The bonus was the return to form of Tronstad.

Agreed. Perhaps realised that his mate is going and not much he can do about it so better just get on with it? Body language much better. Needs must I guess for a pro. Shop window too for next year?

Yeah... Funny really we've turned over 3 managers and 80% of our squad in 18 months. But we look remarkably cohesive.

The real championship doesn't properly get going till we get into the November to February 2-3 games a week madness so too early to say the wheels wont come off. But have generally looked like a really well coached, defensively solid side across the three league games. I expected us to be in disarray tbh.

Agreed. Seven transfers in a brief period of time, now, we are starting to see some good fruit.

It’s still early, but I don’t see the team stink it up this season or get relegated. Perhaps hold down its current place on the table. Maybe better.

Let’s see what happens when the waves of injuries hit- it always happens.

Was it the use of the word shite? 🙂

Haha...Some may regard it as vulgar, but it is certainly one of the oldest words in English. I am certain the word goes right back to the Anglo Saxons...

Anyway, it helped make your point very well..

I know it's been a difficult few weeks, but I hope that was not a wave "goodbye" at the end...

A good win against a virus hit Hull. To me summed what the Championship is about - we took our chances, they missed or we saved theirs. Once ahead we played with great flair and control - but did get the run of the ball at times (if not the referee).

So good win, some nice performances and return to form of certain players like Cantwell and Tronstad - but doesn't cover up lack of pace up front or Kagbo going off with his thigh quickly strapped up. But as with the defeats we suffered, it was fine margins - which for once went our way.

Just asked my mates the same question... They all said they'd prefer Brittain. I'm not convinced. I like the pace and physicality of Alebiosu.

I think it would be totally underappreciating how good Brittain was to suggest that Alebiosu is better.

He was probably the best right back in the league behind Bogle last season. Going forward, fantastic, and much more solid defensively.

Its no insult to Alebiousu to not compare him favourably. There is definitely something to work with. His positioning is questionable but he is used to playing at wing back and his pace can often get him out of trouble. And he isnt the most refined in attack but he will be a threat again purely due to his pace and power. For the third today, his initial touch was shocking but his power bundled hin through and we got a goal from it.

Knowing this lot they'll probably try to cash in on him in the next week or so...

I was wondering whether to make a tongue in cheek post about whether Cantwell had heard a whisper he might be in with a chance of a move this window.

Glad you beat me to it with something similar!

Good time to play Hull with their injuries and illness.  Therefore gone for Rovers' win at 12/5 plus a little cheeky flutter on 3-1 at 28/1.

Heart ruling head a bit but who knows.  Think this really will be a shit or bust game for Rovers.

Glad I let me heart rule my head - day would have been even better if Toth had made one save less!

Hull were poor from minute one and to be honest looked like their whole team was playing with a virus with their lethargy - their 18 year old centre back also had a nightmare, way out of his depth.

However, you can only play what is in front of you on the pitch and we did the job well.

Goalie and defence looked fairly sound whilst our midfield found their feet with Cantwell excelling.  We still need another striker, a quality one at that and one who commands automatic selection with his ability.

Hope the injuries to Tavares and Kargbo not serious given our threadbare squad.

Nice to get our first win on the board but make no mistake there will be far, far bigger tests and challenges ahead,

What a good result.

If every team gives Cantwell the freedom of the park like Hull did Rovers will be promotion contenders.

Hedges will probably not score again all season.

Tronstad was back to his best. Hyam looks shaky. He has a funny running style. the right back looked good. Ohashi also played well. Gueye needs to go to football school to learn how to play.

Watched with the Hull commentary, to be fair they didn't really talk Hull down, they gave Rovers all the credit and were very complimentary.

There's the Ryan Hedges we know. Hendrikson laid it on a plate for him - that's an impressive miss.

Key word, 'after'.

Cantwell looking a different class this season so far. No doubt they’ll be cashing in on that next summer so enjoy it while we can.

Great to get three points.

Keep the faith 🤞🔵

Or perhaps he has upped his game hoping catch the eye if potential suitors before the window closes.

Have to completely agree , brittain was performing at a premier league level last year, I thought he deserved a better move tbh. New boy had a decent game but the 3rd goal he got lucky with a trampoline first touch and a poor cross, their keeper should have lapped it up. Also of note was he pssed cantwell off by running through into a good position and then ballooning a shot, and he was mia when hull should have scored to make it nervy, luckily their winger was just in the pitch a minute and his touch wasn’t there. So yes fairly decent but far from perfect. I’d take brittain myself

Just catching up properly on my last day before leaving the Florida sunshine, that’s a stonking win.

Really pleased to see Hedges silence the critics (me) this week, I hope he keeps proving us wrong!

Feels like getting that first win is a huge monkey off our back

Games like today make you realise why you still keep doing away games every other week.  This was a superb performance, a real team effort with everyone making a contribution.  For the first time this season we started on the front foot and with a high press and what a difference it makes.  The new players are slowly bedding in and doubts I had about Alebiosu and Tavares were swept aside today.  Both looked very comfortable at this level.

McLoughlin looks a very good signing, younger than Batth but just as good in the centre of defence.  He looks a real bargain.  I must admit I had my doubts about Cantwell as a captain, but he rose to the occasion and gave his best display so far for the club.  He was unplayable at times today and took his goal very well.

Hedges showed why Ismael continues pick him.  He worked hard throughout, scored a goal with an exquisite finish and played an important part in the second.

The bonus was the return to form of Tronstad.  He was simply outstanding from first to last and completely bossed the midfield, particularly in the second-half when Rovers took complete control of the game.

We still need to strengthen, although I was pleased that Montgomery put the Bradford game behind him and looked the part when he came on in centre-midfield - his proper position.

One or two more performances like this and I might start revising my view of a bottom half finish.

Pleased Rovers won for you and those travelling supporters who went there yesterday

lots of great points by you there.

I do think you make a valid point about Brittain one of the best right back in this league

Alebiosu has impressed since coming into the team and yes there is player there, still learning about the championship but he appears suited to how we want to play which is very important. Might be better than Brittain in the future but we looked to pick up a bargain there for 500k

Don't get me wrong I really liked Callum fantastic player did his job well but feel like Alebiosu is stronger and quicker amd cam possibly offer us something sharper going forward

Still early doors in the season and I’m impressed in how Ryan is adapting to the squad. Energy levels will get better and has the athleticism to recover if he makes a mistake. Pace and power in his favour and can be trained on other aspects. Big boots to fill as Brittain is the better footballer in my opinion but both offer completely different traits. Thought the team adapted well to the system against Hull and when the fullbacks were caught up field Tronstad and Taveres covered the gaps. The intelligence of the players on the field yesterday was spot on and the performance was a joy to watch.

New right back thankfully looks up to the task he's very Nyambeish ( you know that guy who was easy to replace for nothing but it actually cost a million quid at least).

No fuss win the ball or the man and give it to someone else or get it cleared up the other end. Brittain last season was an elite Championship level performer, made a poor sideways move imo because if he signed again and bide his time a bit something better would've come along.

However they know how much this club now lacks any ambition so it's hardly surprising he elected to jump to a club who doesn't first chance, plus probably a decent pay rise.

Hedges seemingly a first choice pick every match tells you everything

That's a relegation team

Hull 2 Rovers 0

Hedges surprised us all
