Don’t overstate how significant tonight’s result is for Burnley. Winning one of the lower leagues is not particularly meaningful. Getting promoted is the big achievement. Whether you win the league or finish 6th and win the play-offs, it’s pretty irrelevant.
Putting a thoroughly depressing and unlucky week aside, we are a striker or 2 short of a really decent team now. Intensity and style of play has come on leaps and bounds since the defeat at Turf moor and the defeats to PNE and Rotherham!

I disagree. Much like our 5-0 win in 2002, this moment will be replayed for decades by them. Also bear in mind that in addition to winning the title, they have also more than likely ended any hope of the play-offs for us, and I believe that mark ten years without even a GOAL against them. The title itself was never important, but the location was vital.

They will get the riches of the premier league again whilst we will continue to sit in relative squalor and the gap will widen. It will take a complete miracle of a season for us to close that gap now.

You cannot level blame at GB the appointment came late so move on. The issue was the club secretary who reports to SW who is to blame for the mother of all fuck ups.

U can't blame him for last summer but he had 6 months to get deals moving and done by January.  Unacceptable.

The January transfer window has probably been our costliest(shambles) ever, especially taking into acount the reported hundreds of thousands they spent on solicitors to pathetically try(and fail) to sort their amature mistakes out.

And not taking the reported millions offered for Brereton in the summer is also looking like a huuuuge mistake now that he's completely regressed 4 years.

Not having a single senior centre forward in the squad apart from flippin gallagher🙄 is what's costing us dearly.

He was appointed in early June he had plenty of time to be ready for the January window. And let's be honest it didn't take a genius to know that the position we needed was a striker.

Pockets of Bumley fans celebrating in the corporate seats. Next to me around row 15 a youngish lad was cheering after the goal, He was told to fuck off by a few people then others took it past words and started throwing punches. My big gripe here is on that stairwell they've got an old dolloper as steward backed up by a short woman. It was clear before the game started the padded seats were full of their fans - saw loads taking photos of the away end and another guy on the phone waving to someone in there. They needed proper security there.

The lad shit it - he wasn't a hooligan and the old steward and girl tried to get him out but they got followed on to the concourse where I saw him on the floor taking a few kicks. They managed to get him up and he wasn't hurt. After it was over around 10 coppers and security arrived.

My big gripe is at Rovers here - the same shit happened against North End and they didn't deal with it then. They're happy to take 200+ people paying £100 a head and skeleton staff it.

One Rovers fan got taken away by police and will no doubt get a ban when the situation should never have been allowed to happen.

The thought of any human being kicked on the floor for celebrating a goal is absolutely abhorrent. Bitterest rivals or not.

Think any of Szmodics, Dolan, Hedges, Thomas, BBD are good enough as the wider forwards or in the 10 role, as long as you have a proper goal scorer through the middle at number 9 who can lead the line and worry the defence when a cross or a through ball come in. But playing three or four of them without a focal point is hopeless really.

Dolan, Hedges, Thomas, BBD consistently make the wrong decisions.

BBD and Thomas are thankfully off.

Dolan and Hedges are decent squad players but we need better if we're going to convert possession in to chances/goals. Admittedly that's the hardest part of football but the recruitment's teams priorities this summer must be strikers and wide players.

£5M down the drain there---hard-working but hasn't the talent. He'll play out his contract I'd predict.

Would be nice to move him on, but can't see him getting a better deal anywhere else, so yeah I imagine he'll be here until the bitter end.

Need at least two decent strikers in the summer for that reason - assuming Gallagher stays I wouldn't want him higher than 3rd choice, and nowhere near the right wing either.

If you read what he said earlier in the season, he had no intentions of seriously bolstering the squad in January.

The league position was a complete surprise and they weren't prepared for doing any proper business, and it showed with the speed in which they were moving in Jan and then when opportunities came up.

And to send off Markanday and Hirst before bringing in replacements is amateur hour.

Thank goodness BBD had his purple patch in the first half of the season. If we'd had BB for the first half of the season as well then we'd have been at the opposite end of the table, and January wouldn't have been any different.

Anyone who thinks "the team progressed massively since the turn of the year" is taking absolute rubbish and clearly have no clue what they are talking about. We've gone from 3rd in the league to 8th in that time period. What absolute nonsense and embarrassing lack of knowledge. It's there in black and white but logic seems to be completely absent these days for some.

I’m going to get banned at some point but honestly fuck off. We got a reply back from the EFL an hour before the deadline. You really think the paperwork was ready, but the club secretary was slow and did other things instead and happened to run over the deadline? Bollocks.

It’s meant to be a relatively simple (minutes) job to complete what we needed to send, and the EFL reply was back by 10pm. There surely was some delay that meant we were on the very last minute which caused the problem of Silvester submitting the papaerwork. However some idiots seem to be absolute in absolving Saint Gregg of any blame, despite the fact he hasn’t said otherwise and has taken full responsibility.

He was out of his depth and he has cost us royally.

Any comments about that handball in the penalty area in the 93rd minute?

It’s handball. But can’t expect that to be given at this level, at that speed etc. It is what it is. Would rather try and focus on the performance.

But what we really needed, and what JDT asked for, was a striker. He didn't even manage to have one lined up come the end of the window.

Massively agree to disagree.

The horror performances have disappeared.

A competent striker would be well into double figures since January. Instead Brereton-Diaz has been on the fucking beach and we already know that Dolan / Hedges / Gallagher are never going to contribute enough goals to fire you up the table.

That’s absolutely right. If you ignore the actual football matches.
