To cheer everyone up Clitheroe beat York City in the FA Trophy today. They are mid table in tier 8, with York 4th in the National League. It's the equivalent of Fleetwood beating Chelsea.

I've been to watch Clitheroe a few times. I can see why people would dump this club and go and watch them with a pint and less emotional attachment. Its probably quite telling my daughter has a Clitheroe scarf and not a Rovers one.

I cannot think of anyone decent to replace VI as manager. At one time I would have been happy to give Damian Johnson a go but he sits there looking pretty useless to me; no ambition.

With apologies to All Saints.

"Dion De Neve have I ever felt so low
When you gonna take me out of this black hole?
Dion De Neve have I ever felt so sad
The way I'm feeling, yeah, you got me feeling really bad"

He’s just another in a long line of lambs to the slaughter VI, I’m sure he’s doing the best he can. I’ve been saying for many years now, we could bring Guardiola in and the owners and the acolytes would find a way to bollox it up.

VENKYS OUT - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

Safe trip home everyone.

Let’s not lose sight of the root cause of the rot.

Amen - the anger should be in one direction only.
Besides I also think a good proportion of this squad is likeable. Ohashi, Tronstad, Alebiosu, Hedges, Wharton and more. They keep their head down and work hard, and seem professional.

Agree to some extent if we continue with more windows like the last it’ll be a revolving door and become hard to take to players.

I was furious the first time it happen to DeNeve.  The player is probably two levels above his abilities and 4 above his understanding of the game. I don’t care if he’s out of position tracking back and getting goal side is elementary school level understanding of the game. Taking the ball to the corner up one in the final minute of extra time should be understood by every professional footballer. Not him though.

Continuing to select him over others is something worse. As the manager having a go at the player only highlights the fact that player was brought in and you continue to think he’s good enough to play.

It's beyond belief that DeNeve starts ahead of Pickering who has his limitations but can at least defend properly. The fact that he's been available all season but is continually ignored even as a substitute suggests there are some shenanigans in the background. DeNeve was utterly pants today and contributed absolutely nothing.

The tone has shifted, I think.

There's far less rage in response to this loss than I'm used to on this board.

Confusion about starting De Neve, sure. But mostly resignation and apathy.

The way the club's decline has accelerated over the past 12 months is truly frightening - there's currently not a single thing I can say I'm proud of about supporting Rovers.

Didn’t even listen or know the score till half an hour ago I’m that disenfranchised at the moment.

If we can’t beat the teams around us at the bottom we will go down. Whole setup is league one from board room to boot room.

2 goals conceded that shouldn't be happening.

De Neve's defending is pathetic. Its simple, track your man, he doesnt.

Second Half, pick the fucking ball Pears. Again Basics, why let it run out for a corner.

Simple need to be better.

Time to go back to 4 at the back for me but discuss that another day

None of the available centre backs are good enough to play in a back four. And it negates the team's main attacking threat Alebeouso.

Well done to Ohashi on scoring a quality goal. Other than that, usual guff.

Fascinated to hear what Ismael's excuse is for this one, because it's never his fault. Hope he has his sheet of paper to wave around at the presser again. Idiot.

This time he's throwing certain players under the bus. He's right that they were at fault but who keeps selecting DeNeve and Ribeiro?

Yeah its a big problem... When Albiousu goes to ACN I really dont know what we do.

Put TGH in his place and lose every match.

So Ribeiro is ok just watching the ball flash across him?

He always looks like a rabbit in the headlights.

Gudjonsen is an absolute passenger up front.

He has no impact and opposition centre backs have him in their pocket. If he hadn't scored a few goals he'd be as bad as Chris Brown.

I don't think it will stop there, League Two looming in 15 months time..

The recruitment is shocking and the few decent players remaining, will leave  in Jan or July 26, transfer money disappearing into the ether!

I couldn’t watch the game today, we were booked in at the  Royal Exchange in Manchester to see “ Singing In The Rain “. I was sat in my seat feeling quite relaxed about the game today. Then at 2-00 I looked at the team on my phone . What the fuck was that team selection all about ? I thought I was good at slotting players in roles but that was totally inexplicable. I couldn’t figure out who should be playing where.  It looked like he’d put all the players names into a hat and just picked out the first  11 names. There wasn’t a tackle in the midfield. My heart sank when I saw that team. In such a big game ! What was he thinking off ? What was the plan ? Has anybody asked him ?

Come 5-15 and I’m on my way out of the theatre so I have a quick look at the scores. Scored first and lost to bloody Portsmouth. Where do we go from here ?  I’ve defended Ismael in the past but I can’t defend that selection today. Does he really want to be fired ? Is it time for a pay off ? That starting team said “ Please Sack Me “ in my eyes.

Incidentally - “ Singing In The Rain “ is brilliant, but I’m on a totally downer now !

There’s a striker in League One. Scored the winning goal midweek and bagged another two today.

His name is Harry Leonard. Got championship experience. Could be a good option on the bench to change things up. Better option than Gueye!

Why the heck did we let him go!!!

Would you drop either of Ohashi or Gudjohnsen for him ?

The only hope is that Toth, Tronstad, Wharton and Hedges (!!!) come back as soon as possible and none of them get injured to the end of the season. Without them, we’re certain to be relegated. Even with them playing regularly, and alot of luck, it’s going to be tough. This is as poor a squad as I can remember in my 60 plus year lifetime of support
