then run in behind someone. I take you would prefer more than target man type then to be a focus point of the forward line

Failing that, we could sell Brereton and bring in a few permanent signings.

Yes you could sell him and bring in a couple of players but does the wage budget allow this which is the same as last season. Can the wage budget be increase if you sell BBD to bring him 2 or 3 players? This is the sort of problems most clubs go through. How much could we spent on replace BBD which would need 2 players. A wide left player and striker. So how much can you spend on both in terms of fees and wages, etc. What type of quality is around.

Does BBD want to go? maybe he wants to sign a pre contract with foreign club for the last 12 months. We just don't know

It might not even be our choice.

If you were Brererton would you move with 6 months left on your deal when you can choose the offer that suits you best?

Even in the summer he didn't appear that fussed over us not accepting the bids.

I think he will move to Spain in the summer and I think that always been preference

Gelhardt suits a team that likes to press from the front from what I’ve seen and read, think he’d be a good fit for us. Leeds fans rate him very highly.

thanks for reply. We need our front players to press from the front.

Out of curiosity, anyone know why we are skint and have to rely on loans?

Thought we had a healthy budget in summer?  Since then hasn't Waggott said we exceeded revenue on ST.  Plus we've been on sky  every week and will get fees for that.

The quote was we have healthy budget compare to teams without parachute payments. We spend between 4 to 5 million in the summer. We might maybe spend 1 million this window.

Why does anyone have any faith in Broughton?

Seems like (another) overpaid BS merchant based on performance to date.

We are 6 months into this project so why don't you have any faith in him. Since he has come in we have brought in head coach, head of recruitment plus a number of other staff with the football set up, decide we need head of European scouting back.

What do you want GB to do?

Based on the fact he hasn't delivered anything so far. Talks a good game

He’s been in the post just over 6 months, is the head of several departments within Rovers. How can you judge his performance in such a short space of time? I like what’s he done so far and think given more time will be a great asset for the club.

An academy guy all his previous career who for reasons only the likes of Suhail and Waggott know was appointed as DoF of a Championship club to learn on the job whilst running all football Departments below Boardroom level.

I did not make that up.

Maybe we're being harsh thinking he's out of his depth and really just the innocent victim hired to deflect away from the real villains.

I get the fact that he shouldnt be written off, one at best average but difficult transfer window in. But on the flip side, why do you (and others) have seemingly ultimate faith?

For me, I am still in the middle.

getting hirst and mola here has`nt exactly made a great impression on me,at least he can`t get any worse on the recruitment front,it`s virtually impossible to get two worse players than those two

He’s had clear progression within his career.

Head of Academy recruitment
Academy manager

Academy director

Holds both UEFA pro licence and Football Association Technical Director qualifications.

Natural progression would be to take a sporting director role.

He’s fully qualified to do the job.

i'd be pretty happy with Broughton if he manages to build on binning Hurst off and hopefully getting Edun out on loan by pulling off signing Porteous, Gelhardt and a midfielder off the back of it this window.

Every recruitment team gets it’s wrong sometimes. Even the best teams in the world. Now we have a fully staffed recruitment team in post, I would like to think we will get most transfers correct - will never be 100%.

he’s working from the owners strategic plan. To be a sustainable premiership club. You are only getting that through using the academy that we will be paying soon around 4 million for per year and buying young players to develop.

Cant be buying established players unfortunately unless we get a bargain and the players come from a club who don’t pay a lot (Hyam)
