Sell all three if they don’t sign contracts.

We lost three players on a free before and I’d rather get some money than lose them on a free- especially Brittain- everything that is wrong with modern football in a nutshell.

I'm theory yes, but we've quickly learnt transfer income isn't reinvested so we'll be up the creek

If our billionaire owners can't afford to pay the wages, maybe they should sell us?

Hurrah! Mornington Crescent! ☺️

Just shook it multiple times but I my brain still insists that the owners are cunts for reasons we can see and don’t need to imagineΒ

Must be nice supporting a team where every summer doesn’t feel on the verge of catastrophe. Feels like we start every summer on the weakest of back foots. Yet some feel the Venkys are doing us a solid. Baffling

Every summer we rebuild from scratch.

It's exhausting.Β

Eustace wanted the contracts sorted back in December. The players by all accounts wanted to discuss contracts.
Β

The club had no plan beyond this summer and therefore wouldn’t sanction what we all knew was the right thing to do.Β
Β

Ismael is now talking about learning from mistakes of the past (with regards to contract situation). Don’t bother pal. It happens regardless of who’s in the chair. The incumbents just blame their predecessors. The only constant is Suhail.

Since GB left it seems that the club doesn't want to reward our best players with improved contracts since it reduces costs short term. Now one of our best players is desperate to sign for a club that finished below us last season.Β

I got told towards the end of the season by someone close to the club that the senior players weren’t happy with staff departures (not just Eustace).

I think they don’t like working for their current management and employers and know they can get a bigger salary elsewhere. They know there’s no ambition for promotion, and ultimately they all want to play in the PL. Therefore a club with ambition, such as Boro, will appeal more than Β Rovers.

Those quotes from Ismael in the LT read like just the beginnings of the next head coach to fall foul of the way Rovers is run as a club.

Before too long he'll be jus as fed up as JDT and Eustace became in the end....it wouldn't be at all a surprise, and I'm not even that fond of Ismael.

It feels like every season its a messy summer followed by a new years implosion.

i to am not his biggest fan,but he`s no muppet and i can guarantee he won`t stand for his best players being pushed out of the door by penny pinching indian ****,wonder who our next manager will be ,probably bensonπŸ˜€

Brilliant interview imo. He isn’t fazed by it but I love the last line- β€˜it won’t happen again’ in reference to Callum refusing to play.

More I listen to Val the more I love him...I hope the players play for him.

Cos he won’t be here. Val basically says himself financially the club may need to do it.

WeΒ know they do.

Not sure about that. The club is a shitshow and this has generated a culture, Β where players clearly share a view that BRFC is going nowhere.Β
I still don’t think that lets CB off the hook here. I loathe the regime, but CB’s behaviour leaves a very bad taste for me…. Szmodics too…

Hate venkys but also hate entitled modern footballers. Don't insult my intelligence by pretending you give a shit about this club when you sign to then eventually refuse to play when you dont get your way a few years later. Yes at a better run club he'd have been tied down ages ago but it wouldn't change the eventual result when a perceived better offer comes calling. He'll do the same thing to Boro in a few years and thus it continues.Β

Zero loyalty to us so ive learned to have zero loyalty to them.

At least it's not Derby...

Fair contract is all context. He might be on 8k, we might have offered 12k - it's been rumoured Cantwell is on 20k. He might want that but we can't afford it - not with trying to get down the income to wages ratio. And even if they could match at 20k - Boro might be offering 25k.Β

Essentially once other established Championship teams become interested, we cannot compete financially.Β

Absolute nonsense.

If you really want to keep Brittain you pay him what he wants and trim the wage bill elsewhere.

What is Forshaw going to bring to the table for example? The square root of bugger all is the answer. Ditto Hedges.

I wouldn't pay Cantwell in washers based on his performances last season yet he is allegedly our top earner by some margin. Terrible value on the face of it.

Another example is Toth. Allegedly on an eye wateringΒ  Β£10k p.w. considering he was on the bench nearly all last season. I'd rather keep Brittain, flog him and promote a young keeperΒ

Plenty of ways round it IF they really wanted to keep any of the 3 obvious suspects.

Clearly, they don't - in fact Brittain's replacement has been brought in in advance of his departure.

Sensible in one sense, but not if they aren't on the same level.

β€˜Pay him what he wants’ - nonsense that opens the floodgates for all players to then demand moreΒ

don’t get me wrong these contracts should have been sorted long ago and it’s very likely we are low balling but to say just let the player have what they want is asking for troubleΒ

Why do you automatically assume he is asking for more than he's worth?

Not for the first time I strongly disagree with your post. Not all players are worth the same salary based on their contribution to the team and therefore their actual value to us.Β
