bazza Posted Wednesday at 15:45 Posted Wednesday at 15:45 (edited) Too early to judge Ismael. But it's not looking good. Not a lot of us olduns left who remember Iley but him and Ince were employed by a good football club and they both failed miserably. Ismael is a pawn in the shocking mess that belongs to Venkys. Edited Wednesday at 15:50 by bazza Extra comment 2 Quote

StHelensRover Posted yesterday at 09:53 Posted yesterday at 09:53 I'm too young to remember Iley, so while I can see his stats in black and white, I don't have to recall memory of watching it. I went for Ince, his tenure was dire on the pitch and comical at times off it. Was in way over his head, nothing was ever his fault and he just looked permanently confused. Awful. As others have mentioned, Ismael has been as bad, but Ince walked into a well run club so arguably had better infrastructure in place to succeed. Might have to come back and re-vote for Ismael if we're bottom on boxing day. Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted 22 hours ago Backroom Posted 22 hours ago Ince for me. That notepad with ‘shoot’ written on it (whether real or not) just summed up the amateur hour with him there. Still don’t think he was worse than Coyle or Kean though. 1 Quote

Roversider Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago For those of us old enough Iley was appalling. The loss of the magician Dave Wagstaffe to Blackpool was heartbreaking. 2 Quote
booth Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Paul Ince. Had a decent squad and was backed yet still botched it. Bringer of Keith Andrews. Quote
joey_big_nose Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Ince genuinely seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. After he left us he sank back down the divisions. I dont know Iley - before my time. But for all his shortcomings Ismael does seem to know the basics of being a manager. 1 Quote
Andy Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Not old enough to know who 'Iley' is, but I'm pretty confident that Ince takes this title. He was generally a bit dim, but clearly tactically inept and living on the back of a highly successful on-field career. It's no coincidence that he's faded into managerial obscurity. Quote
dingles staying down 4ever Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Iley was the first manager Rovers had that I was brought up on as a seven year old so its a bit vague. Ince was a strange one arrived with a 4-0 win at Everton and it was downhill from there are on in. Ismael started badly and it ain't getting better so if there was option all equally inept, I would vote for that. Edited 5 hours ago by dingles staying down 4ever Quote
Herbie6590 Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago As the poll inches towards its close, essentially I suspect that if you were old enough then Iley wins this hands down but it’s true that Ince squandered more resources. 1 Quote
