  1. Despite the best efforts of the disgraceful British Press and berks like Boris Johnson to demonise them i would like to congratulate Russia on a superb World Cup. отлично сработано!

  2. An enjoyable World Cup, similar to Italia 1990 Well done to Russia. 1970 still the best for the quality of the football, even though it was agony for England.

  3. Ronaldo and Messi, nice strawman Chris. You may watch plenty of football Chris but you only seem to repeat the same names Chris once Nixon links them to us. I expect you to list Gallagher in every post now alongside Clark Kent; then Nixon will link someone else and you’ll mention him every day as well. I’d rather we went for a Marriott type over Gallagher, more up front cost but a potential investment and would be our player. Gallagher isn’t bad bad by any means but it would be disappointing if he emerged as our main striker target at this point and would imply other things haven’t come off. If we have this new method in place I’m surprised we haven’t yet been linked with more unknown quantities from abroad rather than a striker we all could have mentioned.

  4. ........but he still looked a good player, and the potential to get better, was obvious, if we'd had a manager able to exploit it and a more ambitious club. Still didn't make any sense when fans were glad to see him leave. He was always destined for the top.

  5. I think the only people that should have got new deals on the back of promotion were Raya, Lenihan and Dack. No -one else is good enough to be particularly worried about for me, if they think the grass is automatically greener elsewhere then good luck to them.

  6. I think it's smart only giving him a 12 month extension. Smallwood was excellent last season certainly In the first half of the season before his form tailed off. You have to remember when with Rotherham in the championship they didn't think him good enough and he was loaned to league one. There are question marks over wether he is championship standard so I'm happy the club have only given him a 12 month extension

  7. I doubt that we will every see a World Cup of the standard of 1970 ever again. That was a special tournament so many great sides and in my opinion the best England team to play in a World Cup.

  8. Hopefully he stays well well clear of Rovers..never have I seen a guy with such height never win an ariel duel

  9. I’ve seen tweets from at least half a dozen fans that I know for a fact go to every single game. I’ve had the quotes confirmed by my supporters club that were at the services, I know them personally and they are the absolute best of our fan base who spend a fortune and a hell of a lot of time supporting the club every single weekend, so they were rightly upset by a disgraceful outburst, considering they were just chatting politely to the rest of the squad. So please withdraw your posts BDS.

  10. And so many good players to come in Lemar, Dembele, Fekir, Mendy, Kimpembe & Tolisso hardly played any minutes between them. Then you have the likes of Coman & Rabiot who didn't even make the squad.

  11. I have to say I find this a really odd post

  12. Not sure why people keep going on about Mbappe emerging as a new superstar in this tournament he has already moved for £166 Million as well as scoring in the Champions League round of 16, quarter finals and semi finals.

  13. Gallagher on loan isnt that bad - think there is a slight overreaction if it is indeed true. People saying about his heading ability but we dont generally play it in the air. As long as its not our main 'striker' signing then I have no problem with it as he can also play as one of the three behind. Still would prefer it was a perm move though.

  14. Never a penalty in a month of Sunday's. The ref got it right the first time round watching it in real time at normal speed.. VAR at its worst. It will be a travesty if Croatia are robbed because of that.

  15. Both have champion experience? Kent was poor for both teams he played for but because he has experience let's get him in .. Gallagher has has two relegation scraps and has barley set the world alite where ever he has been. We should be aiming a little higher then Gallagher that's for sure

  18. Whilst Kane may have only had 1 shot in the knockout phase as the tints fade from the glasses the service to him was very very poor.

  19. He scored a few goals for us but sadly it was proven time and time again that he was weak in the tackle and was easily out muscled. The game at Oldham where he played up front really showed the weaknesses in his game and sadly he was physically not up to League One.

  20. I totally disagree on that. Could be moody but had a lot of good games and was rightly player of the season one year. Always thought he would go on to do well. However I would not have gone so far as to say win a world cup!

