Boro were in for Gyokores in the summer. The fee was rumoured to be in the region of £8m-£10m.

I think JDT has already said we don't have much money to spend in Jan.

It has been rumoured that Everton and West Ham are looking at Gyokeres I read a couple of weeks ago.

JDT did say last week we didn't have much money to spend. Where he is trying to keep expectations down or possible fees low who knows. I didn't think we would spend 5 million in the summer like Rovers did

As previously stated, Coventry have a deal until the end of the season. The club won't be taken over by Ashley as it has been taken over around the same time as Ashley bought the ground. The ground has a hotel and casino which is what Ashley will be interested in. And Highfield Road was sold for housing so the owner/chairman at the time could make a tidy sum selling the land, with rumours that Gordon Strachan got a piece of the action. The long term future was not really that important to them.

The quote was Substancial budget compare to none Parachute payments club. If you look at what those clubs spend then it was.

How much was you expecting us to spend?

im`e expecting  brereton to be sold and the money we get to go straight back in the transfer kitty, there is a few on the wage bill we can offload as well, striker, left sided midfielder and centre midfielder required as minimum

I'm expecting Brereton-Diaz to remain here for season.

I think we sign 1 or 2 players in January and probably let 3 or 4 go either permanent or loans being the outgoings

Name one or two were we might make money on. BBD, Kaminski, Dack before he got hurt. Dolan - maybe in the future ? Plus he got good money for Armstrong. That’s it as far as I can see. He gave Raya away on the other hand.  Nobodies going to be beating a path to our door for Ayala, Hedges or Pickering. On the other hand I haven’t time to name all the flops he’s signed. Maybe later tonight when I’ve got an hour or two to spare.

When we needed him to sign a player or two to get us into the play-offs last season he signed 5 players that contributed 0.

Most of the guys on here would get at least 1 out of 5 right.

Hedges for me could become a significant value player. Hes got a lot of attributes to be a good player at this level. Could see him kicking on over the next season or two.

I actually think you could be about right there. The whole complexion of it will change if we do sell BBD though.

It will be interesting to see what sort of bids for BBD in January if we do? I think we will keep him cos no club will offer us what we want to even sell and in the summer no club even got close to an acceptable bid. Keep him and we stand a better chance of Promotion then without him. Also BBD might want to stay for the season and if we get promote sign a new contract here,

Lets hope JDT sees sense and hangs on to Dack and Buckley, they are part of Blacburn Rovers.Rumour has it Mowbray is after both of them. This team has potential, JDT is chopping and changing in his first season as manager, looking for his best team.

Lazy paper talk that, Sunderland wouldn’t be able to afford Buckley and in terms of Dack I’m not sure they’d be able or willing to pay the wages he’s on here.

If TM wants to come and spend £8m+ on Dack I'd be letting him go

He will get goals under Mowbray no doubt, but we need a £5m midfielder desperately and if we can sell Dack and buy a good one in there then it would be worth it for me

Say we get £15m for Buckley + Dack from TM splashing Sunderland's cash then I'd snap their hand off. Providing we get a midfielder in that's going to improve the starting line up. Morton doesn't seem to be the answer

I suspect we would accept around 10-12. It's a lot for us for someone we could lose for nowt in the summer, but we also don't want to be taken for mugs, sets a bad precedent, then there's the question of how likely we are to get promoted with him vs without him.

On the other side of the market, he is certainly worth that kind of money, but  clubs will be conscious of him being free in the summer. However only one of the linked clubs can possibly sign him and all the rest will miss out. He's still a good bargain at 10-12 mill so it's a question of get a good bargain now, or risk getting nothing in the summer and having to pay top dollar for someone else. Similar dilemma to ours in a way. Likely that Ben and his agent will suck up a lot of the savings on a freebie in wages and fees too (which is why they're unlikely to force a Jan move, though I suspect they'd agree to one if they're not lowballed).

We won't be spending money on midfielders that's a cold hard fact, if promotion was the aim then we might do but it isn't.  The reason we are loaning in the likes of Morton is to keep the pathway open for our own.  Thinking being one or two of ours aren't ready and he is supposedly a bit more advanced.

What we really really need in there is a Bradley Johnson type whose legs aren't yet gone, might find one on a free or loan but he'd cost average championship wages.

That'll also be an issue so i expect the midfield to stay the same but with maybe more involvement from Buckley and Wharton etc as the season goes on.

Fair point, but i would hang on to Buckley he's home grown and still young. My prediction im dreaming of a 2-0 win to Rovers.

He's a development coach so the chopping and changing will continue regardless of form.

Agree with the rest though, two fingers to TM.

i don`t think dack would fancy a move to the north east,he`s recently bought a mansion in cheshire, buckley is a local lad who`s a rovers supporter as well, both of them should be priced well above mowbrays budget if he comes sniffing

Buckley is from Failsworth, I think. Sure I read he was a United fan…
