The fitter he got the better he played. He’s  a squad player who brings vital experience. We don’t have enough of those players so I’m glad he’s here.

But he wasn’t brought in as a squad player. He was brought in to replace Baker who was 1st reserve for Travis / Tronstadt. Travis was injured so he needed to start immediately. And any other injuries (which happened) meant he would start more.

The club was rightly criticised for putting the managers in that position, and the player was rightly criticised as he wasn’t good enough to be starting in those games. So when you say the criticism of his was ‘wildly over-exaggerated ’, I think your way off.

If he wasn’t fit we shouldn’t have brought him in for that situation. Although he was never really injured for Plymouth and had played during December and January for them so why do you think he wasn’t fit? He just couldn’t get in their team.

The criticism during January to March was justified. I’d accept someone thinking it was a bit harsh. It certainly wasn’t “wildly exaggerated “.

Going forward, as a squad player who we aren’t expecting to need to start then fine, although id prefer someone who is pushing for a first team spot.

If Hayden Carter plays 20 games this season it’ll be unbelievable. That squad is so thin it’s scary!

Yeah, I hate to give up on a player, when we need players. But, he’s already out 4-6 weeks. I don’t see him ever being a healthy, consistent performer for Rovers.

How good is Scott Whartons distribution.

Thought he was fantastic yesterday.

I can't say I enjoyed the blind, suicide pass to Toth if I'm honest.

never included Buckley in that 5.

Travis, Tronstad, Montgomery, Forshaw and Tavares is the 5

maybe not for yourself cos it suits you

I said this morning we need 3 more signings in now, a centre back, right side attacking player and striker. Plus any replacement if Travis, Pears, Tronstad or Brittain leaves

that's gives us 26 players in the squad.

Won't Baradji be that right side attacking player if he signs here?

is it? so JDT and Eustace told you this? Both picked him regularly

Come on Chaddy, that's not a 5 that will get you into the play-offs. We saw what happened last year when Travis and Tronstad were injured.

Nixon saying we’re back in for Bardji. Only now the contract is “pay as you play”. No idea what that means but no way he accepts it. If he does we should immediately convert Caters contract to the same.

There will be a baseline where he'll be getting paid what he's on for his club but paid extra based on appearances.

I'd personally steer clear of the Baradji signing and look elsewhere. It's a lot of money by our standards and there are too many red flags re: his fitness and injury status.

I assume the deal structure will be around appearances. So a very low fee, but higher fees if he hits certain appearance milestones.

that sort of deal is for a player who`s had a very serious injury and is looking for a new club, there is no way him or his club will accept that,i think we are wasting our time or in typical venky style, trying to get him on the cheap

It’s irrelevant to his club the fee is still the same itl be negotiated in the players contract so itl be up to him

Why would we sign a central midfielder (an injured one) to play on the right?

And no, its called having an opinion beyond just assuming that if a manager picks a player, its because hes exactly what he wants. Budget restrictions, issues with recruitment etc dont come into it.

Still think we are 4 or 5 short. Wanted 6 or 7, lost 2 or 3 that we hadnt factored in. Also still have to sort the futures of Brittain, Tronstad and Travis. We supposedly have "learnt" from previous mistakes

I read he has played off the right before but even if its going to Centre midfielder here that's gives us plenty of depth, options and cover for potential injuries. Whilst I wouldn't be priority another centre midfielder signing but focusing on bringing in a right sided attacking player which we need. after that Striker with some pace and another centre back.

If we sign those signings in their positions I would be happy with the squad.

squad

Keepers - Toth Pears Michalski

Right back - Brittain, Alebiosu

centre back - Carter Hyam Wharton McLoughlin plus 1 more

left back - Pickering Ribeiro

centre midfielder - Travis Tronstad Montgomery Forshaw Tavares

Right side - Hedges 1 more signing

number 10 - Cantwell Tyjon

left side - De Neve Karbgo

strikers - Ohashi Gueye plus 1.

I would loan Leonard out for the season and would sell Buckley.

Nixon has said the players wages might not be factored in to this deal. The difference is the overall fee for the player. Rovers want to pay x amount then different instalments once player hits different milestones.

Ideal world yes but I think it's fanciful to think that Brittain, Travis and Tronstad will all be here come end of the window.

I was under the impression it was in the player contract a significantly lowered base salary but padded up with appearance fees to the level of their worth

suppose rovers board are likely trying to find a cheaper solution it sounds

He doesn't appear to have had a very serious injury, at least not since he joined them last summer. Transfermarkt shows him as missing 4 games on 2 occasions, and only one of them shows as injury (the other says not in squad...though I presume that was still an injury as he was a top player for them). He has played since the injury. I think it's more a case of something showed up on a scan that is of concern and could develop into a serious injury.

Now the cat is out the bag, his club may well be prepared to accept a deal a bit more like that. Other buyers will be aware of the risk and we were already the best bid. They only paid 250k Euros for him last summer so I wouldn't be surprised if they'll take a bit less guaranteed.

I believe the earlier rumours about this renegotiation suggested we were going back to the club to talk the fee down.

who knows what will happen with those 3 but Boro haven't come back with another bid for Brittain since the original bid over 10 days ago. They have enquired about Swansea's right back Josh Key and Chelsea's Alfie Gilchrist

We have been for ages. I thought Cantwell might have filled thst role.

I think the reason Cantwell struggled there last season is that playing too far forward he get's isolated and bullied - too slow to escape his markers and weak enough that they can just push him off the ball.

He's got technique, passing, shooting etc. but the other team knows it and he gets marked out of the game. I don't think he can play in our current setup and be as effective as he should be at 10.

I genuinely think we should shift the formation a bit so that he can play deeper and be protected by Travis and Tronstad - go from ie.

Travis    Tronstad

Winger   Cantwell   Winger

Forward

 to

Tronstad

Travis   Cantwell

Winger                          Winger

Forward

See if we cant get a Tugay/Savage type partnership going. I think he'll be a lot more effective with someone acting as his enforcer. He can still make runs from deep if the space opens up. Risks isolating Yuki, of course, which will depend a lot on who our wide players end up being. Not to mention whether we still have Travis and/or Tronstad.

Talks that the player really wants the move, Rovers have gone back with a lower offer to club which they Rejected.player could force the move but will be hard because he’s injured anyway.  Shame really as he looks a player. One to keep an eye on in January maybe, Or Rovers pay the fee

Agree

Centre forward, right winger, centre back, centre mid.

First 2 need to be better than we have.

Replace any of Trav, Sonny, Britain if they leave.

So is Baradji actually injured right now?

Or is it a case that the medical has picked up something that could/will cause a problem at some point in the future?

Surely if they said 6 or 7 BEFORE Dolan, Weimann and Batth left, 5 more (ie 9) is not unreasonable.

To be fair, all I am asking for is another number 10. Otherwise we are in a position where if Cantwell get injured, Tyjon has to play every game and hes not used to senior football and has had injury problems. Whereas sign another and we can blood him in a more controlled manner.

Im guessing based on your comments that you cant understand the Badarji deal even before the failed medical.

Depends on the fee he'd fetch and who' would be  brought in to replacement.

Difficult to gauge as there's been no obvious interest in him to date.

What is it you don't like about him?