  21. No question about it. Rovers promotion. England is a minor distraction every couple of years.

  22. I feel like "completely rebuilding the team" is a bit of an exaggeration; I actually feel that his work in the transfer market has been very hit and miss, in particular his permanent signings. I think that the crux of Mowbrays good work was how he used the squad that was already here, many of whom were under performing for various reasons in the year before, Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams, Evans, Conway, Bennett and Graham, with the only significant improvements to our first team being Dack and Smallwood. Aside from this, hes brought in Samuel, Downing and Bell as squad players and Gladwin and Hart who arent even good enough to do that. Of course he wisely sprinkled in some loans to give us some punch in attack who have since departed. I just want to take issue really to the sentence "Some fans need to be realistic about the job that Mowbray has to do here." We all want to see a squad improved from the one that was a League 1 squad last year, and failed in the Championship the year before. We have lost Armstrong, Chapman, Payne and Antonsson from last season, and we need to at least be going into the season with a squad thats equal to what we had last year. Its a point ive made with chaddy numerous times, its no good settling for players that wont improve us, just to cater for potential budget restraints. If potential signings wouldnt improve us, in peoples opinions, then to be realistic is not a viable argument to come back with. If the signings we do we make are clearly as a result of a restricted budget, then people are likely to be more unhappy towards the owners than the manager anyway, so theres no need to be apologetic on his behalf.

  23. Our budget being low isn't becuase we "misjudged the market". Do you think if Mowbray and Waggott judged it differently venkys would hand over 30 million? The market is what it is and our budget is set. Mowbray is trying to do his best with what we have. He has gotten two promising you players in, that's an aside from completely rebuilding the team last summer. Some fans need to be realistic about the job that Mowbray has to do here.

  24. Again I’ve been drawn to comment on this thread. I’m sure I speak for the majority of people who simply want to come on here and read peoples views on various players we get linked with my views below. It seems at least 50% of posts are from this character called “Chaddyrovers”, every post has some form of passive aggressive tone, often quoting 5 different people in one, questioning each one with stuff like “really????, Why???? ” Etc.. This as you can imagine makes it very difficult to follow. When will the mods limit this tyrant so he can only post links?! He adds nothing but arguments and confusion.

  25. Great World Cup - sad that it has to end, some cracking matches. Well done England, well done to Kane winning the golden boot. No real surprise that France won it.

  26. The other day you didn't want Maddison because he had no Championship experience. Chapman has no Championship experience. Armstrong only has bad experience 7 goals in 54 games. And in the last 2 years Gallagher has been relegated and stayed up on the last day.

  27. Modric mouthing off after they'd won a match - why not grow a pair and say something the days before - their manager popping off for no reason, and Lovren self proclaiming himself the best defender in the World. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Cracking result, congrats to France.

  30. No way Tom. If you can’t take my word for it just listen to all the ex footballers on the TV panel. It was to be deliberate. Like Linekar just said they need to change the rule so that am contact with the hand is handball because the current rule just allows a decision to be made which favours one team or another. The ref didn’t think it was a penalty. Then he had doubt put in his mind because of the VAR team. He has then decided he made a ‘clear and obvious error’. Not a chance. VAR is a brilliant tool for match fixing.

  34. Actually I think the point a few are making is Gallagher as target man back to goal type thing after I said we need height up front, Crouch good header but poor jumper, Kane tends to come off his man then jump, lean backwards. Centre halves jump straight up to get as much forward purchase as possible as you say. As I've said also the days of target men looking to flick on are fast disappearing, from what I remember of Gallagher he was ok heading towards goal if a little weak but my point remains we need some good height upfront in the box to get on the end of scoring opportunities ahd to me he fits that BUT I think he's probably too expensive. I do think he's an improvement of Samuel & Nuttall though.

