LeChuck Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 It won't be Nigel Adkins. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11673/8598622/Premier-League-Reading-confirm-appointment-of-Nigel-Adkins Gutted. He was the only outstanding candidate for me. There are still good candidates out there, but a man who has four promotions in the last five seasons and does it whilst playing good football....could have been the solution to our on field problems. This also means Reading will be a big threat next year. We could have done with them screwing up that appointment.

We don't seem to want to employ anyone who would outrank Singh in terms of management experience. Appleton did that and look how that worked out. If Singh is in charge of recruitment, it will surely be another novice.
LeChuck Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Good news for me, I don't rate Adkins one bit. Not taking that bait again.
Backroom Mike E Posted March 26, 2013 Backroom Posted March 26, 2013 Gutted because he was THE top realistic guy. Not surprised though. If I expect Judan Ali, surely they can only better that expectation with a Hughes or McDermott or DiCanio? Please Venkys?
AJW Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Saw a report on SSN commending the work Edgar Davids as done at Barnet (40 points from 28 games) ,knowing our owners liking for inexperienced managers i wouldnt be surprised if he's being considered

They've shown that they don't care for fancy names in charge. Quite the opposite in fact. Aside from being an inexperienced manager, Davids would represent a change in selection policy and we have nothing to suggest Venky's will be doing taht the moment.
jim mk2 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Adkins was the obvious stand-out candidate just like McCarthy six months ago. Another missed opportunity.
Amo Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Adkins was a realistic choice?Oh how quickly we forget.
jim mk2 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Adkins was a realistic choice? Oh how quickly we forget. Why wasn't he a realistic choice ?
Amo Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Why wasn't he a realistic choice ? Because he's competent?
greggyk Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Adkins was the obvious stand-out candidate just like McCarthy six months ago. Another missed opportunity. As if Adkins would even look at Rovers......
bypass06 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 @iainmacintosh9m Blackburn Rovers say that Shebby Singh is seeking legal advice in regards to The Sun's 'Burnley fan on the shortlist' story.
UbuRoi Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 @iainmacintosh9m Blackburn Rovers say that Shebby Singh is seeking legal advice in regards to The Sun's 'Burnley fan on the shortlist' story. I can see the Burnley fan winning about 500k with this one.
CapeTownRover Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 We can win the last 9 games in a row under Bowyer, he still wont take the job, or get the job. Its about who can cause the most damage that will get it
GanG2245 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 it will be a permanent job for bowyer if he get good results in remaining 9 matches. no doubt there.
Backroom DE. Posted March 26, 2013 Backroom Posted March 26, 2013 Except he won't take the role permanently, so that would solve nothing.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted March 26, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted March 26, 2013 Good news for me, I don't rate Adkins one bit. 4 promotions in 5 seasons, yep, he's terrible. Why wasn't he a realistic choice ? Because Venky's are our owners??
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Adkins was the obvious stand-out candidate just like McCarthy six months ago. Another missed opportunity. I agree Jim.
Backroom Tom Posted March 26, 2013 Backroom Posted March 26, 2013 It's hardly an opportunity missed when it wasn't an opportunity in the first place He'd have chose Reading over us any day
jim mk2 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 It's hardly an opportunity missed when it wasn't an opportunity in the first place He'd have chose Reading over us any day + How do you know that ?
Stuart Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 + How do you know that ? I don't know how Tom knows but I'm going off experience of the Venkys regime. They sacked our only credible manager and have never employed anyone with any real experience, quality or proved track record of success.Adkins falls into the latter category.
West Yorks Rover Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 + How do you know that ? I really don't think it makes much difference who the manager is at the moment, until we clear out the Shaw, Agnew and Singh, whoever comes in will be undermined and will either be sacked or walk out.
darrenrover Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I don't know how Tom knows but I'm going off experience of the Venkys regime. They sacked our only credible manager and have never employed anyone with any real experience, quality or proved track record of success. Adkins falls into the latter category. We're crying out for leadership at every level but how can Malky Mackay's success at Cardiff be explained when faced with similar, if not quite so ludicrous, issues as our own?
