James Hill has been a really good signing. It’s so handy having a lad who can play right back very effectively and yet be able to move over to centre half and play equally well.

Lots of times you get full backs who move over ok but are vulnerable in the air and then you get the steady centre halves who get done for pace and nimbleness when they play out wide.

James seems to be equally at home in both positions.

Or Hill is just a good player.

Very good win, not the best performance with a young side that was flagging towards the end but a 3 nil away win is always very welcome to extend our very impressive away record and it showed great spirit. It was never a 3 nil game with us very much sitting in occasionally countering at 1 nil with the goalkeeper mistake from a tame shot from Garrett leading to Moran getting a goal.

The first goal showed the use of actually putting the ball in the box, the second was a very fortunate error from their keeper

Our best player IMO was Tronstad, did that water carrier job superbly alongside Wharton who a couple of brilliant passes aside was sloppy. The 2 centre backs stood out too, Pickering baring 1 or 2 shaky moments was fine and Travis settled down although leaves too many gaps as a full back. Wahlstedt made one good save and otherwise even in the air wasnt ever tested with the defence staying resolute and Stoke lacking the quality.

Moran I thought was quiet first half, he is a good useful addition but he can drift out of games and hasnt scored in the league until today which should hopefully boost his confidence. Our sole goal threat comes through Szmodics who to say is top scorer is not a particularly great finisher, he has had loads of shots and missed some sitters, he missed 2 good chances today. Armstrong used to take loads of shots but scored loads too and used to get pelters. The thing is, Szmodics makes things happen, his movement is really good and there is a reason he is always the one getting chances in the first place, he runs in behind and he is a constant nuisance. Dolan was poor and Brittain is not a natural attacker.

Stoke were hopeless, with Vidigal strangely an unused sub and Gayle who is long past it and then Leris and Jun-Ho who dont really look up to it.

The worry is the size of the squad. The team were shattered towards the end with Tomasson naturally reluctant to make subs with the likes of Markanday, Gamble and Duru just making up the numbers, Telalovic wouldnt have come on unless the game was won either. Its a real shame that Tomasson whilst not being perfect is clearly a very talented manager and the owners simply do not give enough of a shit to even slighty back him. He is doing really well with a young and threadbare squad.

Its a 'blues' as in colour and conversely happiness 47er, but you know that already!!!! And yes we are happy tonight!

Don't try and make sense of football chants!

For years before matches in the early 80's we sang 'We are the Rovers, We are the Champions'....'We are the Rovers, Champions of Europe'....normally before losing at home to Swindon, or Port Vale, or Oxford. Real Madrid weren't panicking, but we kept singing it.

I used to love that one, I was always singing it even on non match days 😀

Turning off the tap was bad but I think doing it with no warning long after the transfer window had already opened was the mallet that really rammed home the cactus enema.

Wonderful expression! Never heard it before.😂

One thing a like about Sammi is he doesn’t let whatever has happened in the game previously weigh him down. He’s always ready to go again.

Spot on. Never lets his head drop, keeps trying and wants to be involved even if things aren't going his or our way. An exemplary team mate and exactly the type of personality needed across the pitch to push a team to the top.

JDT once again highlighting the difference between his ambition and Waggot's (and by extension the owners) lack of in the ITV4 interview. Good lad. Keep telling it like it is.

"Blackburn..they play crap every week, but they win..."

It was usually “Andy Crawford 1 ~0” Game over. Jack didn’t like us or Kendall much did he! Howard Kendall was the best manager in football at Everton in the 80s and was pretty bloody good at little old Blackburn Rovers beforehand. My second favourite in my lifetime after King Kenny.

Didn't Ennis score at Ewood in a league cup tie against Walsall.

Yes he did, came on late, got injured in the short period he was on and has hardly been seen since.

In any case since when was Walsall a Championship team? Not sure what your point is tbh.

Great result for Rovers, but it will count for nothing if we don't get back to winning ways at Ewood.

So true. Today counts for naught if we don’t win or at least draw against Birmingham on Wednesday. The rot has to stop
