Kamy100 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 This news has stopped me in my tracks. Shocking, he only got married a few weeks ago and has 3 young children. He regularly does Twitch Streams of hjm playing Fifa (FC) which I have watched and seemed like a really nice guy. RIP and thoughts/prayers with his family. 2 Quote
Devon Rover Posted July 3 Posted July 3 How absolutely awful. A huge tragedy for his family. Monumentally less important, but he was also a superb footballer. Whoever you are, whatever you achieve, it's all so fragile, isn't it? Very sad. Quote
Backroom DE. Posted July 3 Backroom Posted July 3 Terrible news. Heartbroken for his family, especially with his brother passing away in the same accident. Quote
Tugayisgod Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Just came on to reiterate everybody's elses sentiments. Truly awful news 😥and puts everything else into perspective. Quote

Mercer Posted July 3 Posted July 3 (edited) Just tragic, awful news. The fragility, and sometimes briefness, of life puts everything into perspective. RIP Edited July 3 by Mercer 1 Quote
arbitro Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Tragic news about Diogo Jota. Football is insignificant when we hear news like this. My thoughts are with his friends and family. Rest in Peace. 4 Quote
RoverDom Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Absolutely mad. Looked like a really nice guy, recently married and leaves 3 little kids behind. Quote

waynerovers Posted July 3 Posted July 3 There aren't many things that will unite fans from all clubs but this is one of them. Truly awful news. 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 4 Posted July 4 devasting news and Jota was a class player. Thanks for memories and my thoughts go to his wife, children, family, friends and Liverpool. You will never walk alone Quote
riverholmes Posted July 9 Posted July 9 A rather irrelevant point given the tragedy, but the modern game means players lack something of their game identity. Will we remember Diogo as a great winger or striker or an amalgam? Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted Saturday at 06:41 Posted Saturday at 06:41 Whilst what happened to Jota was desperately sad I do find the decision by Liverpool to retire his number 20 shirt to be a completely unnecessary and typically over the top modern day decision. I'm sure he was a decent enough player for them but he only played 120 odd times - he's hardly Ron Yeats or Kenny or Rush is he? If the Club had retired the number of every great former player who'd graced their shirt they'd have no numbers left to give out. It would have been far more of a tribute to him to retain the number so that those who wore it in future were playing in his memory and for the number to become synonymous with him like the no. 7 shirt is with Keegan and Dalglish. 1 Quote
GHR Posted Saturday at 08:58 Posted Saturday at 08:58 I have never been one for retiring shirt numbers for whatever reason, it implies that a given player is bigger than the club which should never be true. Clubs who retire number 12 as 'the fans are the twelfth man' should be liquidated and their directors imprisoned. 3 Quote
roverandout Posted Saturday at 15:15 Posted Saturday at 15:15 Not as bigger joke as Birmingham retiring Bellingham's shirt 1 Quote
