SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 An enjoyable weekend for a change! Well played Rovers.
perthblue02 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Clean sheet away from home and a win, In charge for at least 80% of the game, think that goes down as a good day at the office. Leeds poor but you can only beat whats in front of you as they say
Backroom Tom Posted October 29, 2015 Backroom Posted October 29, 2015 This guy has made a real difference for us in my opinionHave to agree we are conceding far less with him in the team.Great signing. How long is Tom Lawrence's head?
OJRovers Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Apkan couldn't control a bag of sand, but he's the sort of player we needed to give some presence in the midfield, does well sitting in front of the back four, but gets himself forward too.
Backroom DE. Posted October 29, 2015 Backroom Posted October 29, 2015 Overall a really solid performance against a poor side, who couldn't really get going even with the referee firmly in their pocket. We had a really shaky 15 minutes towards the end of the first half, but we came out much more focused and saw the game out pretty comfortably. Have to say that when you see teams like Leeds and Charlton it seems very unlikely we'll go down, even with Bowyer in charge. Great performances from Akpan, Conway and Lawrence. Another goal from Rhodes and a goal from another member of the team, which is really important. Hoping we can keep Lawrence past January, he's a fantastic prospect and gives us a genuine threat in the final third.
TeamGB-11 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Bowyer was right, we look a decent side. Really good away display..
AllRoverAsia Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Some very good performances. Akpan got better as the game went on. Steele for someone with next to nothing to do contrived to look dodgy. Great to win.
Backroom Tom Posted October 29, 2015 Backroom Posted October 29, 2015 Another thing about Akpan; when everyone looked tired he looked like he could do another 90. Be interesting to see who comes in with him in the next game I imagine Williamson. Hopefully we can keep Lawrence for the season then beyond, for all his flaws GB does very well with the freebies and sometimes loans
joey_big_nose Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Great defensive effort. Actually generally played at lot worse than we did against Burnley imo, but got the win, that's football as the cliché goes..
den Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Well that was a delight. Absolutely nothing to whinge about tonight. We really did give it a right good go and we did ever so well. Well done. It was also a joy to watch that Leeds team and their mighty fans. Long may that last as well
chor808 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Good performance. Leeds terrible but whatever we need the points. Lawrence was great how did he miss that chance on Saturday. Someone said like Bellamy, bang on. Just that wobble in the first half but other than that good stuff.
Reedy You're A Star Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Excellent first half, OK second. Just sat back a bit too much for me, could've had a couple more. Conway, Rhodes, Lawrence all brilliant first half, faded as we sat back. Akpan and Evans very good again. First away win, clean sheet, up to 14th, can't grumble at that.
Stuart Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 4-4-2 wins the day. Wonder if we will be talking about him reverting to type next game? For now though, excellent result. Please learn from it Mr Bowyer and continue to play to our strengths rather than try to nullify those of our opponents.
Speedie Dived Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 4-4-2 wins the day. Wonder if we will be talking about him reverting to type next game? For now though, excellent result. Please learn from it Mr Bowyer and continue to play to our strengths rather than try to nullify those of our opponents. We didn't play 4-4-2 though
Husky Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 That's the way to start games Gaz, on the front foot. Aside from our dodgy last 20 mins in the first half the result was never in doubt. the second half 'wasn't one for the neutrals' - but we did a thoroughly professional job and they were never in it - even when we played with 10 men for several mnutes you couldn't even tell. Up to the dizzy heights of 14th - quick take a photo. So that's our win for the next few games out of the way.... Niice to get the game done and dusted ready for a Halloween party weekend
G Somerset Rover Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Good performance AND a result. Can't ask for more than that. Back it up against Big Club please lads and Bowyer.
Bucksrover Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Hopefully Guthrie will be back for Brum. Nice to go up the league a few places. Maybe signs hanley and duffy are forming a partnership?!
booth Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Wish we were playing a bit sooner than Tuesday. Amazing really as after Saturday I didn't want to see another football match.
Doug Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Really like Marshall at RB. Gives us an extra dimension going forward and is good at the defensive stuff.
Roverall Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Great performance. Well done to GB and the boys.
Backroom Tom Posted October 29, 2015 Backroom Posted October 29, 2015 Can we have Thursday night football every week?
rovers11 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Outstanding performance. We looked incredibly well organised and had talent going forward. Lawrence, Evans, Conway and Evans were brilliant. The two centre backs have improved dramatically this season, looking very solid. Leeds were atrocious but we still played well.
