I’ll be honest. At this point I think we should take the money for Travis and move on.

I love Travis, and by no means want him to leave. But at the same time, he clearly does want to go, isn’t going to sign a new contract and isn’t bought into what VI is trying to do.

Unlike many, I can see a strategy to what VI is building, and while I think we may suffer in the short term, we need to accept that this year will be transitional for us. For that to be successful we do need players bought into the long term plan. ATM that doesn’t seem to be Travis and it may be better culturally for the club to take a fee and move on. I really struggle to see how we can keep a captain who doesn’t want to be here.

Come off it, there is no plan other than to cut costs as K Hod says.

What is V trying to do? Trying to build the most toothless team with the most turgid and least entertaining style of play of all time?

There's only one reason we're bringing in cheap "athletic" types from inferior European Leagues - they're cheap.

The extra revenue from Sky in the new deal really isn't all that much. It's an increase of between 500k to 1.5 million per club. Meanwhile more games are televised which means lower crowds. The EFL are terrible negotiators.

Thought it was a lot more than that - someone published a table a while ago from a season or two back where our TV revenue was c £8m  as opposed to about £1.5m the season we were in League 1.

There was a massive increase in the TV money for Championship Clubs before the start of last season wasn't there?

Yes Vi Ball with one shot on target in the 90 mins is far more entertaining!

Not saying it will improve (and I share your foreboding) - but we are only one match into the new season, with a number of players to bed in.

It was a but frustrating to not recognize the play style from pre-season. We seemed to lack energy or we were on half distance for way too much of time.

Yes the intricate 4 -2 -3 -1 system with players interchanging positions and running across the line  that was apparently "clearly" identified during the pre season warm ups didn't seem to work!

Are we sure that Pasha isn't coaching them, as he got rid of other coaches, so is probably okay to show them how it is done. He is an expert after all, as we saw with his opinion on Adam Wharton and is nobody knew quote.

That's from League One to the Championship though. I was talking about the increase in TV money for Championship clubs before the start of last season that you mention.

Regarding the figure, I'll be honest, I plucked it from AI because I couldn't be bothered to look thoroughly. It's a little lower than I thought I remembered hearing (which was about 2 mill in my vague memory). But I do remember at the time of the announcement thinking it really wasn't all that much of an improvement all things considered. And if 40 million of sales barely touches the sides, neither will the TV deal sadly, under these clowns. Somehow we always seem to need to cost cut, no matter how much we have and no matter how much extra money appears.

If he's not better than Toth and Pears he's got problems.

If he's better than Toth at 18 he's going to be the next Raya.

My heart broke a little when JDT left because I realised the football I'd seen under him was probably the best (at least in parts) that I've seen us play in a number of years. Pure joy.

Jury's out on Ismael but you do have a point!

Seemingly in the case of Lowe, he STILL hasn't!

I have heard before that he has been sacked and reinstated, on more than one occasion, so that's no surprise that and I believe we has the ear of the owners.

Yes. According to the rumours he is the owners' eyes and ears on the training ground and in the dressing room.

That's exactly what I have heard.

Oh great, another transitional year, another journey, another excuse. Just what we need to celebrate 150 years.

The only transition we are undergoing is from bad to worse.

Good to see youngsters signed up for the longer term.

Gotta say that whatever we think of Pears, to go from first choice to outta here is strange. Yes he has had some howlers but also a good stretch before getting injured.

Maybe he has been promised the Derby gravy  train, but if he goes and Toth gets injured we have a rookie between the sticks. Has to be a money thing.

Was Lowe removed from that list & then re-added? or just never removed in the first place?

https://www.rovers.co.uk/club/staff/

It may just be out of date as It also still shows Tuffy as U18s manager, even though he is now U21 assistant manager

The new guy, Nacho Sancho (great name btw) only joined a couple of weeks ago and he is listed as Head of Performance (it had to be head of something).

I noticed he was in there, but Tuffys job change happened over a month ago, so Lowe is still like Schrodinger's first team coach in my eyes

Unfortunately that staff page has always been badly maintained.  It had Ryan Kidd as U18 assistant manager for most of last season too, despite it being Tuffy, yet other positions seem to get updated almost straight away

Obviously if Lowe was previously removed, and then re-added, it paints a picture as to developments though

Would appear to be a clear difference between the respective employment status of say Waggott who isn't on the list and Lowe, who still is, despite VI stating he was leaving.

I wouldn't be surprised if VI wasn't too impressed with the hair transplant gone wrong as a reason to miss a proper preseason, and the relationship may have deteriorated from there. Just a guess of course.
