Oh great. We aren't Sheffield Wednesday.

Yippee.

That said, their players showed a lot more heart and spirit against Leicester than we didย  against West Brom.

I watched the 2nd Half of their game at Bolton last night , plenty of spirit at Wednesday !

Absolutely nothing here , ..

The only positive I can take from Trav being forced out is that he may have the courage to speak honestly and openly about the shit-show behind the scenes. Yes, I know I may be being naive about this. But, if anyone has the balls, itโ€™s Travis. Iโ€™m clinging on to the hope that this one is actually a step too far and it brings down the bastards that are strangling our club to death. We have to get Venkys, Pasha, Gestede and the whole lot of them out now. Or, I fear it will be too late.ย

Guarantee he won't.

The fact that (per the LT) weโ€™ve offered Hyam a 2 year deal at the same pay as his current one shows the juvenile thought process of the club. The guy played just about every minute for us last season and we expect him to take seriously an extension that values him the same as when he hasnโ€™t kicked a ball in blue and whites yet. If that offer is true itโ€™s disrespectful, to him to even put it on the table. No wonder neither he or the others have signed extensions.ย

Itโ€™s been the case for years that we have always opened negotiations with our established players by offering them the exact same money for an extended period. Was the case with Lenihan and Nyambe, both of which were declined but further negotiations didnโ€™t happen โ€œbecause of covidโ€. Then it became too late.

It improved under Broughton as Suhail was too far removed from the process, which he wonโ€™t have liked. It went Broughton - Waggott - Babu. Broughton actually got some deals done (although one of the main reasons he was dispatched with was he was seen to be too generous with contracts. Wahlstead was nearly our highest paid player, Jake Batty was on several times more than all other youngsters, JRC got a huge pay hike). Reckless spending, or bringing our wage structure up to the going rate?

With Broughton gone things initially went Waggott - Babu - Suhail, then simply Gestede + Suhail.

Last summer there were attempts to get Szmodics to stay by treating him as an exceptional circumstance and obliterating the fairly loose wage structure. He was certainly open to discussing it, but too much dithering from Venkyโ€™s end meant the Ipswich move became inevitable.ย

Before the end of last season there was an idea to offer Dolan a hefty loyalty payment - basically a big (million plus) signing on fee to incentivise him to sign on lower wages than he could get elsewhere. Dolan and his Dad were open to this - the offer was never put in writing.

Travis and Hyam will all have been given contact offers a while ago - extensions on the same money. No follow up will have taken place after the initial rejections so Rovers can say โ€œwe offered them a dealโ€. This is Suhail 101.

Gestede was always a Suhail man, but he further ingratiated himself with the signings of Ohashi and Gueye. Yuki took a pay cut to come to England. Gueye came from the notoriously poorly paid Belgian League. Between Suhail and Gestede they have now decided that there is no need to pay more than 10k a week for a player with those two as their proof. 11 โ€œAโ€ players on a max of 10k. 11 โ€œBโ€ Players on a max of 6k. And 11 Young players on a max of 1k. Any exceptions will be phased out.

So exactly the structure Blackpool in 2009 had. Only with inflation, meaning itโ€™s about half in real terms.

We might have to wait a few years for players to retire and be doing the podcast rounds (as has happened in recent years with regard's to Coyle's time), but very, very intrigued to see what stories come out about this period at the club. The whole setup is completely rotten with not even a glimmer of optimism right now.

The full stories we get now regarding players only being offered contract extensions on the same terms can only come from the players. Theyโ€™re telling us now whatโ€™s happening at the club.

This just shows the lack of respect for other humans which unfortunately has been a common thread under these owners.

When is the next big "express yourself" day where we can all do 250 different things with no clear unity?

There's a risk involved here as well, playing 46 Championship matches plus cup football and training sessions with no job security past the next (less than) twelve months.

Hyam is a standard level Championship defender who just had a great season compared to the one before. Adjusted for inflation and put a promotion bonus clause in there and it shouldn't be too hard to sign.

Yeah it's basically a 12 month contract which i'm sure a player at his stage of career is delighted about.

