Absolutely Ismael would have wanted to keep him and I don't think it's a case of the board not listening or wanting to keep Brittain, it's simply that the player wanted to go to a more ambitious, well run club that pays a higher wage. 

Under this current ownership, we're just not able to compete financially or operationally with ~80% of the other clubs in this league.

Must disagree with you on that one.  Keith had the versatility to play in midfield as well as a player who could operate on either flank at full-back.  The season he left, in December, we had spent serious money on Allan Hunter, Ken Knighton and Brian Hill, in a bid to get promotion.  We were challenging at the top of the table until Keith left and then results fell away in the second half of the season.  Tried to fill the gap with a combination of Ray Charter, Frank Kopel and Laurie Calloway - all inferior players - and confidence seemed to be impacted by the loss of England's best right-back at the time.

The pattern is always there because Pasha is always there. The links to the very earliest days of Venky's reign are still there. 

How is it that Gestede turned up from nowhere to shadow Waggott with a view to taking a senior role - with no previous experience? It's the same pattern.

I agree about the team, but I thought it a hammer blow to the club - a pointer to there being only a future of Coddingtons and Conlons, rather than any more Newtons. Brittain will be forgotten this time next year.

Happy with Lewis Miller … Apart from Grella & his injuries we never go wrong with an Aussie.. Like my defenders and especially full backs to be strong & skillfull & hes both…. Ismael has decided that he’s going to do it his way with these type of players …..

Liked Brittain but it took nearly 2 years convincing that he was any good … He was average defensively and was always getting caught out or out of positions …..He’s crossing was on a different level … good luck to him

Very positive about this Miller signing. Seems extremely driven, passionate and feisty. Still 4 more needed but it's a good start.

Depends what sort of wage he is on, If "some European semi pro side" cannot afford to match them, then he might fancy sitting things out, in which case we would need to pay his contract up

* Sending him away on loan would not remove him from the esc calculation, he would need to be off the books completely

Absolutely bizarre to think that out of the team that did so well for the vast majority of last season, we've lost the manager, three out of four of the back line (Beck, Batth and Brittain) Dolan and Weimann who was a useful squad player.

With no doubt more to follow. Clubs generally tend to implode when they've been relegated and get picked off. Not when they've had a generally successful season.

This lot dont give a rat's arse do they. We're now unwilling to pay the going rate for decent Championship players which will only end one way. Then, when we get relegated to League 1and revenue falls off a cliff due to reduced gate receipts and loss of the Championship TV deal, how long before we're then unwilling to pay the going rate for the better players in League 1? Rinse and repeat.

Happy times.

That’s the issue though, the second any of our players become half decent they’re gone. It’s a vicious circle that we just aren’t going to get out of any time soon.

we are not allowed to push on,jdt and eustace wer`nt having any of it,it only worked with mowbray because he was content with the plan of no ambition,i can see val getting ****** off,especially if we are well up the table come christmas and they ruin the january transfer window as usual

Well it’s actually the model that we are aiming for (unless we get promoted)

The problem with the model is the owners/pasha don’t want to re-invest correctly/significantly enough for it to work long term

Completely agree, if Rovers did similar to teams like Boro, and reinvested circa 70% of fees received, they would be in a much healthier position both on the pitch, and financially

As it is, we would probably be thinking all of our Christmases have come at once if 17% was reinvested

I agree with that. However, our next rumoured incoming is Swedish, and we've had far less success with players from that part of the world.
