Great shame for Toth

I’d initially heard it could be a long-term setback, so it’s a relief that things aren’t quite as bad. The international break definitely works in our favour.

One encouraging sign is Pears’ eagerness to get on the pitch the moment the injury occurred. That kind of hunger shows he’s driven to play and likely keen to silence any critics. He clearly sees himself as the rightful number one, so let’s hope his performances back that up.

It also works in his favour that he can now focus on preparing to start matches rather than warming the bench each week. I imagine he’ll be buzzing in training, full of confidence. 

Saying that, let's hope Toth returns quickly and injury free. He's been brilliant so far and hopefully continue his form when he's back.

I have had three such operations and was back running from one of them in the days but the others were a bit longer.

It sounds like the same procedure Weiman had last season and he was, from memory a few weeks.

That was kind of my point. Out of the three I had one was 10 days but the others were longer.

I recall Ally McCoist coming back within two weeks after a meniscus tear.

Everyone is different with regards to recover. I'm hoping Toth is a quick healer.

Ally McCoist suffered a meniscus tear (a common type of knee cartilage injury) during his playing career, and famously returned to action in less than two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery for it.

Disaster for us and Toth. Pears suddenly taken off the transfer list, I assume.

Really bad news, really glad we’ve banked the 9 points recently.

I don't rate Pears but he’s a below average championship keeper rather than an abysmal one. Protect him and it may be ok. Bloody long time though and bound to cost us some points.

Perhaps because they know what is wrong with Toth. Was there ever a diagnosis for Baradji other than some vague reference.

I'm not sure we are set up to protect the keeper much with our current system. Toth made match winning saves against both Southampton & Leicester, not saves I'd be expecting Pears to make. 

No one would be blaming Pears if either of those chances went in but that's the difference between the 2 keepers. Toth makes those , Pears doesn't.

Losing Toth is a tragic blow. It looked innocuous. They’re always the worst

That is a big, big shame and blow to the new found momentum. Toth has been magnificent this season - his match winning save at the weekend for example.

Glass half full....Pears may see this as a chance to put himself in the shop window and therefore actually put on a good show? (Ability permitting....)

Hoping Wharton is not out for an equally long time.

I did say similar in the Leicester thread, 6 points could have been 1 with Pears but he’s had decent runs of form before so we just have to hope he has a good few months

I was thinking similar due to the way he just pulled up.  Let's hope plug head sees it as a chance to get his shirt back and puts in some inspired performances.  I won't hold me breath though.  Wharton out too, Carter also making the decision to let Hyam go look as a stupid as we all knew it was.  Not fancying Saturday at all now.