Said it before though all this is being done on purpose they know full well the situations they are creating.

Yep, offer something no -one with an ounce of common sense would accept then leak storiesย  blaming it all on the player.

After some poor results, Rovers will likely be active in the transfer window before it shuts. One of their reported targets, Nectarios Triantis, could now be available with just a couple of weeks remaining in the window.

According toย Football Insider,ย Sunderlandย are ready to let Triantis leave the club, whether on loan or permanently. Triantis was given an opportunity to impress during pre-season by boss Regis Le Bris.

However, after key signings, both at centre-back and in midfield, Triantis does not have an immediate future with the Black Cats. Triantis had a brilliant loan spell in Scotland last season with Hibernian.

Derby Countyย have been heavily linked with Triantis too this summer, but former Rovers boss John Eustace has quashed those rumours. MLS side Minnesota United are also keen, while hisย former side Hibernianย have been priced out of a deal.

Get him signed.

By the end of this window, we look likely to have lost Batth, Weimann, Dolan, Brittain and Travis...with the possibility of Hyam and Tronstad to follow as well given they're probably not signing new deals either. That's basically the core of the team from last season.

Beck as well don't forget. if Hyam goes that would be an entire back line gone. Beck, Hyam, Batth, Brittain.

If Travis and Tronstad go, that would be the midfield gone.

Plus Dolan and Weimann, who was a useful squad member.

Potentially eight. You can only put it down to deliberate sabotage either because Eustace and Co did a bit too well last season and it was a bit too close for comfort or purely on cost saving grounds or most likely a bit of both.

I imagine this particular leak has come from Hyams camp, as it paints the club (rightly) in a bad light

The previous leaks about him being close to a deal, will have been the leaks from the clubย

ย

Leaks from the club side are always

"we offered them a good deal"

orย

"believe we are close to an agreement" etc,

orย

"he wanted to move to be closer to his nan"

not

"we offered him one extra year on what was in effect a wage decrease in the hope that he couldn't be arsed moving house"

Exactly so.

The senior players are voting with their feet and thankfully debunking some of the nonsense Elliott puts out on behalf of the Club.

I hate everything about what's going on at the moment but It's all the faffing about and lack of conviction that pisses me off. For the players that want to leave, get it done ASAP so everyone can start a fresh. I can't be fucking bothered going into another game of the season with players who have one eye on the door, who don't want to play for the manager (even if he is shite)... I want to pay money to watch lads who want to be at the club and prove themselves at least.ย

ย

If Triantis is available and has proved himself last season the get Trav out the door and get him in. Get the right winger in aswell.

ย

By the time it all gets sorted out we could be without a win and rock bottom FFS. It all needs sorting ASAP, get it done ye bunch of dicks.ย

Thereโ€™s either some iron clad NDAโ€™s or people in football just lack the balls to speak up.ย
ย

To think of all the players, managers and back room guys that have been and gone in the last 15 years and nobody properly puts their head above the parapet to give the world some insight.

Itโ€™s bonkers really but most of them are looking for the next pay cheque and not sullying their name.

It seems to me that the relentless squeeze on the wage bill is in preparation for the future in L1. The FFP rules in that league require the playing staff wages to be no more than the aggregate of 75%of the playing staff wage bill plus 100 %of so-called fortune income which is basically transfer fees. The fiasco with the upcoming out of contract players, making offers no better than their current deals also seems to confirm that there is a wage cap. Why does the media ask that question?ย

Also needs the mediaย  to ask the right question, and numerous probingย follow up question/s to whatever their answers are to the original question.

Unfortunately, we have to rely on Jackson, who will likely just ask, "is there a complete freeze on wage rises?", to which the club can reply "no" as they are still offering wage rises to the likes of Michalski

If we are lucky, he will then ask "is there a wage cap of ยฃ10k/week?", which the club will be able to again say "no" to (as it will turn out its ยฃ11K/week or something)

NDAs are not only enforced legally they are backed and enforced by the entire football and sportsmedia industry

It just happens that nobody will be offered more than 10k a week
