  1. I'm deaf myself Deaf services have been stripped to the bone by Conservative austerity policy, with Deaf and SEN Schools closing, and even the century+ old East Lancs Deaf Society closing its doors last year. Deaf children need help now more than ever, lest they get left behind by lack of access to education. /preach

  2. Wohooo. It must be true then. It's time to get excited. Defenders are coming. Defenders are coming. Defenders are coming. Defenders are coming.

  5. Transfer update 14/9/20: TM only has 17 players to work with for the game Vs the Barcodes but is relaxed about it. Presumably another 6 need to drop out before we consider this an issue. Swaggot comes up.with a new tasty marketing campaign to entice new players to the club "if you can't get a better offer elsewhere we'll have you." One descerning fan states that Rovers fans may be less critical of TM and Rovers in the circumstances had previous transfer windows not been ballsed up. Given we haven't signed a player in a January transfer window since 1066 and TMs "defenders are coming" speech omitted "but they will be late to the party and bog off after one season" there's plenty of evidence to suggest this theory has legs. However other Rovers fans desperate for signings look to ensure the bar doesnt have to leave the ground. Comparisons with struggling Boro are made (despite them signing more players than us.) The plan is apparently Cunningham and Ayala. Thank goodness for that European scouting network enabling us to come up with this. Meanwhile Chaddy continues to reinterpret what he has posted, our third game is rapidly approaching and of course... ... we still haven't signed any more players!

  7. The term In The Know is such a moronic label. I'm not asking for credit. I'm not expecting plaudits. I know some sports agents, some staff at clubs, some players and some data analysts who also have access to people who are on the receiving end of information.. If I hear something I shall mention it on here if I think it's credible. Most instances I don't know targets. But sometimes I find out information.

  8. Text from my dad: 'If he's put Corpotate above fans, then I'm not going to Ewood again. I had this shit in 1960.'

  9. So those fans without the internet/smart phones, which will be a fair few of our older supporters (and they make up a large part of our ST base), have been told ‘you’ve lost four games, no refunds, you should have used ifollow, oh and by the way we are turfing you out of the Jack Walker too’ Whatever the small print, those fans have had a raw deal, and I would wager many won’t be back...

  10. Or another very possible reason would be Mrs Ayala says: "If you think I'm upping sticks & moving the kids out here to live like this, you can f*** off!" "Take that offer off Blackburn & we can carry on as we were. We're not exactly skint"

  11. This managers sees no urgency in anything at all that's why we constantly end up hamstrung in certain positions. A few knocks or lengthy injuries and we are up the creek this season yet he slumps back into his chair with his cup of tea.

  12. That the club can put towards defenders? We might actually get one in then!

  13. Newcastle United up next. In May 2007 we won 2-0 away at Newcastle – who had a strike force of Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen that cost £26m. Luckily we had a pretty expensive backline ourselves – Friedel, Samba and Nelsen costing a whopping £450k between them. If only we could find bargains like that nowadays!

  16. It isn't and never was about money for me. It was anger at being taken for granted with Waggott (or whoever) not having a clue about my (or anybody's) personal circumstances. The tone of the original communication was what really angered me.

  17. It has never been my intention to take it further that contacting them for a response and some form of action from them. What prompted it was the original communication which, in my view attempted to put season ticket holders without access to iFollow on some kind of guilt trip as if football was the only sufferer in the pandemic.

  18. I have replied to Waggott and mentioned the expensively unnecessary contracts and also the Mulgrew situation. My closing comment to him was that he is doing reflects badly on Rovers and himself.

  19. Makes the Smallwood, hart , gladwin etc contract extensions even more galling. Absolutely piss poor from swaggott and a disgusting way to treat loyal fans. At the end of the day we are just consumers on a spreadsheet and the club that jack built is crumbling to the ground. Hardly makes the floating few want to commit and get the season ticket numbers back up and the fans back in the ground . Throw in his pre game tax the man is a walking bellend. Never felt so disconnected to something i love dearly and I’m far from the only one. From top to bottom, Madame to Tony and the shadows in between The whole set up is a farce. At a time when clubs need loyal fans more than ever. Take us for granted at your peril Steve. People are getting sick and tired of it

  22. We are letting them play the u23s game instead. Including Davenport, which is baffling to me, especially since Johnson is out with injury.

  23. You wouldn't describe either of Samba or Nelsen as wonderful footballers in terms of ball playing technique but if you were looking for a pair of centre backs who can get a head or boot to every ball that came their way, that would fling their bodies in the way of every shot, and could find the nearest blue and white shirt with the ball they were your men. What we wouldn't give to find two equally unlikely signings now, or an Aaron Mokoena. Either of those legends would be worth two of the lad we had on loan from City last season in terms of simple defending.

  24. Sadly Mike E my Father died of MND in May. The Conservatives don’t seem to see this as a terminal illness. They are cutting back on so much. I totally get your concern.

