As far as I can see you have to go down to Rochdale in the National League to find another game suspended/postponed, so was the weather around Ewood just locally apocalyptic compared to the rest of the country, or is Ewood just so poorly maintained that we're at National League level?

What do you think?

Can’t think of an instance in English club football..? 🤔

There's a first time for everything. Set a precedent.

I can't think of many so late with a team so dominant (goal up and man up).

Can vaguely remember some for snow, after 20 mins odd. 0-0.

Even at 1-0 after 20 mins there so much time to go and so much that can happen.

Just think this one would be ridiculous to replay. And that's not even with bias. Would think the same if Burnley v someone,  albeit whilst chuckling.

If we have to play the full game, every rovers player gets to slap mckenna's face on the way out of the tunnel.  That's a fair exchange

He’ll be sacked by then and they be on the charge no doubt

I don’t know what the rules are with the ball needing to be rolling. I remember Conway chipping one in late on years ago on a worse rain-sodden pitch than that. Today he pulled them off the first time the ball really stuck. I suspect he thought it was going to get worse and that it was an easier decision at 79 minutes than had it become farcical at 87 minutes.

Incredibly unlucky.

Think our pitch and drainage is totally shite and has been so for years.  Our owners, Waggott and Pasha no doubt knew this but seem to have done near to feck all to address the problem.

For perspective, every match in English Football League that started has been completed other than Rovers.  Rochdale only game postponed.  Even Chorley played and completed.  My lawns aren't great with persistent heavy deluges but even they haven't got a puddle on!

3 points almost in the bag and there's almost an inevitability that we will get beat when the game is rescheduled.  Those 3 lost points could be incredibly costly one way or another at the end of the season.  Yet another example, IMO, of our owners and executive management's myopia and incompetence.

I feel we may have some hope given Ipswich were a man down and conceded a penalty both of which need punishing. The FA can’t just ignore that those rule infractions took place and there needs to be a punishment. It’s also the referee who represents the FA who chose to start the second half when the forecast was known and at this point it was 0-0 and 11v11. I hope there is someone at the club making these points to the ref and the FA!

Let’s just beat them 2nd time around. Fuck it. We were the better team and if there is such a thing as karma, we will beat them again. Wharton and Trondstad were awesome. Toth as well. No way they were going to score. Onwards and upwards. Take the positives and win the next one.

The reff stopped the game when the ball completely stopped in a puddle of water. I can see why he did it. But then i have seen matches (including at Ewood in recent years) where they just keep going.

Yes seen it happen too in other games... ridiculous

At least you got your stake money back 👍

The only fair resolution is play the final 10 with the circumstances the same , ie same players 11v10.
else a pen shoot out , we win result stands, they win , draw. The most unfair is a full replay from scratch

Can't think of another Championship club with two washouts in under 12 months.

Tinpot doesn't even begin to describe it. We're an absolute embarrassment at all levels.

Owners/management with a modicum of self respect would have sorted something after the first washout.

We all knew something like this was going to happen, the only surprise is that it happened after 80 mins, we all thought it would be called off at the last minute before the game again.

As a temporary fix, surely my idea of covering the pitch until just before kick off would have allowed for an extra 10-15 mins and the game to be completed?

The forecast was known in advance for days.

Blackpool, Bastards, Wankys all played to the end.....what does it say about us not finishing the game?

And Salford and Chorley.

If there were financial penalties they'd do something about it.

I agree with this point in theory but how can you guarantee exactly the same players will be available on any new date?

Don't think there's a cat in hell's chance this doesn't get replayed from scratch.

There's always grey areas. Could be has to be the same players if available. Can sub in others for injured.

The authorities are always banging on about protecting "the integrity of the sport".

I can't see how a full replay of this match does that. Damages the integrity for me.

The main issue is, and always has been the fact that the pitch drains into the river. If the river is overflowing there's nowhere for the water to go. I'm not sure what the answer is but I'm pretty sure it's not the pitch itself that's the problem

A big pump that pumps the water somewhere other than the river seems a good idea.