  35. I have suggestion lots of players who Nixon hasn't mention so please don't lie about that. I suggestion April/May players like Matt Smith, Chris Martin as Target man options to sign. I think I also suggestion Gallagher a while back. Didn't I suggest Edwards from Peterborough or QPR winger Samuel Odayi. I did suggest going for Sam Winnall who has goals at this level and someone who is likely to leave Sheff Wednesday this summer. Does Marriott have the game for the Championship or will he just be another Matty Taylor who struggled for goals since joining Bristol City? if we don't have loads of money surely we should be looking to buy someone with experience of scoring goals at level like the players I have mention. I would agree would you on your last comment tho Tom tho. Think its a good point you make I cant see Mowbray panicking at all. think he will stick to his guns and not over pay for players I'm pleased Mowbray isn't paying over the top for average players or daft wages. that's not we need as a club or a playing squad. Its takes times to put in place a new scouting system and get it working properly I agree on the type of player Gallagher is and someone Mowbray could improve scored 11 league goals here when on loan. I agree he needs to leave Southampton permanently but the question is how many clubs could afford the fee/clauses Southampton would want and his current wages?

  36. As I said last night, wouldn't be totally against him coming back here on loan but ideally we get someone else in on a permenant basis. We definitely need to bring 2 forwards in before kick off. Samuel should only be a bit part player this season and Nuttall should be loaned out. I hope TM didn't return from India expecting more to spend than what he's now been told he has to spend.. Wouldn't be the first time our owners have done something like this. Promised Lambert the World when he took the job then when he realised it was bullshit he was gone..

  37. I don't understand this one. We need to make a permanent signing. Gallagher on loan is just an expensive stop gap and we will have to find someone this time next year. Avoid.

  38. Gallagher may be " mobile and quick " but will he be able to hold the ball up ? I thought he was a lightweight when I saw him play. I agree with the other poster regarding his heading ability. Another one in the long list of 6' 1" players who jumped 5' 10". I was hoping we could do better to be honest. Maybe other teams aren't interested in our magic beans. I think we can infer from the players we've been linked with that there is no real money coming from the Chicken Chokers.

  39. For me definitely inflated market when quoting 2m for Bauer who hasn't achieved much in his career it is cheeky. He should be worth 700k not more. I am all for spending money but I has to be right. I would argue our squad is about the same bar the striker situation it is pretty much the same. Chapman and Payne barely played the one we are missing is Armstrong. Antonsson i wouldn't want back, and our midfield is actually stronger in my eyes

  41. I thought Gallagher, that moment of nativity at PNE excluded, looked pretty handy in what was a struggling team. If we were signing permanently I would be happier though. It's just not easy to sign a good striker on a permanent deal with our budget

  42. Why am I going to have a nightmare about PNE when I finally fall asleep? I should never have logged back in here.

  43. Expensive, not that good and only a loan, that wouldn’t be a great signing and one that showed a total lack of imagination if it were the case.

  45. Blackburn Rovers after Southampton Sam Gallagher on loan. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/6780129/southampton-transfer-news-danny-ings-liverpool/ I would be very happy with this. Good player

  46. To be frank Belgium are a quite a few rungs better than us with the best player at the tournament in Hazard. To lose to them is no surprise at all. People should not take it too hard. It's been a good tournament. Semi finals is a fabulous outcome given the mediocre quality of the players available. Southgate now needs to look forward and figure out how possibly to do better. People will expect us now to make semis at least at the Euros. How he is going to manage that will take some considerable imagination and planning as we are unlikely to get as soft a draw again and we are so far behind Germany, Belgium, France, Spain in terms of quality available, and on a similar level to another 4 or 5 European teams. He's going to either need to wring more quality out of what he has, or find some new top players from somewhere as yet unknown.

  47. Rivers winning the PL or England the WC? I'd go for the former every time. But if it was a choice of WC or another Rovers promotion in my lifetime I would chose the WC because Rovers will go on once I have gone ?

  48. I always think something very similar whenever I see his name on the team sheet before a match. What a chump.
    1 point
  49. That's because I watch both teams, not just the one in blue and white. I praise Rovers and the playing staff when they deserve it. I gave Dack , Raya, Bennett, Lenihan etc plenty of praise. In that Wigan v City game Wigan defended like their lives depended on it. They nilled a team that had scored goals for fun against the best in this country and in Europe last season. We struggled to keep a clean sheet against teams that got relegated. Give credit where credit's due. If you only watch one team in a game you'll never really learn anything about football. How did we go on in the FA Cup ? Just remind me.