  25. Good lad Chaddy! You're reaching so far there you must be nearly toppling over but I love your doggedness and indefatigability! I wish you were in charge of getting our transfer deals over the line. You'd lock the buggers in the room without food and water until they sign on the dotted line! ??

  26. Absolute nonsense. Waggott probably would be stupid enough to spend thousands of pounds of legal costs defending a £90(?) claim in the small claims Court but it wouldn't get him very far. Secondly, the situation between last season and this season is completely different. The Club contracted to provide 23 games in the flesh at Ewood Park last season. If we'd put season tickets on sale this season it would have been on the strict understanding that there would be no refunds in the event of Covid enforced non attendance. Completely different. I don't understand why anyone can't see that.

  27. And......I think everyone would cut the Club a bit of slack if it was just this window but with us it's every window since we were promoted. Mowbray made a comment in the LT at one point to the effect that it was one thing getting players out of Gillingham (Dack) and another thing entirely signing Championship players. Our recruitment team seem way out of our depth at this level.

  28. Mowbray in LT on Newcastle: “We’ll go to Newcastle and do what we did against Bournemouth, ask questions of them, play on the front foot and see whether they can live with the intensity we’re trying to find.” I really do think our manager is delusional and has lost the plot.

  29. Hughes was looking for defence bedrocks. The non flash kind that can serve you well for years becoming the corner stone of your team. Now the emphasis just seems to be find one under a million who'll have resale value. Priorities are all wrong.

  30. Very sorry to hear of your loss pal. Lost my dad the same way in December, just around 2 years following diagnosis. found it absolutely ridiculous that MND sufferers weren’t put on shielding/vulnerable list given the breathing problems that the illness develops. good man Mike E for your charitable donations. I will reciprocate to the deaf society in kind ?

  32. Told today that this is the plan, both being worked on. Optimistic. Ayala deal didn't happen originally because Waggott and Mowbray think that if a player/agent tries to negotiate during contract "negotiations", then they have a bad attitude and get blue balled. (*Agent was also originally asking daft money/bonuses*) Rovers are being very "take it or leave it" with contracts apparently this past couple of years... hence the amount of "near misses" we have experienced (Bauer, Reed, McGinn, Kipre etc). ?

  33. Whilst brought in for the U23s, doesnt Dolan count as a summer transfer, given the impact he has already made on the first team squad?

  34. No point explaining mate. Some genuinely not interested in anything that doesn’t serve their Ill-informed opinion. Say what you’ve gotta say and then communicate only with anyone who has anything constructive to say. Scroll past the mood hoovers and you’ll be reet. Thanks for sticking your neck on the block. It’s an unforgiving position but it’s appreciated...by most ??

  36. It’s a very poor response and makes a bit of a mockery of the line asking fans to take the streaming when in reality there was no alternative. I mean for the sake of the odd £80 here and there it seems a big own goal Still at least Richie and Sharty got that extra month and ‘we are all in this together’

  37. You must have difficulty understanding plain English or something. That refund clause relates to Rovers understandably not having to provide refunds if the customer cannot attend an individual game through some fault or reason of their own. The other clauses relating to possibly having to change customers' seats in the event ofextreme weather or excluding liability for personal injury are irrelevant to this discussion.

  39. I think to be honest you are dammed if you do or dammed if you don't at the moment. He's trying something new, it looked pretty good against Bournemouth, let's see how it goes next few games. Prefer that to just hiding away with a defensive game.

  42. I’m not a rugby league fan no, but the BBC have been doing a great job of raising the profile of MND, regularly catching up with rob burrow, doddle weir and Steven Darby. Sadly there are more parallels with the speed of Rob Burrow’s deterioration and that of my dad compared to Doddie Weir. They all tackle it head on with a smile: huge credit to them. one blessing, if you can call it that, is grieving during that person still being around. You can make memories. I did the Shrewsbury half marathon pushing my dad around only a month before he went. Great day out for all with such amazing support. My dad was an old PE teacher and yet it was the first half marathon he’d done! apologies for derailing the transfer thread folks

  43. He refused to sign a disclaimer without a new contract that would have left him screwed signing for a new club after his contract with Boro expired. They basically wanted him to play with no protection should he be injured playing for them.

  45. Are you claiming to be an ITK? It has a pulse until it's a done deal. Same with Kipre last week. You don't need to be an ITK to apply logic.

  46. Ayala? I don't believe a word of it I'm afraid. Someone creating the rumour because his move abroad hasn't been announced yet. Yet more people trying to claim they are ITK when they have no idea at all.

  48. Similar era: Tommy Smith handing Jimmy Greaves a copy of the evening menu for Walton Hospital as they stood next to each other in the tunnel at Anfield pre-match and saying "You'll be needing this Jimmy".

  49. You’re spot on mate. New keeper in a new country, making his debut. Needs support and encouragement and not one pat on the back for a better save than that clown Walton made all last season. Pathetic response from teammates. Indicative of the gutless players we have. Maybe he shouts a little too much at them and they don’t like it. Like I said pathetic.
