Fife Rover Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Wild, unfounded speculation. Needless, attention seeking hysteria. The negativity is so unwelcome right now. I can understand some of the reservations against the new appointment, but the above is simply pathetic. There is a new found degree of positivity now and we all deserve the chance to be optimistic. Some might not agree and that is fair enough. But negativity against a mass of positivity like this, in such a feeble and irritating way, in order to seem 'unique', 'knowing', 'wise' - or whatever it is you are going for is embarrassing, wearisome and almost provoking to the extent that you force-feed it on this board. Yes you might not want to join in with the sense of building collectivity and solidarity in getting behind our club and trying to make it what it once was through hope and will. That is understandable. But must you persist with the moaning based on nothing but baseless lies and speculation? Spot on Stevo. This is not the time for more moaning and recrimination. Rather it is the time for ALL to get behind the new manager and the team and let's just see what they can achieve in the next 3 months or so. With the promise to Henning of money to spend in January as well.

Rather it is the time for ALL to get behind the new manager and the team and let's just see what they can achieve in the next 3 months or so. With the promise to Henning of money to spend in January as well. Add me to the list. The more I hear about the appointment process, the more I think Henning was the only guy who really wanted to come here in the end! Many of the other suggestions were just as likely to take us downwards as upwards if their track records are taken as any indication of the future. It's all a gamble really and I am as happy to put my faith in Henning as anyone. There's something heart-warming to see an old favourite come back and talk about the club with passion as if he knows what Blackburn Rovers is all about. We have missed that haven't we? He has thrown himself into the lion's den but he will have full commitment from me. I really, really hope he succeeds. I will be listening to the game tonight.
The Dart Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I wish Berg all the best. I highly rated him as a player and hope he can do the business now as well.
broadsword Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 With the promise to Henning of money to spend in January as well. You would have to wonder where that would come from. I guess it depends if the crowds start coming back. The stain of Kean is a skidmark in the underpants of the club that will take many 90 deg hot washes to remove. And I think the dislike of Venky's will remain ever more (certainly, it will for me).
Dunnfc Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Kazim having another stinker what a suprise...
Stuart Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Kazim having another stinker what a suprise... His pouting could almost be understood if he had been relegated with us and couldn't find another club. But he joined KNOWING we were a Championship side. That's assuming Kean didn't convince him we were still in the PL. Kean really did a number on us with the majority of his signings. Not least the Portuguese but right throughout. A lot of bodies came and went during his reign of terrible, without very little real quality sticking. Makes you wonder why...
roverandout Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 i said it before but i dont beleive berg will get rovers promoted, cant judge him on one game but after 1 defeat in 6 for black, rovers should have had the platform to build on that, berg was in charge today so he carries the can for this defeat

Berg should have won this easily with the quality that we have seen on the pitch this season. Palace are a very poor side having been on a lucky 12 game undefeated run...behave...at least give him a week worth of training before you burn him at the stake lol
Amo Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 agreed. Berg should have won this easily with the quality that we have seen on the pitch this season. Palace are a very poor side having been on a lucky 12 game undefeated run...behave...at least give him a week worth of training before you burn him at the stake lol He's only had half a week to work with the side and we were away from home against one of the league's form sides. I've heard of kneejerk but this is ridiculous.
neophox Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Berg has only had two days, It was probably Black who set out the side and Berg gave his views as the game was played. We will see a different side on tuesday for sure and I can see some players getting on the bench. Berg is a honest manager and his comment after the loss at palace: "I think Palace deserved to win there is no doubt about that." Also Berg said that there's alot of work do do. Even Black would had lost today.
Ricky Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I take it you chose to not read Imys post properly lol. Talk about knee jerk. It'll take more than one game to see changes. Palace are flying and beat Cardiff last week.
Blue n White Rover Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 If Steve Kean was still in charge, he would have dwelled on the 2 attempts that we hit the crossbar with, saying we were unlucky. Good honest assessment by Berg. He knows the problems. Lets see if he can rectify them now.

Amo Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I take it you chose to not read Imys post properly lol. No, my sarcasm-detector isn't that faulty.
rovers11 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Great to hear the very vocal support for Berg at the game today. I can't believe people are seriously writing him off already. To put into into perspective, we have not had a proper manager for 2 years. The team has been devoid of tactics for 2 years and dont currently have a 'style of play'; it is lump it forward and hope for the best. The players are unfit, Dunn admitted that Rovers did barely any fitness work in pre-season. The players are unmotivated, such as Martin Olsson and some are just past it, pedersen etc. These issues aren't rectified in 2 days. People saying we can't get promoted are wrong. We have been atrocious thisnseason without any tactics or fitness and yet we're only 5 points off 1st place. When berg starts implementing his ideas, gets the fitness up to scratch and adds a few more players, we'll have a great chance of going up.

Well done.

Whilst we need to start seeing improvements I think promotion is a very tough ask this season. Henning should be given until the end of next season to achieve the goal.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Whilst we need to start seeing improvements I think promotion is a very tough ask this season. Henning should be given until the end of next season to achieve the goal. I'm not sure we've got that long. We needed an experienced guy to hit the ground running. That's not what we've got.
jim mk2 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I'm not sure we've got that long. We needed an experienced guy to hit the ground running. That's not what we've got. Compare and contrast to McCarthy ....Ipswich won their first match in 13 today.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Compare and contrast to McCarthy ....Ipswich won their first match in 13 today. Is mentioning McCarthy every day, as opposed to Allardyce, going to be your new thing from now on? And Birmingham had won once in the last five and have been pretty poor this season......Ipswich are in a false position......with a half decent manager they would have normally been mid-table this year.
jim mk2 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Is mentioning McCarthy every day, as opposed to Allardyce, going to be your new thing from now on? . Sorry if I'm boring you but if you don't like it why respond ? Fact is, Rovers missed the opportunity to hire a man who has achieved promotion from this division twice and is far more likely to "hit the ground running" as fans want and get us back into the Premier League at the first attempt than Henning Berg. Having said that, Berg has my support and I hope he's a success.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I was hoping it would act as a deterrent. I doubt anyone had Berg as their 1st pick, and I'm glad the vast majority are behind him, but I can't be bothered to keep reading posts that argue people like Holloway and McCarthy would have been a better option.....so what? Nothing can be done and it's not like either are outstanding candidates anyway.....it's not like we chose Berg over Benitez.....I hope.
CrazyIvan Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 As an answer to people who say we should have chosen so and so, let's see where we end up at the end of the season compared to their new teams. Plenty of time yet.
